Mitch Robinson’s debut was overshadowed by 2009’s most popular fantasy player injuring his knee.
The mainstream media were all talking about Ben Cousins, but fantasy coaches’ eyes were mostly glued to the progress of Andrew Raines on Thursday night, and he was having about as good a game as could be expected under the circumstances until he fell with a grimace in the last quarter and came off limping with a problem in what coach Terry Wallace described later as the lateral outside of the left knee. Dr Peter Larkins diagnosed the injury as bruising on radio MMM at the time, but no one will know for sure until the swelling goes down and scans are done in the next couple of days.
Those of us who bought him - and according to FanFooty’s databases, he is the most popular player among those of you who have used FanFooty’s Exteam feature (which is how you get live team and head to head scoring) - will be hoping that it’s just bruising and nothing more serious, because this could be the start of a 2008-level backopalypse given the continuing paucity of options around his price. With Lachie Henderson not making the Lions 25, if his owners are to be forced into a sideways trade, the options are players like Jarryn Geary, Josh Head, Shannon Hurn and Ricky Petterd, all of whom have upside and/or fitness concerns. Depending on the length of the injury, the temptation may be to rely on Stephen Hill, Jared Petrenko or the like while Raines recovers… but that’s why they were on the bench in the first place, we didn’t want to start a darn rookie in the backs! Gah!
Robinson’s excellent numbers, however, were a welcome sight to those who made the right decision, especially those who were hemming and hawing over him or Dayne Beams and couldn’t get into the sites during the 160 minutes of maelstrom. For myself, however, it was tinged with a flash of hatred for Dean Laidley. I don’t need much reason to hate him at the best of times, but I have now discovered how, even though he has named Liam Anthony and Jack Ziebell in his starting 18 for round 1, he is going to sabotage my team: he has somehow managed to convince me subconsciously to leave Robinson as an emergency and start Anthony, which could cost me anywhere up to 80 points! Grr!
Ryan Houlihan looked like being a bit of a disappointment by not joining in the party, but it was an excellent sign for fantasy purposes that he got some cheap numbers in the last quarter when he was rotated into the middle to give the regulars a rest. He’ll be right. The frustrating thing about it from my point of view is that he may very well be the nuff-nuffs’ trade of choice for Raines, if (as they wouldn’t have if they hadn’t done their research) they didn’t have Houlihan to begin with. Feh!
Those of you who were whinging in the chat about my recent potting of Chris Judd will not get a retraction. My comments were only ever fantasy related - and I didn’t rule him out of SC considerations. Give it a month and see if he’s still averaging 100 in DT. Harrumph!
I’m sure there are plenty of other aspects of this game you want to talk about in the comments, so I’ll leave the rest to you and go to bed. It’s been a big day, with the kicker being that Champion Data have decided, in their infinite wisdom, that no one should have live Super Coach scores - not even the Super Coach site! Further news on this if it comes to hand. Rest assured that the SC numbers currently on FanFooty are the right ones - beware incorrect imitations. I’ll post my teams tomorrow for you to snipe at. I hope your team went well!

The only thing that makes the raines injury bearable for me is knowing that 90% of people have him and they will all be in the same boat
I couldn’t watch the game, caught the stats after.
Wondering, wtf happened to NG Brown in second half…?
As to Raines, I am thinking of keeping him, maybe, depending on length/seriousness of injury, who knows, could make him a unique! haha
Monty - from New York City - many thanks for your blogs/insight/humor over the last few months leading up to that crazy 160 minutes last night, followed by Cousins torn hammy….poor bastard.
As a newbie to this site, but not SC - I’m assuming that your around all season right to help us poor lost souls?
Certainly some surprises at the selection table last night - had many coaches punching their computer screens - and that was before they tried to log onto SC - which basically fizzled out like a lame duck.
No live SC scores this year it seems huh?
I guess the AFL does wield the power by only promoting live DT scores…..or is this a Champion Data decision?
