do we have an indication of the seriousness of tuck’s shoulder…
or hurley & stokes for that matter?

craig Says: 8:33 pm, April 2nd, 2009

OHEIQHEDTI~!~!@~)*&

I traded Tuck IN. I am sooo stupid. Should listen to my own advice about not trading before teams are announced. >:(

/fail @ dreamteam.

john Says: 8:33 pm, April 2nd, 2009

lol at anyone who has travis tuck

Donsy Says: 8:36 pm, April 2nd, 2009

scotty stevens, hurls.. why do we even bother with fantasy footy

VegasMagic Says: 8:43 pm, April 2nd, 2009

Monty you should really listen to me mate, I told you Hogan would come in round 2.

As for Stokes, soreness is the Geelong way for saying rested or dropped (rested in Stokes’ case, dropped for Lonergan). Expect Stokes to come back next week, Lonergan hopefully not.

TigerFever Says: 8:43 pm, April 2nd, 2009

Craig i did the same thing. Argh i never trade before teams announced but i though he would be fine i am so pissed off at myself!!!!!!!

wce2009 Says: 8:44 pm, April 2nd, 2009

do the squads with the extended benches get culled down to 22 before lockout?

stop....hammertime Says: 8:44 pm, April 2nd, 2009

OUT Hurley, Raines. Not named Broughton. Reckon Hill will not make freo’s final cut.
4 defenders down already.
Plus T.Tuck out and Beams not named yet.
Bye Bye trades.

Dare2Dream Says: 8:49 pm, April 2nd, 2009

wce09 I’m pretty sure they get finalised by about 6pm on a Friday night - should be right to make changes by lock out

GoCrows!!!!!!!!! Says: 8:50 pm, April 2nd, 2009

should i choose trent hentshel, wade thompson or simon hogan

gooms Says: 8:50 pm, April 2nd, 2009

yep well managed to avoid the pitfalls of hurley, tuck etc. but then got hit by a fierce john worsfold right hook which i didnt at all see coming, by that i am referring to spangher and butler. i mean seriously worsfold its not like butler the poor kid hasnt had his fair share of injuries and you go and give him 1 game and then turf him. thats a joke, really i mean persist with him for at least a few games… so a potentially advantageous situation to me created by injuries this round is now out the window…

wce2009 Says: 8:51 pm, April 2nd, 2009

thanks mate

boucks09 Says: 8:54 pm, April 2nd, 2009

Sam Lonergan is out of the Essendon side for 1-2 weeks Monty, after fracturing a bone in his hand. Hurely strained a quad an is out for 2-4.

Quinn is named on the ground (rather than Lonergan in your team).

love4thegame Says: 8:55 pm, April 2nd, 2009

butler is a let down.
got mitch robinson to back him up so its all good.

GoCrows!!!!!!!!! Says: 8:55 pm, April 2nd, 2009

yeah your right bouckss09

SWB Says: 8:56 pm, April 2nd, 2009

How long is tuck out for? Being a butler owner the advantage of seeing everyone elses mid-price go down is now a disadvantage because the best trade target is gone. I can’t afford haselby either so i’ll have to either downgrade raines and upgrade butler or vise-versa. This is a disaster.

m0nty Says: 8:58 pm, April 2nd, 2009

Thanks boucks09, my bad.

Brady Says: 8:58 pm, April 2nd, 2009

When does the prices of players in SC rise? i thouht after the games there prices went up or down on how they performed?

GoCrows!!!!!!!!! Says: 8:59 pm, April 2nd, 2009

whos a good captain choice for this week

travis tuck Says: 9:02 pm, April 2nd, 2009

Say NO to panic trades!
season’s got alooong way to go, be miserly with those trades..
john watch out for the footy karma god when mocking others injuries.. what might happen to your guns this week? ;)

wce2009 Says: 9:02 pm, April 2nd, 2009

think ziebells safe?

palmer10 Says: 9:04 pm, April 2nd, 2009

who should i play this week wade thompson or simon hogan?

