Greene shows poise on the HFF, launching the footy toward the hot spot. Griffen takes the chest mark at 25m, walks around on his right, and snaps the first goal of the arvo! (Q1 2:21)
Despite GWS’s desperation in defence, Freo get themselves on the board. Neale releases to Matera in the pocket, who snaps truly on his left for the Dockers’ first major of the day. (Q1 5:04)
Taranto pings Cerra on the 50 arc for HTB. Electing to take the shot, Tim lines up, makes the distance, but can’t get the accuracy. Behind only. (Q1 12:06)
Shiel utilises his trademark turn of speed to breakaway from his chasers and manage a quick shot at goal. His attempt from 35m was rushed, flying through for a minor score. (Q1 13:08)
Cerra combines with Sheridan, who kicks to the mismatch of Sandilands and Davis, 15m out. Sandi would be a mismatch on almost any defender. He kicks the simple goal. (Q1 16:08)
Freo extend their early lead, thanks to a Stephen Hill long bomb. Mundy handball, Hill shot from 55, bounce, goal! (Q1 19:44)
Fyfe roves a contest at half forward, roosting a kick to the hot spot from wide on the boundary line. Off hands, through for a behind. (Q1 22:34)
Toby Greene couldn’t quite finish off a quick shot, roved off a pack in the hot spot. His dribbler hits the post. (Q1 27:22)
Just on the Q1 siren, Griffen bombs the footy from about 65. Intended for Cameron, however it skims passed everyone, through for a minor score. (Qtr Time)
Cameron marks a Coniglio pass and plays on at 50 near the boundary, CLEARLY taking the footy out of bounds. But his kick finds Griffen at 20m, who slots the set-shot. Goal Giants! (Q2 2:59)
Finlayson coughs it up in the worst spot, gifting Mundy the easiest of goals. Some quality forward pressure from Walters caused the mistake. (Q2 5:46)
De Boar feeds to Ward, who attempts the almost-impossible from tight on the boundary line. His flying shot at goal skews wide, through for a behind on the far side. (Q2 6:39)
De Boer offers an essential block as Greene struts past his man, having a ping at goal from 45. His shot looks a certain goal before the breeze drifts it to the left. (Q2 8:41)
Hopper pounces on the footy after a ball up deep in the Giants’ forward line. His quick snap isn’t quite on line. Minor score only. (Q2 12:13)
Cameron intercepts an awful Brayshaw kick out of the backline. From 35m, despite the wind, Cameron kicks truly… Then hobbles off to the bench. (Q2 14:12)
A chain of sharp kicks from Finlayson and Davis finishes with a Greene set-shot. From 40 with minimal angle, he uses the wind to his advantage. Goal to Toby, Giants in front. (Q2 16:55)
After three or so efforts for Taranto starting on the wing moving forward, he receives the one-two from Shiel, chalking up the 6 points from 45m on the run. (Q2 22:12)
Taranto involved again, this time smothering a defensive clearance and trying to work the magic of the hefty breeze. Almost but not enough, his 45m attempt a behind only. (Q2 25:08)
Michael Johnson finds Fyfe deep in the forward pocket. With the wind, it’s a very difficult shot. The superstar opens up the angle and bends it though the middle on the HT siren! (Half Time)
After excessive backtracking, the Dockers finally get their inside 50. Crowden marks bravely at 45. His shot is taken by the ever-present wind, pushed to the right (Q3 4:58)
Fyfe almost adds another major to his stat sheet, but again the wind influences. His quick snap from 35 misses left. (Q3 7:02)
A initially on-line Griffen set shot from 45 moves an absurd amount with the wind, barely scraping through for a behind in the end. (Q3 10:09)
Greene stabs at a close range shot. His low-trajectory kick while avoiding the deadly breeze, is still offline. 1.3 for that man today. (Q3 10:57)
Lloyd stays down to rove a pack at 25m, but again the Giants can’t convert. (Q3 11:47)
While under immense pressure, Shiel does fantastically to offload a short pass to Coniglio. Stephen’s quick shot from 30 is on song, extending the GWS lead to 12. (Q3 15:31)
Finlayson starts the transition in defence. Whitfield and Tomlinson with a couple kicks find De Boer inside 50. He goals! (Q3 17:47)
Offensive pressure causes Neale to loose control of the footy in a dangerous zone. De Boer pounces and snaps on his left, missing to the left. (Q3 21:59)
Hopper gets a similar opportunity, yet again his snap can’t quite do the damage Leon Cameron would have hoped for. (Q3 23:04)
While tumbling to the deck, Greene manages to offload a quality handball to a running Lloyd. Daniel snaps on his right from 20 out, sneaking it through for a goal! (Q3 25:43)
Toby gets pinged for going over the mark, thinking it wasn’t a 15m kick (likely only 10). Blakely benefits from the 50m penalty and from the 50 arc, his shot is off hands. (Q4 2:47)
Tough contested work from Cerra allows the ball to eventually find Ryan, who hits up Matera open inside 50. The breeze helps it right to left, through for a goal! (Q4 5:06)
Bailey Banfield, thanks to a good pickup and dish from Taberner, kicks his first goal in footy! From 45, directly in front on the run, and giving the Dockers a sniff. (Q4 6:11)
Finlayson bombs it forward to where Toby Greene marks brilliantly in a one-on-one against Hamling. Deep in pocket, Greene plays on, runs inside and snaps the goal! (Q4 14:00)
Off hands, Griffen crumbs and tumbles a high and hope shot at goal from the pocket. It is punched through for a behind. (Q4 15:26)
Aidan Corr creeps forward and finds himself within scoring distance after receiving from Cameron. Mark at 35, play on, snap, and just misses right. (Q4 19:31)
Hamling gets a little too adventurous with his spoiling attempt, giving away an infringement free to Cameron at almost point blank range. Goal to Cameron and here comes the rain.. (Q4 22:58)
Hopper ices the cake with a minute left till the final siren. The young Giant showed good composure as he slotted the running goal on a difficult angle. (Q4 27:47)