Again thanks - could NEVER have put together an semi-decent without you.
Best, SimonOz
i couldnt get in to get broughton out of my side so im stuck with broughton and suban on the bench with an injured raines…
Stupidly i went Houlihan to raines on the last day to save the 50k. If the knee is bad i might have to re pay that 50k and the more valuable trade to get houlihan back on board. Lets hope the knee isn’t that bad.
Deledio was crap, but got some garbage for me to get to 85, 85 from newman is good enough. Simmonds 97 is a good start and raines scored well until the knee.
I think an interesting point though monty, is that round 1 scores only count in 1 price change instead of the normal 3. Which is bad for mitch robinson owners, but good for joel bowden owners.
@ben
I’m in the same boat….
same traded houlihan to raines to save the money i am an idiot
There was lots of downhill skiing in that game, so i wouldn’t be too scared by Judds ‘high’ score. It really should have been a lot higher.
Congradulations to fanfooty for holding up on what was a nightmare for all fantasy sites.
Thanks Monty on your wisdom to provide us with a an alternative to mainstream media.
PS:Your D/T S/C sides were up last night i cant seem to find them.?
Glad to say I didn’t have Raines. Had him in my team a few years back and he drove me mad so wasn’t going to follow up again. Houlihan was great, in the end. Managed to get in and change Broughton with Petrenko, I’ll have a full team but wish I’d kept Robinson
I was one of the lucky ones who sarcrficed the 50k to upgarde from raines to houlihan. I just think he is a much “cheaper” player as in gets sleasy sideways kicks and what not but his 6 tackles really suprised me i must say. Also traded enright for scotland which alhough he didnt get the 100 i was hoping for there was definitely signs that once he gits fit he will come very good.
On the downside had brown who looked awesome early and then when they started to get thumped wallace leaves his best skilled player sitting at full forward. WTF????? Was he not seeing the amount of turn overs coming out of defence? Why not put brown as a sweeper? What a tool!
Deledio also was shocking but still got 85. I guess that could be seen as a good sign??
Just curious what was everyones thoughts on jacobs game? Im not sure how how many people in my boat with jacobs and spencer as the backup rucks? Im a little concerned that one stevens, carazzo, fischer and walker are back even though they are not ruckmen jacobs will be gone!!!
LASTLY. How did bruce matthews from the sun not have wiggins in his best?? I thought he was the best man on the field and yet he didnt even give him a vote?? What a tool!! Im guessing no one backed wiggins on the new fantasy sportingbet site??
Let’s hope the vestigial organ/Laidley incarnate that is mark harvey does the right thing and plays Suban and/or Broughton for the next few weeks to cover for Raines.
Raines - depending on the extent of his injury I’ll keep him for the moment. If he is out for sometime the biggest problem is who to replace him with…..
Houlihan - Glad to see he got easy possies in junk time. He will be the best cash cow down back IMO.
I was happy and sad about last nights game but in a different way to most. I couldn’t celebrate Robinson’s debut as I couldn’t get the site to work when I tried to bring him in for Beams but two days ago I swapped Raines to Geary after having Raines in my team for 3 weeks so I was happy to see him go down :p
raines is a spastic, good luck to you all rectifying that injury prone point bleeder…
What are some of you people on? People that traded Raines out are happy at their decision!! It is a horrible deision not to have Raines in your team, he has been playing for 5 years now and had 22 games in 2007 & 2006. Now with Richmond’s game of kicking around in the back Raines (if fit) would have been racking it up, not to mention that he pushes in the middle as link player at times. It was always a risk as he is injury prone but it’s one that everyone should have been willing to take duw to his price. Swapping him last minute for Geary, Houlihan, Hill etc. is not a good coaching decision. In hindsight it might have been the “lucky” decision but not a good one. If you are doing trades like that I would love to see the rest of your team. And people….. face it, you’re probably gonna have to trade him out so stop with the hoping.