Yakuza Says: 9:08 pm, April 2nd, 2009

butler you hack!
is he injured or just dropped from the 25!?

fijian recruit Says: 9:12 pm, April 2nd, 2009

prices change after the player has played three games and then everygame they play after that. works out on an average. is hislop woth it at this stage and how does he go with injuries

Scuzzlebut Says: 9:14 pm, April 2nd, 2009

SWB - Tuck’s shoulder is apparently just briused and he should be back next week.

wce2009 - no North player is ever safe.

the dud Says: 9:16 pm, April 2nd, 2009

damn butler- hopefully beams plays then. not looking good

Ash Says: 9:17 pm, April 2nd, 2009

Can anyone tell us about Tucks injury, i havent heard anything so im hoping its just a bit sore. Monty, ur a hawks fan any news?

XztatiK Says: 9:21 pm, April 2nd, 2009

Yay!!!

Tuck’s out!

Trade people! Trade for your life!!!

Mr Shi T. Backline Says: 9:27 pm, April 2nd, 2009

Anyone know how bad Scott Stevens’ hammy really is?

Big Bad Burley Says: 9:30 pm, April 2nd, 2009

@ gooms

“yep well managed to avoid the pitfalls of hurley, tuck etc”

no offense dipshit but how can that be “well managed”, they are both injured?!?!?

hilly Says: 9:32 pm, April 2nd, 2009

I agree with Big Bad Burley, gooms is a tosser

Dave Duchovny Says: 9:37 pm, April 2nd, 2009

Fuck me, BUCKLEEEEEYYYY? Any info from Melb fans would be appreciated

Scuzzlebut Says: 9:39 pm, April 2nd, 2009

Mr Shi T. Backline - from afl.com: Stevens “complained of hamstring soreness following Wednesday’s training session”, so he shouldn’t be out long. They’re dropping like flies this year though.

macca78 Says: 9:44 pm, April 2nd, 2009

lost cousins, raines, tuck, hurley, so far this week. beams and boughton not named, it’s a great start to the year…

spadgeriffic Says: 9:46 pm, April 2nd, 2009

Dosen’t Freemantle relise what they’re doing to all of us Coaches. WTF aren’t they playing their star rookies. Especially the ones I’ve got!!!

hairy Says: 9:47 pm, April 2nd, 2009

big bad burley you might want to read the quote again

Mr Shi T. Backline Says: 9:53 pm, April 2nd, 2009

Thanks, Scuzzlebut. I hope you’re right. I’m not gonna trade him out just yet, but I’ll be running on no emergency defenders this week.

XztatiK Says: 9:59 pm, April 2nd, 2009

Yep, Scuzzlebut’s got it, Stevens should be back for Freo next week, except training was today not Wednesday. I think with the amount of players pushing for selection at the Crows (Shirley, Symes, Griffin, Thompson, Johncock), they will rest any player with the slightest niggle.

And yeah, I’m not sure gooms said anything wrong there. Calm down Burley and Hilly.

XztatiK Says: 10:01 pm, April 2nd, 2009

Yeah definitely don’t trade Shitty Backline, he’ll be right.

RocknRolla Says: 10:09 pm, April 2nd, 2009

In gooms’ defence, I think he was saying “Well (, I) managed to avoid the pitfalls of…” not that he well managed the avoidance of them.

Just quietly, how much does the injury news after round one suck? Big time! I wouldn’t imagine there would be too many coaches out there, regardless of how well they thought they picked their team that aren’t struggling with the sniff of a doughnut for round two either through injury or omissions. Craziness…

Linus Says: 10:16 pm, April 2nd, 2009

Well thats it… out you go Gilmore. For some reason remedial Harvey likes Spudler Bradley and you’ll be pushed out alot.

pascoe Says: 10:17 pm, April 2nd, 2009

hmmmm travis tuck. ok, if 1 week, then i have tuck and anthony on my bench. therefore if i am to maintain my rank 21 i need rich and robinson to star and get 70 each……is it possible?

