Dangerfield, Banner and Rockliff oh my!

    • Arky 5:49 pm on March 25, 2010 Permalink

I always knew I was right that Buckley deserved the Norm Smith over Voss that year. Voss clearly has no consideration for the humble DT player.

      I mean RAINES?!

On the other hand- Todd Banfield.

      Hmm.

Lol being named on the extended bench doesn’t mean their place isnt secure ALTHOUGH it is worth noting he missed a bit of pre-season with an injury and might still not be 100%. If fit he is guaranteed to play ahead of Young, Sloane, Armstrong and Petrenko. My prediction is that Maric will not play since Griff and Tippo will have the ruck covered. Young and Armstrong also to be dropped.

Ryder named as FF. Though Hille would be named as FF with Ryder in the ruck. Maybe this suggests Ryder will spend more time forward than Hille?

Monty- the Age quote Brad Scott as saying that Bastinac is definitely debuting, and that Tarrant is at least on the extended bench of 25. Still not much though!

Thankyou, Damien Hardwick for picking non-mid rookies.

Not sure whether to be happy Kane Lucas will debut later as a possible downgrade, or sad that he won’t be a round 1 nuffie trap. Interesting that Hadley isn’t even an emergency. Hard to say who in that team is the designated seat-warmer, might depend on performance by Yarran, Anderson and Houlihack.

Also a big HA to anyone who bought Ratten’s nonsense about not playing Kreuzer forward, unless naming him at FF is a ruse…

    • TigerFever 6:41 pm on March 24, 2010 Permalink

Why is Tuck not playing. I don’t want to have a crack a hardwick in round 1 but how did thompson get a game before him…….. Not Happy at all.

    • Jeesh 6:48 pm on March 24, 2010 Permalink

Nason starting in the middle, is he a tagger? How many games do you expect him to play? Could be a better option than the other cheap defenders.

    • jbking 7:51 pm on March 24, 2010 Permalink

Any thoughts on connors vs martin?
what is the word on nason …should he replace lisle in my team?

    • deadsets 8:49 pm on March 24, 2010 Permalink

bit early probably to call Nason over Leslie but Nason is certainly in favour down at Tiger land and if he shows some form could play alot of games. Ive had him for a while and would pick him over Leslie now that he is picked in the centre round one. Get on him!!

    • Max Power 9:00 pm on March 24, 2010 Permalink

      Leslie?

    • Dunlop 1:46 am on March 25, 2010 Permalink

      @ Arky

Armfield (when match fit) will fit back in there as well as Judd, personally I think Anderson & Yarran are the shakiest, unless they find a match-up for Anderson each week.

      @ TigerFever

Tuck was axed straight after the Hawk loss and only played 1 of the NAB Challenges – which also happened to be the one that they rested 13 of the Rd1 22, including all midfielders bar Jackson. Thomson didn’t look too bad against Dons, got a few clean clearances, does need to find the ball a lot more though.

      @ Jeesh

Nason isn’t a tagger, he plays HFF/wing. My only concern is I’ve seen his last 2 games and they were poles apart: against Collingwood (1st game back from the knee) he played at least half the game if not 3/4s and looked lost – did a lot of running around, but got nowhere near the ball most of the time. Against Essendon however, he looked very good – he found space out on the wing, his disposal was generally good and he won a fair bit of his own ball as well.

Kreuzer starting up forward. Not happy Jan.

    • Dunlop 6:21 pm on March 24, 2010 Permalink

Apparently Anderson has been brought in specifically to tag a player, which generally isn’t a role that aids itself to scoring well in DT. But we shall see what happens tomorrow…

    • Jeesh 6:40 pm on March 24, 2010 Permalink

Your not bad Monty, 1 selection off perfection.

    • m0nty 7:02 pm on March 24, 2010 Permalink

Anderson on Deledio, Dunlop? One wonders why Grigg isn’t sufficient for the task.

    • Arky 8:30 pm on March 24, 2010 Permalink

Joseph is #1 tagger for Carlton isn’t he? Would assume Joseph for Deledio, and if they’re bringing in a second tagger for the occasion it’s probably for Cousins.

I don’t really rate Grigg, so if Ratten thinks Anderson has gone past him it doesn’t seem unreasonable to me.

    • Dunlop 1:38 am on March 25, 2010 Permalink

      @ Monty.

Very likely, either Deledio or Cotchin.

Given this Carlton BF poster was correct on Anderson (said he was in the side Tuesday night – and copped plenty for it), we’ll see whether his other 3 statements come to fruition:

      • Gibbs to go to Deledio, possibly as early as the bounce, to attempt to break the (expected) Jackson tag
      • Kreuzer to pop up in a new position: RR
      • A early brawl to break out as Richmond will play the man as much as the ball to make a statement that they won’t be pushed around

There is no way Suban isn’t best 22. Just saying I follow freo a little as one of my side teams i feel a soft spot for and Suban is much loved and touted as a leader. he will play round 1

    • xztatik 11:06 pm on March 22, 2010 Permalink

      Almost Monty!

      In: Petrenko
      Out: SMACK

No way in hell are we taking 8 talls. If Smack plays it will be at the expense of Maric or Griff. I also have Sloane in for VB, just to be cautious, but we’ll see how he comes up.

no way doughty is iffy for the crows the coach who also happens to be my uncle loves him. One of the first picked every week!

    • Mr.Lunch 4:37 pm on March 23, 2010 Permalink

Didn’t notice Ryan Murphy in Freo’s or Dan Talia in Adelaide’s projections. I believe both are pushing for games this year. Thoughts on these guys?

    • Arky 5:40 pm on March 23, 2010 Permalink

Ryan Murphy is the biggest spud still on an AFL senior list, and he’s only still on a senior list because Freo have kept forgetting to draft anyone who can even pretend to be a backup tall forward.

Talia could play this year, but later, and only if injuries get to Adelaide’s senior talls. It’s not likely, but it could happen.

Monty, where’s the Herald-Sun’s late mail on the WB lineup? What’s wrong with Ward and Eagleton?