Secondly, don’t go trading your Browns and Deledios, especially for players like Wiggins. You have good players in your team and shouldn’t be thinking of trading them to players that performed in one week. Watch the games and see why players got what they got. Superstars will always remain superstars. Deledio has one of the worst games ive seen him play (both performance and DT) and still got 85. Imagine when he plays!!!
Also watch rookies like Mitch Robinson. Out of all the players (like Kruezer) who scored insanely unrealistic scores for themselves, I think that Robinson was one of the few that actually will continue. His workrate is unbelievable and his aggression at players and the ball are that of a seasones AFl player.
Anyway that’s my two cents
The Hard Word……. Out
Judd resting up forward was interesting to see. I’m not sure who is going to get the flick when Stevens comes back round three, Ratten looked really impressed with Robinson, you’d be crazy to drop him wouldn’t you?
Richmond got exactly what they were asking for that game, dropped uncontested marks in their defensive fifty, turnover after turnover, I couldn’t believe I thought they would have a chance at the finals this year. I’m sorry, they looked sub-VFL. It was embarrassing to watch and I’m a Fremantle fan, I should be used to it.
So long as Raines is given a definitive diagnosis and a definite return date sometime within a month then I’ll keep him. If he sounds at all like he’s being wrapped in cotton wool then I’m jumping off him as quickly as I can. I’m not interested in waiting four weeks to be told Friday afternoon when the team sheets are done that they’re going to play it safe for another week, over and over.
Cousins injury looked pretty ordinary, with all the buildup and pressure on him I half expected his leg to be flung off Luke Ball style as the muscle went. I feel for the bloke and his club’s supporters, it just about summed it up for them, taken out of the game on less than 50 points without much more to give.
Good returns out of Gartlet and Jacobs. I expected 20 points less out of each but they both played into space to take marks, very impressed.
Like the tigers of old… it was great to see Richo kicking the dirt again, that’s when he’s at his most entertaining.
Same as many others, I got stuck with Suban and Broughton on the bench and Raines…
Dare I say it’s round 1, and all these stats and the result are pretty meaningless aside from the injuries.
Won’t be the last shocker suffered by a supposed good team in round 1.
I did fairly reasonable last night, considering Deledio and Raines, whom everyone would have had anyway both didn’t (Raines lesser degree) put the scores we were expecting. I had an average of 87.25 between 4 players: Judd, Houlihan, Raines and Deledio, which is somewhat okay.
I’ve missed the Robinson boat, by picking Otten over him. However I’m confident he Otten will outscore Robinson in the long run.
I think in regards to trading Raines, I might wait it out depending on the extent of his injury, but seeing as I took the Goddard risk I’m a bit paranoid, luckily I got S.Hill and Petrenko on the bench for coverage whom should both play.
To Boomerforbrownlow, I’m so happy the highlight of your night was seeing Raines ‘go down’. Have you ever heard of Karma. You wanna start hoping Brent Harvey doesn’t do his knee and require a full reco in the coming week or two. It might bring some joy to similiar grubs such as you. What sort of a dog gets delight out of player injuries? Care to retract your earlier statement grub?
Listened to my mate last night who was on the train who was crying to me on his mobile on his way back from the G - I felt awkward sitting there in my loungeroom listening to him bawl - Geez, to think they’ve got the rampaging Cats at Cardinia next week. That’ll be a really long trainride back for him - he’ll have to take a bucket to catch all the tears
monty judd didnt even play that good last night, yet still scored 100 what more can you ask of him
What’s the use of having lockout at 7:40 if you can’t use the site in the two hours prior to that? The teams are posted at 5pm but it’s impossible to juggle your bench, emergencies etc because the site is grossly overcrowded. Not good enough. Like many others sold Houlihan for Raines - because of lockout couldn’t get Thompson out of midfield to make room for Robinson - I’ll really be crying in my beer when Bombers get pasted on Sunday.