Chook Raffle Says: 10:23 pm, April 2nd, 2009

XztatiK I have Tuck and will be definitely trading him out based on your earlier recommendation to trade, trade. Thanks for the advice!!

korza Says: 10:25 pm, April 2nd, 2009

I want to be humble, so i will keep my thoughts to myself.

cranny vegas Says: 10:27 pm, April 2nd, 2009

pascoe, did you just “rank number drop” there?? if your at 21 champ i think your guess is as good as any!! oh and by the way this site is fantastic, i had my highest SC score ever this round. not sure if i can back it up with this many injuries though..

RocknRolla Says: 10:34 pm, April 2nd, 2009

You know who you should ask pascoe - Penny from “Penzy’s Punishers”. She’s all over anyone ranked #21.

Simon Says: 10:35 pm, April 2nd, 2009

I am in stitches… Hurley, Tuck, Spangher, Collier, Raines, Cousins.

Some players are going to be TOAST.

Loving this… first ever time and I am laughing all the way

Pete Says: 10:37 pm, April 2nd, 2009

Kyle Cheney named in the centre, thats a plus for anyone who gambled on a melbourne rookie. If cheney plays another solid game he mite become the trade for raines as hurley is now out. Petrenko fills in my hole of raines down back. annoyed broughton hasn’t even been named in the 25 yet :(

Robin Bancs Says: 10:42 pm, April 2nd, 2009

I followed m0nty’s premium back structure and managed to ensure I had 30 scoring players in the 160 minutes of madness. 1 trade for me. Raynes out, Cheney in. Rd 6 is too long a wait for me given most of the value movement happens from Rd 4-6.

Ash Says: 10:45 pm, April 2nd, 2009

YEAH I have Hurley, Raines, Anthony and Tuck, so i traded Raines for Cheney. Leaving me with 3 guys out for a month or so. Well i dunno about TUCK, i dont think anyone does!!! SO then next week i will trade Anthony for either dangerfield or otten. Make some money and get rid of Hurley for Hodge when he drops.

mitch Says: 10:46 pm, April 2nd, 2009

wen will henderson play

Rorschach Says: 11:13 pm, April 2nd, 2009

robinson to cover tuck and hopefully one out of hill and suban plays so i can avoid a zero >.<

TigerFever Says: 11:14 pm, April 2nd, 2009

Here is a litte on Tuck about his shoulder. They said a AC joint so a week, 2 at MAX.
http://www.hawthornfc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/4742/newsid/74287/default.aspx

Heater Says: 11:22 pm, April 2nd, 2009

Arrrrggggghhhh! Tuck, Beams, Anthony, Raines, Broughton, Henderson, Ballantyne all not playing!!!!!

I knew Ballantyne & Broughton were long term and I was prepared to gamble on them but injuries to Tuck, Raines & Anthony and the non inclusion of Henderson & Beams are really killing me.

Damn your eyes, Fantasy Footy Gods!

bolasacero Says: 11:51 pm, April 2nd, 2009

I’m not as badly affected as others as i have Cheney since start, but not much depth with Raines out. Will be relying on Cheyney getting a regular start and also have Hill and Rance, but am not confident either will get much of a run - especially Hill - he’s my biggest regret thus far, but will see how he does this week before punting him for a more solid option.

Am thinking Houlihan for Hill if he doesn’t perform half decent - whaddaya think?

craig Says: 11:59 pm, April 2nd, 2009

I guess i’m happy with my trades…

Dropped Raines for Cheney, and Anthony out for Tuck… whatever… no more trades bar LTIs till round 7/8

Spector Says: 12:04 am, April 3rd, 2009

Butler is a premiership player and HIGHLY regarded at West Coast. From my perspective they would be taking it really really easy with him so as to not risk him injuring his groin again.

I would be suprised if he wasn’t back into the team within a couple games.

Nick Says: 12:34 am, April 3rd, 2009

Yeah im keeping both Raines and Butler.

Ill just trade Anthony to Robinson to bring in some much needed cash for upgrades, hopefully he holds his spot for at least another 4-5 weeks.

