Dangerfield odds-on to win first Brownlow

Brownlow medal
With the Brownlow Medal awards night set to take place on Monday September 26, here’s the odds of the top five players, courtesy of CrownBet.

Patrick Dangerfield $1.20
The former Adelaide Crow was tipped as a possible Brownlow candidate after making the switch to Geelong at the start of the season, and the 26-year-old has now shot into clear favouritism.
Dangerfield has been phenomenal for the Cats all season, guiding them to a top two finish will brilliant performances each week.
The midfielder finished the season with the second most disposals and contested possessions, and also finished in the top five in clearances.
Dangerfield’s impact has been clear for all to see, and a look like he’ll be rewarded for his efforts this season with the game’s top individual prize.

Dustin Martin $13.00
In a disappointing season for Richmond, Dustin Martin has been a shining light in an otherwise dull campaign.
Martin was fantastic for the Tigers all season and picked up the Jack Dyer Medal on Best and Fairest night, and will be out to add to that with a Brownlow Medal in two weeks’ time.
The 25-year-old found himself in the top five disposal getters in the league, and was second only to Heath Shaw for kicks in 2016.
There’s little doubt Martin’s season is deserving off a Brownlow Medal push, but the major doubt will be whether or not the Tigers won enough games to help Martin pick up the medal.

Marcus Bontempelli $15.00
For a 20-year-old to be in discussions for a Brownlow Medal he must be a special player, and Marcus Bontempelli definitely fits the billing.
The silky midfielder has been at the forefront of the Bulldogs’ success in 2016, and there’s no doubt Bontempelli will be leading the young charge for many years to come.

Luke Parker $17.00
Sydney were the best team over the regular season, and a lot of that had to do with the brilliant season that Luke Parker had.
Parker finished with averages of 28 touches with 14 of those contested each weekend, and added an impressive 21 goals from the midfield.

Joel Selwood $21.00
Alongside Dangerfield, Joel Selwood was the midfield partner in crime and the pair made a massive impact on every game this season.
Selwood leads from the front each week and accumulated almost 28 disposals a game along with 13.2 contested possessions.
The captain also racked up 147 clearances across the season and will be a major influence in Geelong’s quest for a flag.