Didn’t rule him out for SC? “He is a risk few should be taking”. Nice try Monty.
I will take a ‘wait and see’ approach with Raines. I’m covered on the bench to persist with Raines through an injury.
Will be relying on some rookies playing though.
Yeah f..kin a right Socko - an injured player is not something to be happy about - pull your head in Boomerforbrownlow - this isnt Youtube where you can just flame other users for the sheer fun of it like some moronic antisocial teenage punk - I’d like to think tha Fanfooty is a better place than that
Good thing I took the mail on Cuz and cut him out of the final 30 - feel sorry for the poor bloke
Yeah i agree he is a dog….
does anyone know when raines’s injury details will be realesed, like the actual report not just some prediction cos im unsure whether to keep him, what is everyone else thinking????
I would wait before pushing the panic button on Raines. I am personally satisfied with his score last night given his starting price. At the worst make him your first upgrade/downgrade or bench him and wait for him to recover, the Doc on MMM didn’t seem to think it was that serious.
Key is hang in there and don’t make any rash decisions, a long round and season ahead.
@ Socko
“hear hear” mate.
@ Boomerforbrownlow
You are an amoeba that feeds on the parasites that live on shark shit.
On Mitch Robbo’s R1 debut - As the young actress said to the vicar “you have come a long way very quickly”
SEN is god this morning - KB not so much - really like Neil Balme’s soothing intellect and intelligence - he reminds me of my footy mad but gentle grandad now passed
Hardword i never said anything about picking up wiggins, i just said he dominated last night and didnt get a look into the papers top5 which i thought was stiff. Their is also a new betting site “sporting bet” where you can bet on players DT scores. I had a few bob on brown last night (wooooops!! Although i was excited to quarter time) and wiggins top scored so i dont think anyone would have seen that.
And on Raines i dont think its a bad coaching decision to not have him. Maybe 90% of people would disagree but from the game i watch of him he doesnt mark the footy and lets be honest blokes like judd and mitchell can get away with that because they get 30 touches with tackles, but when your a running handballing defender your just not going to post big scores. Raines is a good player, he is not cheap and sits out like houlihan getting 6 points everytime he gets on his own. Last night Raines was involved in an awesome passage of play where he dashed out of defence had 2 handballs and a kick for 7 points. It was great to watch! 2 minutes later houlihan gets a sidewast kick for pretty much the same points. Thats why i personally chose him over raines. You cant go and say its a bad coaching decision.
Hey Monty,
Just wanted to say you’ve done a stand up job in the last couple of weeks man. Thanks for all your work and articles such as this one.
anyone who thinks there an idiot for trading houlihan for raines in the last few days (me included) needs to realise you gotta have faith players luck will improve eventually. thats what im hoping for drummond this year and gumby next!
Monty, I have Judd but agree with your comments. He never takes marks so he is quite often BOG with a score around 100, which is still a good score but not top shelf. That’s why I’ll never have him as DT captain, but always have him in SC.
Keep up the good work, this is a great site!
monty ur a joke. judd gets 100 with only 23 possessions and 1 mark. and at only 378000 i dont think he needs to avg 100 to be a worthy pick up
Dont panic about Raines - dont even think about pushing the button until you see the sides next week. Everyones’s gone Raines mad today - and remeber the golden rule -
dont drink and trade
ha ha muppet
Cuz has just arrived at Prahran Medical in a silver Subaru…..
I was always going to have Raines in the DT but he sucked me in SC as well. Raines frustrated the hell out of me 2 years ago with SC but here I am again wondering why i picked him in SC.
Gets the ball runs into traffic, disposes of it under pressure.
hey monty ive done the exact same thing in my team, feel that pain…lets just hope anthony gets as much of a run
Mark Harvey, the fuckwit, has left Stephen Hill out of the team for Sunday but Suban is named on the interchange bench.
Aaarrrrrrrrrggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At least Petrenko will be able to cover for him, but that is one less week that little cash cow will have to graze in the lush DT paddock.
I didn’t take Houlihan on purpose, because I regard him as a hack who will average 70 and make not enough money to justify that starting price.
I don’t think being able to get to 90 in junk time of an absolute procession is a useful guide to how he will score for the rest of the season, but if the nuff-nuffs trade Raines to Houlihan because of it I won’t say no
Thanks for all your kind words, fellas. And yes, I would hope that FanFooty is a better place than that… I was deleting false rumours in the comments before lockout, for instance. We do require a bit of decorum here.
i couldnt get on to do any changes, good to see suban in. Where do you think he will play monty? get much of a run? wat bout anthony?
I couldnt believe what Devastated said until I saw it - maybe Harvs in his bizzare logic is trying to learn Hill that nothing gets taken for granted. I hope the Doggies wallop them though the tote has the Doggies as outsiders? I had a big quarter quad last night but didn’t cover the Carlton blow out. It paid over $2K. I enjoy watching footy less whan I’m punting on it - why do I do it?
As a WCE supporter, and once having a Cousins man-crush, I think subconsciously alot of people didn’t want this fairytale to succeed. I do not take delight in injuries, but I thought his game prior to that showed signs of promise …. But nothing to match all this media hype. It was a bit of a circus, so im glad he’s removed for a few weeks to get used to it all again.
Raines …. Fingers crossed its just bruising. Pretty sure ill keep him on the bennch if its a 3-4 week injury. Patrenko and Broughton should have him covered.
So is Steven Hill not in the 25 for the Dockers? Definite? That really peeves me. Stupid Bomber Harvey. Idiot.
Oh yeah …. So I had Uni on Thursday until 4pm. I rushed home to make my change from Broughton to Suban …. Only for the site to be overloaded. I then realised I hadnt picked my Emergencies. Should only get 1 zero …. thanks Lachie Henderson.
Let’s hire someone to follow around Raines until we get a verdict on the knee. Does anyone know anything yet? When is it getting scanned?
Where is the Harvey news about Hill guys ?
I really dislike Mark Harvey at the moment (if the news if true. Where did you see this info?)
Bloody DT site didn’t allow me to change my emergancies last minute, so I have no one to cover Hill in the backs. And if it wasn’t for Sylvia not being picked I wouldn’t be stuck with a sore Fev.
Fingers crossed Raines isn’t too bad. I’d rather weather it out, than waste a trade, because I already have Houlihan.
Gentlemen dont stress for those of you that have not picked up ryan houlihan, I doubt that he will keep scoring as well as he did. I was observing the game and he was going terrible up until the 3rd quarter. The only reason he scored so well is because the blues absolutely smashed the tigers…..
I’ve now checked 7 sites…..nothing out there that Harvey has named the 22…..why would he 5 hrs before he has to ?
Muppet & Devastated - spam or fact boys?
fortunately i didnt add cousins to my team,
but i also traded in mitch morton for josh hill a few hours before the match started.
That was a mistake, but hopefully johj goes well…
yerrr marc murphhy
hill is named on an extended bench..he’ll probably play
The teams were up on the Game Day Live site, with no Hill and Suban on the interchange. Here’s hoping it is wrong then and Harvey does change it before he has to lock it in.
nah the game day live site doesnt mean shit..hes made no final decisions yet
Theres no guarantee yet that he makes the 22, but he hasn’t yet NOT made it….
“”"But the coach said he would assess the Bulldogs’ likely line-up before making a final decision on whether to include the fleet-footed midfielder/defender, who weighs just 69kg.
“I’ve been happy with the way he’s gone,” Harvey said.
“I said to him that he’s got to learn to, when he does get a senior game, to look after himself.
