Blog log from R21 of 2017: Sydney vs Fremantle

Hannebery marks and plays on inside the centre square, launching it forward toward Rohan who marks strongly over Pearce. From 49m out in front, Gary slots the first of the game! (Q1 4:16)
Reid steers his set shot slightly left from 35m after earning the free kick. He can’t make the Dockers pay this time. (Q1 5:32)
At the other end, Ballantyne finds Cox inside Freo’s forward 50. Brennan can’t capitalise, it fades left, through for a behind. (Q1 6:57)
Heeney shows great strength to fend off the big man Darcy deep in the forward line. After solid tackling from Tippett, Isaac gets the Swans’ second of the day. (Q1 8:00)
Three in a row for the Swans, this time through Franklin. From 45m on no significant angle, Buddy makes the set shot look easy. (Q1 10:31)
Out on the boundary line, Heeney finds Reid with a kick in close quarters. From 40m, Sam’s second shot for the day is another behind. (Q1 11:44)
Heeney hands off to Parker who roosts it from 50m. With help from Reid on the goal line, Luke kicks another Sydney goal. (Q1 14:46)
Fyfe loses his footing at half back, causing the ball to spill to Papley. He gives to Parker who has no trouble slotting his second goal of the day from 40 out. (Q1 20:32)
One way traffic continues for the Swans, this time the footy ending with Rohan. In the forward pocket, after taking his time to assess his options, he calmly slots the goal. (Q1 23:45)
Parker earns the free at the centre bounce for high contact. He bombs the Sherrin forward and Reid clunks a great contested pack mark. From 35m, directly in front, Sam goals. (Q1 25:16)
The ball bounces over the head of Logue on the wing, Franklin picks it up and finds Hayward in ample space in the forward 50. Poor defence results in the mark and Hayward goal. (Q1 27:00)
Darcy clears it forward from the centre bounce, falling to Taberner at 40m out. With a minute left in the quarter, Taberner finally gets Freo on the board. (Q1 29:14)
Tippett fights hard for the front position, clutching a strong mark in front of Johnson 30m out. After receiving from Jack, Tippett pulls the shot left for a minor score. (Q2 1:28)
Franklin marks out in front of his man at 52m. His set shot stays rather low and bounces off hands for a minor score. (Q2 5:55)
From the wing, Rohan delivers to Tippett who marks on the 50m line. Incredibly, his kick somehow manages to clear through a pack, untouched, for a goal. Lyon won’t be happy! (Q2 7:57)
Taberner gets rid of Nick Smith and clunks a strong mark. However his shot from 25m on the medium angle is disappointing, fading way to the right for only a minor score. (Q2 9:40)
Jack kicks to the advantage of Franklin who marks in front of Hamling just outside the 50. Buddy strikes this one very nicely, for his second goal of the day. (Q2 15:14)
Freo cough up the footy deep in the forward pocket, ending with Towers who snaps for goal. He was confident of the goal, however it came off fingernails. Touched, behind only. (Q2 17:11)
McCarthy earns an opportunity for the Dockers, yet sprays his set-shot wide. His kick from 40 goes through for a minor score. (Q2 20:07)
The Swans rebound quickly, with Heeney launching the footy inside 50. Sinclair marks, lines up, and goals from 40 with no major angle. (Q2 20:56)
Heeney hands to the running McVeigh who kicks in the direction of Franklin. Buddy reads the bounce best, turns Hamling, and from inside the 50 kicks another goal. (Q2 23:28)
Parker gets the centre clearance, and Franklin is awarded the free kick for holding on. From 48 with no angle, Franklin kicks his fourth! Two in a minute for Franklin. (Q2 24:40)
Reid marks in space on the lead then lines up for the first goal of the second half. From just on 50, he kicks his 2nd for the day and continues Sydney’s dominant performance. (Q3 1:41)
Jack receives the soft free kick for a push in the back at the top of the goalsquare and easily nails another Sydney goal. It’s an onslaught at the SCG! (Q3 4:13)
Franklin attacks the ball like a steam train, but can’t hold the mark. Papley crumbs the pack excellently in front of Weller, slotting a goal on the run from 25 out. (Q3 5:23)
Midway through the third term, Mundy finally puts his side into double figures on the scoreboard. Stephen Hill with the spot-up, Mundy with the set shot from about 40. (Q3 8:12)
Papley roves a Rohan bomb which clears behind the pack. Tom runs into an open goal. The onslaught continues. (Q3 12:24)
McCarthy passes to Ballantyne, who finds Deluca on the lead. From just inside the 50 with minimal angle, he kicks truly. Goal to Freo! (Q3 15:55)
Hannebery roves the centre bounce brilliantly, clearing it forward to Reid who marks. His shot misses wide. (Q3 17:42)
Ballantyne pops it up to the hot spot where Taberner marks strongly over the shorter Sydney defenders. He’s played well today, but can’t convert this time from 35. (Q3 20:25)
Cam McCarthy earns a free kick for a strong tackle on Nick Smith. On a tight angle in the forward pocket, he finishes nicely. (Q3 22:27)
Rohan breaks a tackle in the forward pocket and handballs to Jack, who was involved earlier in the play. He can’t capitalise though, his quick shot missing to the right. (Q4 2:43)
A high-roving Franklin hits up Hayward in open space. From 40m out with no significant angle, he just misses. (Q4 4:05)
McVeigh spots Zak Jones in the forward 50 among other options. With a grin, Zak Jones somehow wobbles an absolute mongrel kick through the big sticks for a goal. (Q4 5:40)
Franklin will line up for goal number 5 of the afternoon thanks to a free kick for a Hamling push-out. His kick from 45 narrowly misses. His first minor score of the day. (Q4 7:45)
Fyfe, Hill, then a mark or free kick – take your pick – to McCarthy against Melican. Cam slots the relatively straightforward shot from 30m out for his second. (Q4 9:10)
Fyfe streams out of the centre circle and launches a flying shot from 60. It bounces through for a behind. (Q4 9:42)
McVeigh bravely attemps a mark but the ball spills out. Towers picks it up, hands to Hayward, who snaps truly from 25. Another goal for the Swans. (Q4 11:55)
With the outstretched dukes, Tippett marks a Hewett pass 40m out on a 45 degree angle. He kicks his second for the day and the Swans are approaching the 100 point margin. (Q4 16:56)
It’s deja vu with Hewett finding Tippett in an almost identical position. He plays on this time and hits Franklin on the lead. Buddy misses to the narrow side from 35m with angle. (Q4 18:43)
Grundy finds McVeigh who marks near the boundary under pressure. From 45m out, his set-shot is flawless. Margin draws out to 98 points. (Q4 26:57)
Suban slips over allowing Parker to take the uncontested mark from a Heeney pass. Parker caps off a stellar individual and team performance with with third goal of the day. (Q4 28:21)
