Forget the backs, it’s forwardystopia

by m0nty | May 29th, 2008 | Comments : [35] | Categories: Selection.

Big selection news in what had been a relatively quiet position for fantasy coaches this year, the forwards. No Paul Chapman for the second week running, and Geelong have also dropped Ryan Gamble. This week was the week to get rid of Gamble anyway, but those who picked up Chappy last week get double the pain. Word is that the bald one’s omission is precautionary, which makes it possibly even more frustrating!

Meanwhile, Melbourne has seen fit to omit much-hyped rookie Shane Valenti… I guess that answers the question of which rookie they’ll demote once Jack Grimes returns in round 13, huh? Austin Wonaeamirri owners rejoice. This puts into disarray many coaches’ downgrade plans, leaving Jarryd Morton and Ryan Davis as the only forward rookies who played last week. EDIT: And now we’ve seen the full teams, Davis has been dropped and Morton is the only one left standing! It’s a worry.

There will be quite a few coaches who get the triple whammy with these three players all in their forwards this week. To those unlucky few I say…. PANIC!!!!

yep, got the trifecta, though valenti on the pine. damn you Mark Thompson, you’re the new Dean Laidley!

Makes me feel less silly of downgrading to Daniher a few weeks ago (when he was selected), if fact I am feeling like a genius (not).

Looks like that makes the choice between trading Symes and Gamble a lot easier. Gamble out, BJ in me thinks!

Now just decide, Houli or Cale Morton. Sort of leaning to Morton at the moment!

Ablett, Brown, M.Murphy (who’s good against cats), Pav, or even Johnno - who should i make captain, anyone have any ideas?

Brady Says: 8:39 pm, May 29th, 2008

Does anyone thing i should pick up Beau Wilkes from WC??? he has played one game and is cheap, what do people think about this guy??

Brady Says: 8:40 pm, May 29th, 2008

He also scored 106 in his first game.

Phenom Says: 8:42 pm, May 29th, 2008

Damn, no Gamble or Chappy. I might hold onto Gamble and trade him next week, allowing Tippet to cover.

I was just wondering if anybody thinks Houli can hit his BE of 72 against Adelaide, or if I should trade him to Cotchin now.

Brady Says: 9:04 pm, May 29th, 2008

This is what i was thinking this week for trade…is this ok?
O Brien out from collingwood, in Wilkes from WC.
with the money from that trade, out Gamble, In R Murphey from WB.
What do you guys thing about that. Good trades or not?

Luke Says: 9:09 pm, May 29th, 2008

Do you guys think Chappy might be out for a few more weeks? Has anyone heard anything?

nooka Says: 9:42 pm, May 29th, 2008

Out of these forwards who do u think i should get.

Medhurst, O’Keefe, John Brown or Nick Riewoldt (or any other fwd under 347,200)

LUKE monty said chappy’s omission is just precautionary so definitley hang onto him, hes a bloody gun

Chippy Says: 12:53 am, May 30th, 2008

Raines is fit, but still not playing. As he was set to play Centre early season, and now Bowden has been re-purposed and Cotchin is in, will he play again…anywhere. Or is Cotchin a fad?

Dreamer Says: 1:08 am, May 30th, 2008

nooka

get John Brown, ure laughing if u havent got him already and are ready to trade in this week…

Resch Says: 5:59 am, May 30th, 2008

Cotchin is no fad. He will play the rest of the season (unless he gets injured).

CC Says: 6:07 am, May 30th, 2008

Got Gamble and Tippet sitting on my bench. Both have definately peaked. I want to downgrade both of them but right now there’s no talent coming through. Dose anyone know of any forward rookies due to debut in the not so distant future who would be decent pick ups? Or should I settle for someone averaging 50?

Maq Says: 7:25 am, May 30th, 2008

I have Chapman & Dew missing from the forward line and Valenti on the bench. OMG!!

simon Says: 7:52 am, May 30th, 2008

I’m not so sure about Cotchin. Everyone seems so certain he’ll play the rest of the year, but I think Wallace could rest him since he didn’t do a full pre-season. The lack of fitness (comparatively to AFL players of course!) could mean he could get injured. I’m not on him, but I hope for his sake and everyone else, he kills it.

RIckJames Says: 9:43 am, May 30th, 2008

hi

could someone please tell me how do i delete my external teams that i have loaded.

thanks in advance

oddsok Says: 1:53 pm, May 30th, 2008

looking for a replacement for Tom Hawkins was thinking aaron davey but he’s injured this week. i have 303k to play with. any input would be appreciated thanks.

Maja Says: 3:11 pm, May 30th, 2008

Chapman will most likely return in round 11

Brady Says: 3:15 pm, May 30th, 2008

Does anyone think Beau Wilkes will keep his place in WC team????
If so, i can trade N Brown from Collingwood for him and then trade out Gamble for Akamanis or trade o brien who is a bit better than brown for Wilkes to then trade for R Murhpey from WB for Gamble.
What is my best option?

mitch Says: 3:57 pm, May 30th, 2008

I want to get rid of either Gamble or Tippet this week.

My best option is to probably go with Gamble and buy in Riewoldt

Is this a good week to buy Riewoldt is supercoach?????

pain Says: 4:59 pm, May 30th, 2008

where’s xztatik these days?
people need advice and monty has stopped giving it

Gor Says: 4:55 pm, June 2nd, 2008

hell i’ll try dishing out some advice!!

oddsok: don’t go for Davey, injury prone and you shouldn’t really try n get guys that play for Melbourne anyway. But Hawkins definitely has to go. There are a few forwards you could go for, go for one that is less popular among other teams.

Brady: only trade out N.Brown for $$ if he’s on your bench (which is where he should be on anyone who’s got him’s team). If trading O’Brien means Brown might get a spot on the field, don’t do it! Wait for a premium forward’s value to come down so that you can get a player around Aker’s price if you want someone better than Aker (e.g Burton who got 19 in rd 9)

And Mitch: yes, Riewoldt’s value is only gonna go up from now. He’s been in bad form for too long i think

Jmoney23 Says: 5:32 pm, June 2nd, 2008

I need help on dream team. I got Jason Gram and i need to get cornes back. I want gram out and cornes in but i cant make that trade. Who are the cheapies who i can get???????

Brady Says: 9:02 pm, June 2nd, 2008

Ouch!
Burton gone for 2. Murphey gone for 1.

Lucky i dont have them.

XztatiK Says: 9:54 pm, June 2nd, 2008

unlucky I do. Any news on how bad Josh Drummond’s hammy is?

Gor Says: 11:00 am, June 3rd, 2008

josh drummond is way too injury prone i’d get rid of him asap. murphy’s suspension is rubbish (i have him), but hopefully chappy comes back this week anyway

will valenti get upgraded from rookie list now that robbo is dead? (figuratively speaking)

cutter411 Says: 4:22 pm, June 3rd, 2008

with russell robertson out for the season and bound for the long term injury list… does that mean shane valenti will have a place on the senior list now??

XztatiK Says: 7:45 pm, June 3rd, 2008

yep

XztatiK Says: 7:47 pm, June 3rd, 2008

And Gor I know he’s injury prone but that’s what we have trades for. At his best he’s a 90/game player, im just filthy that he’s injured again only a week after I got him lol.

pain Says: 10:27 pm, June 3rd, 2008

and the award for most freqeunt poster goes to XztatiK.
mate, josh drummond is more inconsistant than jason gram, and the price of chocolate coated oranges

Jmoney23 Says: 3:59 pm, June 4th, 2008

Xztatik is filthy lol. Roberts man ur gay

XztatiK Says: 9:26 pm, June 4th, 2008