“But having said that we’ll have some guys (who can do that) in and around him anyhow if he does play.” “”"”
Hitler Dreamteam Parody Vid
This is pure gold - probably best to wait to get home due to language only - gold
http://www.overstream.net/view.php?oid=r7aeu1usror6
Monty - it’s a good old mess with the subtitles parody about Hitlers dreamteam
Really hope Raines is okay, maybe miss a week at most. In DT have PEtrenko to cover him and in SC have Suckling (if he gets another gig) & Petrenko to cover.
Houlihan will do well in a good team, his scores will hover around that mark all year. Have him in SC not DT however. Was thinking his FA’s were going to kill me until his junk time stats.
Any further news on Goddard at all??
the game day live lineups arent right until just a short time before the games. daniel ginaciracusa is not even named on the interchange bench for the doggies at the moment which will be corrected later, as will be the inclusion of Hill
that sucks about Hill… my backline is starting to look a bit shacky.. eeek
If Hill were not to play, and Freo loses.Harvey may as well pack his bags and head home.I hear thier maybe a coaching position available down at punt road.
Terry Wallace and his love for hasbeens (Cousins,Bowden,Brown, and Richo’s role) will eventually cost him his job…
Based on Harvey’s /08 decision with Palmer not playing round 1.He will not suffer the same fate with Hill.
@ Brad & Socko
You kids need to relax. I didn’t say I was jumping up and down when I saw the guy got injured. I just said that I was happy. It’s not that big a surprise. Any one of the 10% of DTers who didn’t choose Raines would have felt happy with their selection after he got injured. My reaction wasn’t “yay he is down”, it was “thank f**k i traded him out”
zach is correct the GDL lineups mean nothing. I would say Hill will play, as the West carried an article today quoting Ken Judge putting even more pressure on Harvey to play Hill. Then again Harvey might drop him just to spite the West. Football’s a funny game in Perth…
anyone know how long crow Scott Thompson is supposed to be out with hammy?
Ronl: Hammies are usually 2-3 weeks so my guess he may be back for Rd4. Depends when he did it, severity, etc. Doing his hammy probably sums up his pre-season…..
In regards to S.Hill. I’d be very surprised if he did not play. Sure the guys’ a bit skinny but his skills are exceptional and that is what Freo need FFS! Have a look at Garlett for Carlton; the kid is all prick and ribs yet he played and played well. lets hope Harvs throws caution to the wind and plays these young kids; Freo fans (like us all) need something to look forward to in the future.
Totally off-topic but this one seems to be moving quick. I was just wondering how serious some people take their DT (monty?). Me and my mates have been playing for about 6 years, and it gets more and more serious each year. We all chuck in $50 each with the winner taking the lot. A few years back we got a trophy so the last 3 years have their names engraved and get to keep it at their place for the year. Last year the interest was so big that we started an A and B grade compeition. The bottom 4 teams in A grade made way for the top four in B grade this year so we are really hoping to get a high league ranking. Last year we ha a shocker and finished around 250 but the year before we finished 20th which was a great result.
So yeah just interested what other people do? I was speaking to a guy i work with that has mid and end of season awards and they all go out for dinner and get trashed. PRetty funny stuff.
To those who didnt have Raines and are justifying their decision arguing he wouldnt score well anyway:
Last night he played in a team that were thumped and scored about 70. Times this by the magic number and you come up with a value of $300k.
Not bad for a $188k investment.
Argue he was an injury risk, sure, but dont say he wasnt going to average about 60ppg.
Goldmoss makes a good point. 76% of FanFooty exteams had Raines in them. I see that as a good indicator of how important he was because I rate FF users’ knowledge.
Goldmoss, can you please enlighten me as to what the magic number is or where i can find the formula?
I would be very appreciative.
Yes Goldmoss - whats the magic number?