JP Says: 12:38 am, April 3rd, 2009

TRADE, TRADE, TRADE
You may as well bring kids in that are going to make you money, you will need it…… SUCKERS

diddley Says: 1:14 am, April 3rd, 2009

any chance monty, can you list the new players under the ins and outs on these lists mate? the afl website does it, but i hate going to that site, but its the only thing i use it for.

craig Says: 1:20 am, April 3rd, 2009

See i’m happy to burn 1 or 2 trades of the 20 on getting those players that you just weren’t sure about in the first 3 rounds.

E.g. cheney for raines is a fair swap. Cheney should keep his spot, go up in value etc. Whereas keeping raines it’ll take at least 5-6 weeks before he goes up in value… and even then you’re not sure if he’ll be straight back into the side.

Also people that took the punt on Anthony, as i did, would not be stupid in trading in a rookie/other player that actually IS playing and will go up in value. Cash cows are meant to play and go up in value, not just sit on your bench collecting 0’s cause they’re injured (unless they’re a $75k player because you were stupid and structured your team around 75k rookies so you could score another 100k in your 22)

Ads Says: 2:10 am, April 3rd, 2009

Anyone know what is going on with Lachie Henderson at Brisbane? Seems to have dropped off the face of the earth, should we fule missing persons report?

XztatiK Says: 2:15 am, April 3rd, 2009

Hehehe Chook Raffle, good to hear!

XztatiK Says: 2:16 am, April 3rd, 2009

monty, why are the times 2hrs out? I feel like a West Australian, it’s horrible!

Nate Says: 2:55 am, April 3rd, 2009

For those with Scott Stevens, according to the Adelaide site he trained yesterday but had some hamstring soreness. So hopefully it’ll be similar to Scott Thompson, misses a week and plays Round 3

K-Man Says: 3:26 am, April 3rd, 2009

craig im happy that you you are happy to burn your trades so early in the season. Thing is, there will be other injuries to key players, others who get dropped much to our surprise.. all of a sudden 1-2 trades turns into 4-5 by round 3. I have raines, anthony, but will wait a week to see how cheney goes, other players go. Will try and avoid a trade, but reckon the ones who are patient and resist temptation to replace 1 or 2 player early will be okay towards the end.

taz Says: 3:34 am, April 3rd, 2009

anyone reckon trading zeibell for dangerfeild is a good one to make this round?

craig Says: 4:38 am, April 3rd, 2009

no taz. ziebell i reckon is more likely to keep his spot

Micabre Says: 7:56 am, April 3rd, 2009

They are already talking JayZ may miss this week and Rodney is a definite

Azz Says: 8:01 am, April 3rd, 2009

Defence has gone to pieces already!! Raines, Hurley injured, Broughton not named and S Hill a fair chance to miss on the extended bench. Could have 2 zeros this week

Roy Says: 8:23 am, April 3rd, 2009

Raines is down but at least I get Heath Shaw back this week.

Ryan Says: 10:03 am, April 3rd, 2009

Considering Raines to David Myers? what do People Think??? Bit more pricey But should hold his spot

hamish Says: 11:08 am, April 3rd, 2009

i have cousins, raines, mcmahon, tuck, butler, stevens, ziebell(iffy), collier, stokes, browne(bench ruck) and hurley(bench back). so i think this week will go pretty well for me, im hoping a competitive score of say 1300? nah but i will make 2 trades and i dont even know where to start, i have to make them today… please help

oddsok Says: 11:11 am, April 3rd, 2009

Hmm. I can cover my players so that I don’t get any zeros (Tuck-Robinson, Raines-Rance), but I will need one of Hill/Suban to play. That’s got to happen….doesn’t it?

chris Says: 11:51 am, April 3rd, 2009

why would Harvey drop Hill after 1 game, against lets be honest, a likely top 4 side? Gotta give the kid time, and why not against a pretty poor Essendon team? I think Hill will play (well i hope he does)…

mog_dog00 Says: 11:56 am, April 3rd, 2009

hamish m8, u r in a world of ur own. I’d say swap cousins but the rest is up 2 u!

