i love this team (2nd favourite), a team full of professionals, you definitely cant rule them out for the flag again.

The only real guy thats left the cats that will hurt, was ling.

Geelong even have so many young promising stars along with their outstanding veterans, such as:
Joel Selwood
Tom Hawkins
Daniel Menzel
Allen Christensen
Mitch Duncan
Nathan Vardy
Trent West
Cameron Guthrie
Tom Gillies
Andrew Mackie

VERY VERY impressive team. Since I'm a *cough* melbourne *cough* supporter, i have come to like watching a successful team in Geelong and i support them very heavily along with my demons.

I could see this team in the eight, hell, even the four for many years to come!

i think ottens leaves them with a bit of an issue too

it's funny, end of 2010 peopel were tipping geelong to slide possibly out of the 8 for 2011, but, another year older, more retirements that played really key roles in their structure, and people still aren't keen to write them off :P

Geelong have proved that the age profile is not a huge issue if managed properly. The team is probably actually younger this season.

I think they'll still be able to finish top 4.
They'll probably finish 3rd on the ladder, just something different from being 2nd.
They've finished 3nd for the last 3 years..

But as a lot of people are saying, they're certainly not without a chance to win the flag again this year!

Although statistically, we're not supposed to win one until next year
07,09,11,13?
Seems to be the pattern, but back-to-back is possible

It would be a brave man (or woman) who would discount Geelong this season. I got the impression last season that they always looked like the second best team, then they seemed to reach another level in the finals. I hope they are able to play some more new players this season. They found some beauties last season.

As Tysio said, they won't win because it as even numbered year. History shows Collingwood beat Geelong on even numbered years also.

Winning back to back is about the only thing this team has not achieved. It's incredibly hard though. It makes you appreciate how good Brisbane must have been a few years ago.

I think a lot of teams will be at their peak next season. The current top teams won't be going anywhere, and the top 4 is going to be very cramped I think.