For those of you ready to jump on the Mitch Robinson band-wagon i think you should first consider this: lookin at Carltons list they have great depth this year which means in the coming weeks (unless if theres more injuries) someone who has performed well will have to make way for Stevens, Grigg, Carrazzo, Walker etc. Given how good Carltons defensive pressure was last night i doubt it will be Wiggins or Hadley after they had 20 tackles between them to go with their 20 odd possessions each. Grigg for Joseph next week, i think Garlett will ONLY make way IF Yarran is picked, Johnson will ONLY make way IF Carrazzo is picked… That leaves Walker, and with Stevens in for Round 3 and the only 2 likely players i see to make way are Russell & Robinson… it would be tragic to see Robinson dropped just b4 the bubble with 2 solid games…

hey guys
raines injured = bad news. and even worse if its anymore than 4 games that he’ll miss.
although as for trading him (if needed) i think the man to replace him at tigerland will be alex rance, has looked the goods through the preseason, has the body and is ready for afl, and plays a simarlar game style to raines (run and carry). also consistantly averaged around 50 in SC through the nab challege games. could be a good cash cow.
I’ve always had rance as emg so thats who im hoping will replace him anyway if the injury is worse than expected.
Hey Monty thats a bit harsh.I was feeling pretty good about myself until i read your last post.Does that mean any nuff nuff who enters a team in ff gets a rate.Wow…
Did you buy Raines, korza? If so, then I rate you…
Hello Korza,
Assume that is the magic number?
How do you apply that to the averages?
Am i that stupid that i am missing something totally obvious?
i hate you monty
@ Brad ave multiplied by the MAGIC NUMBER will give $k
@ Monty D/T yes S/C a big NO take a look…
I was not trying to be antagonistic maybe i just took it the wrong way.
And i rate all opinions weather good or bad it only makes me a better player.
Hahahah to the wannabe me
@ Korza,
Thanks a lot mate.
Cheers
@Brad
I think you will find Korza was having a lend of you!
The player prices, at the start of the season, with the exception of rookies and “discounted players” are the 08 Average x a “magic number” (which is approx 4,440 for DT).
So, if you think Raines “true” average is 70 (i.e like he scored last night)his “true” price would be 70 x 4,400 = 310,800 i.e a $300K player.
Obviously he will only rise to $300K if he can string together more than 1 game!!
@ Lovepelican
Thanks for clarifying mate.
What ideas do all the FF readers have on the best replacement for Cousins around the same value??
“On other news, recently elevated rookie Wade Thompson has been left out of the side to tackle the Bombers at AAMI Stadium on Sunday.Tom Logan and Toby Thurstans are also likely to miss out when the squad is cut to 22 on Friday afternoon.”
you beauty, thurstans out.
@ Pelican head.
Dont slag my theory im just going off the ff exteam experts.
Goldmoss clearly stated Raines would be a $300k value player if he were to ave 70pts.
If the highly rated Goldmoss had said $310,800.You are 100% correct.
I have a caculator here in front of me and $300k devided 70pts will give you the MAGICAL NUMBER.
raines arrggghhhhh
well i think i’ll be trading him unless petrenko, hill and suban give decent numbers.
will be watching the numbers of the eagles, st kilda and essendon games as my replacement would come from there.
@ Korza
Thats some calculator. Gives answers to 25 decimal points!!
Like 712K divided by 132 gives you the SC Ablett number?
well if there was a coach position in fantasy footy it would be great to see everyone dumping terry wallace like a load of chookpoo after that appalling display. good work plough for selecting mitch morton but the tiges looked like no-one had told them they would be playing a game last night. no ideas about cousins cause you were foolish if you had him, looked so unfit.
no idea about SC - why they didn’t allow more space, knowing the rush would come, is beyond me.
ps name change: i will post as benno now as another ben or two have popped up (like anyone will notice my infrequent comments).
say no more the rated ffs with the magical numbers
Andrew Raines out for min 3-4. Could be more
devastated, you fuckwit, keep your bogus misinformation to yrself. hill has been named on a long bench.
@ Muppet
Yes, i.e approx $5,400 per point.