Raf Says: 12:05 pm, April 3rd, 2009

I’m keeping Raines and Butler at least through this week. I don’t like trading on one week’s scores and selection changes (called it the Brennan Factor). I should have cover… if there’s a late back withdrawal, or if Hill doesn’t play, then I cop a donut. So be it. Rather have the extra week’s information than maybe an extra 40-50 points by trading this week.

Having Anthony on the bench is of course not helping.

Hayden Churchill Says: 12:59 pm, April 3rd, 2009

i got off fairly lucky with only raines out this week and i have cover with patrenko goes on the field then suban emerengy and either him or hill will play. Plan on seeing how cheney does this week and will probs trade raines for cheney and make some money

Orbs Says: 1:10 pm, April 3rd, 2009

Im actually starting to think as sad and pathetic as it is my purchase of 75k for Zac Dawson could be a great little coaching acquistion. I think if he dominates he will get me 50 points but i just about reckon with all saints injury woes he will play every week. Its a cheap 30-50 points every week.

Traded anthony for robinson.

Whats the deal with butler though. Has an awesome pre-season, is highly rated and then gets dropped after 1 bad game. Worsfold is a tool, he is trying to build a new side and importantly a new midfield and leaves out one of his best prospects after i game. Wat a DICK!

CrowsFan Says: 1:34 pm, April 3rd, 2009

Hey does anyone know how long simon buckley will be out for???
I managed to pick up 3 injuries this week with buckley, cousins and raines.
Don’t even know why i picked cousins, i knew his hamstrings would be a problem!

Chris Says: 2:01 pm, April 3rd, 2009

Whats wrong with Stokes? Or is he rested/dropped?

the eagle Says: 2:01 pm, April 3rd, 2009

hey orbs im in the same boat i got on dawson as silly as it sounds but least ull get 30-50 points a week least for 6-8 rounds and will rise in value in time for a upgrade….only got him because i wasnt sure on hill at the start

Chad Says: 2:10 pm, April 3rd, 2009

Chris, team sheet says General Soreness (basically being rested)

brock Says: 2:49 pm, April 3rd, 2009

Surely people have to look to early rounds and who you are playing in your league? I have to cover Raines, cousins and possibly Robert Murphy. Bad luck for me i have our league leader round 1 who scored 2300 odd, and other high scorers rounds 5 & 6. So for me trades are important, if your playing someone else struggling why waste early trades? As for my trades can cover raines i think but will trade Cousins before round 3. Anyone know how bad Murphy is?

What is wrong with our media fraternity,i as a Victorian am appalled at Ch7s decision of not streaming live the friday night game.

I am a firm believer that every Friday night game should be beamed live around the country.

Although most sites like this one, would prefer delayed telecasts, i am sure we as footy fans prefer to watch it live.

Another night with Monty.

@ rock n rolla your spot on, i just didnt make it as clear as it could of been..

@ Big Bad Burley get your dictionary out and look up at uses of the word manage… how could i plan to avoid injury, thats ridiculous.. i am sorry my eloquence wasnt up to scratch, i will try harder next time.

Korza try being in WA, the friday game is generally over by the time it starts on tv, sucks, 7 won’t even put it live when a local side is playing because it ruins the ratings for better homes and gardens or some shit. Its bullshit

Pendlebury didnt train with the main group and is in doubt to play.
Beams would surely be the replacement?

Anyone know if Sauban is going to play would be much appreciated! Knowing this will decide if I trade Raines or not?

Does anyone have any information about Buckley’s injury? How long will he be out for?

LC Says: 10:09 pm, April 3rd, 2009

Monty how about a timely announcement somewhere on the site each week about any late changes or that teams are as named for the first game of the round? Users trading in players for the first game can avoid Chapman 08 for example.

Grinners Says: 1:04 am, April 4th, 2009

why is anyone thinking of trading anybody after only one round ??? you don’t win premierships in april :)