So based on Raines’s score last night of 54, he is a $292K player (ie 54 x 5,400) which is close to his actual price of $280K).
Which very limited info suggests he is not a bargain in SC but is in DT!!
@ Korza,
I did some calculations based on your “magic number” and it seems pretty close to spot on i reckon.
@ Benno
LOL
@ Knox
Raines link please mate?
Raines also left the field in the last quarter of last night’s match with a knee injury, which was later revealed as a lateral meniscus tear.
“At this stage he is expected to miss 3-4 weeks, but if the damage is worse than expected, he could be out for a longer period,” Monaghan said.
SEN reports he has a slight Meniscal Tear. 3-4 but probably more.
If Raines knee is bad, how about Rains for Grimes? Melb website says he will only miss 2 weeks?

I’m pretty stoked… got rid of cousins at 5pm and got in Foley instead. Tossed up whether or not to get Shane Tuck given the hype but stuck with Dalziel.
Only disappointment for me out of that game was Joel Bowden! Went ice-age cold.
Did Raines injury occur as a result of a collision or just from running wear and tear on the knee???
Roger, that move would take balls of steel.
Raines was out last year due to a knee injury, first game back - hurt his knee.
Grimes was out last year due to a back injury and has had back problems which has delayed his AFL return.
Significant upside to Grimes but a hell of a risky move chief.
I’m just pissed off no-one has looked at my link up the page of a vid that shows Hitler going banana’s over his DT picks - it’s pure gold
John, Raines injured his knee going forward in a tackle. It looked pretty tame, but he was brought down onto the knee, screamed a bit and play moved on, then he got up and walked to the trainer to grabbed an arm and walked him off.
Both cuz and raines will be out for the next 4 weeks http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,25250444-19742,00.html?from=public_rss
chad yeh i got bowden. i am still gonna stick with him and hope that wallace has enough sense to throw him down back again as he is the only tigers defender besides newman that has any sense down there. bowden needs to be in the backline against the cats dogs coming up
don’t worry muppet i had a look and that is some seriously funny shiza. check it out y’all
@ Muppet - that might be because we all watched it 2 weeks ago when it came out. Cheers anyway mate.
Breaking News:
From SEN- Liam Anthony wont play this week and could be out for 4 weeks cos of a stress fracture!
it just keeps getting worse!
yes. he is the antichrist.
mOnty if you can think straight, maybe you’d like to compare hawks murphy v gilham? i, like hitler, need to replace raines.
@ Hibbo
FUCK ME DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Donald McDoanld confirmed at least 6 weeks for Anthony with more than one stress fracture in the foot.
Laidley has gone too far this time, I can’t believe he would break his own players foot JUST to screw us around.
fryzie! hahahahahahahahaha
F*** YOU DEAN LAIDLEY!
Oh no not Liam and to think it was him or Beams
Aaaaaggggghhhhhhhh
The problems are starting to mount for my list like coke at a mormon funeral

just for the recoIrd, dean laiMdley makes lAfe very hard foFr all of uAs dream teaGmers
sorry I’ll turn my glasses back the right way
Raines did his right knee last year R2 and they called it 3 weeks back then and we all know what happened to him 08 -
Raines season over 09???????????????
At least I’ve got rance if it’s not LTI
i cant wait for judd to smash it and prove u wrong monty, he is a superstar that will average high 90s this year
That’s my point, ryan. If he only averages high 90s then he’s a failure in fantasy terms, because for the price you’re paying he has to average at least 100 and push into the top six fantasy mids. Not going to happen in DT. In SC he’s a chance.
Imagine if Cousins had been discounted as expected. The agony for many DTers would have multipled exponentially!!!
With the state of players and injuries in the first 24 hours, I reckon Hentschel is going to do both his ACLs going through the banner.
If Hentschel goes down im gonna go and climb Ayres rock as high as i can. And im jumping…
LOL at Muppet Executioner.
