Valenti elevates our hearts

by m0nty | May 15th, 2008 | Comments : [59] | Categories: Selection.

Two rookie elevations were announced today: Ryan Davis, who will apparently suit up for the Eagles this weekend in Carrara, and Shane Valenti, the great white hope of the Demons… and of fantasy coaches everywhere. With Cyril Rioli, Josh Hill, Bernie Vince and other forward rookies just about at the top of their rollercoaster ride, Valenti is the perfect downgrade target for those who want to harvest some cold hard cash. Get on board while you can!

Seabohm Says: 4:43 pm, May 15th, 2008

I traded him in a couple weeks back when Hill peaked. Was startting to worry he wouldnt come in at all.

Chad Says: 4:58 pm, May 15th, 2008

same seabohm, i did when hill peaked. need him to get a game though.

sam Says: 6:01 pm, May 15th, 2008

any reason why s selwood isnt getting a game? not ready or not good enough?

any thoughts
and it looks like king is fine to play.

Jordox Says: 7:07 pm, May 15th, 2008

scott selwoods still doing year 12 sam, well that’s what i heard. that’d probably be the reason he’s not a regular, I’ll be getting on him next year though.

browns13 Says: 7:36 pm, May 15th, 2008

symes, waters, cornes and proud out of my backline. You have got to be kidding me.

XztatiK Says: 8:17 pm, May 15th, 2008

Some good value coming off the Demons rookie list this year.

Chris Says: 9:11 pm, May 15th, 2008

Is Wonaemirri the real deal or is he gonna struggle to find scores when Melbourne struggles to find possession? I wanna pick up a backman but not convinced he’s the best option…

johnny Says: 9:33 pm, May 15th, 2008

Hey monty, i’m looking for a cheap centre…. n was wondering who u would say is a better option out of steven browne (carl) … n s.wellington (coll) … anyone else with advise would b handy… cheers

Phillip Molly Malone Says: 11:54 pm, May 15th, 2008

Johnny, Browne, no contest!
Molly

Jordox Says: 12:04 am, May 16th, 2008

couldnt agree more with molly. i wish i had 3 trades this week cos i’d be getting him.

Chris, Wona is a star but i think you may have missed the boat as far as getting him for value. What’s his price up to now?

jdog Says: 12:38 am, May 16th, 2008

wona is too expensive now. your better off getting myers (if u dont already have him)
cant keep a steady back line this year. iv had at least 1 zero per weak.

Chris Says: 1:03 am, May 16th, 2008

Thanks for the advice guys, yeah he’s round 180k I think, prior to round 7 was when I should’ve got him. Myers is a good option…

Mick Says: 2:34 pm, May 16th, 2008

i have tate pears, scott selwood and albert proud and one has to go this week and another will go in a few weeks, who should i trade first and who should i hold onto?

The Chief Says: 4:09 pm, May 16th, 2008

I Still think Shain Altschwager is worth a Look, I’d say he’s almost better than Tommy Williams from the Bulldgos…

johnny Says: 4:24 pm, May 16th, 2008

thankz 4 the advice molly and jordox

XztatiK Says: 5:08 pm, May 16th, 2008

Proud will play most out of those three I’d say Mick.

pain Says: 5:47 pm, May 16th, 2008

roberts kisses boys

Shigella Says: 5:57 pm, May 16th, 2008

Evening All,
SC: P Burgoyne ($488 000) Milburn (470 000) or L Gilbee ($453000)?
for: Xav Ellis or M Mattner

XztatiK Says: 6:10 pm, May 16th, 2008

Watson, Reilly OUT

Valenti(aka $$$), Malceski to play

steve Says: 6:26 pm, May 18th, 2008

shigella
milburn would be the best choice reason being 1. his teams win ratio 2. his efficiancy rates higher than the other two which in turn means fewer possessions can still give him more ranking points

Henry Says: 2:35 am, May 20th, 2008

Wanting to trade either kozzi or gram out this week (round 9), If trading gram i would spend about 350 000 and i was thinking birchall would be a good get?
And if trading kozzi i would get chapman? or someone of lower value?
What are your thoughts? please help out..

sam Says: 12:17 pm, May 20th, 2008

thoughts on henry playfair?

hes got a very nice breakeven and im looking to get him for cyril rioli to make me some cash and to have plenty of money in the bank.

the only problem is whether henry will keep his spot in the side??

dymes Says: 3:42 pm, May 20th, 2008

G’day

Anyone heard if chadwick is gonna play this week or not? And if he is should i get rid of bolton or mundy for him? Got a feeling bolton’s run of kick 2 kick games may be over…

batesy Says: 3:55 pm, May 20th, 2008

does anyone know what the situation is with valenti now that neitz has retired? i thought you could only promote a rookie for someone on the LTI, not when someone retires. would love to be corrected though because i really want to pick him up

batesy Says: 4:32 pm, May 20th, 2008

nevermind, just read it on bigfooty. apparently dees can keep a rookie elevated because neitz’s retirement was for medical reasons

Brett Says: 5:14 pm, May 20th, 2008

I picked up Playfair last week, what will his breakeven be this week ? If he scores his avg of 75, what the value go to ?

Brett Says: 5:17 pm, May 20th, 2008

Anyone have any news on travis Tuck ? With Mcglynn & Crawford out this week, maybe a chance for a midfielder to slot back in. Breakeven only 47….should be easy to crack.

sam Says: 6:30 pm, May 20th, 2008

brett
i know that in sc playfairs breakeven is well into the negatives…very nice indeed

Jordox Says: 7:28 pm, May 20th, 2008

brett, im hanging on travis tuck getting a game. as far as i know, his knee is fine.
so with crawford, mcglynn and guerra out, SURELY he’ll be in. fingers crossed anyway

Jordox Says: 7:37 pm, May 20th, 2008

sorry to double post, but i just read on afl.com.au that tuck’s knee will be tested. so i dunno, he should be right though

Doogie Says: 9:44 pm, May 20th, 2008

Evening all.

What’s everyone’s view on Mackie. Two great games in a row. $365K at the mo. Not a bad choice as a replacement back?

XztatiK Says: 10:02 pm, May 20th, 2008

Dymes, Chadley has got a fitness test but should be ok. I wouldnt get him yet though, he scored just 65 in hislast round and he still wont be 100%. I’m getting him back too but hopefully at about 400 not 431.

XztatiK Says: 10:09 pm, May 20th, 2008

Monty- according to Sam Fisher’s player page and the ‘new prices’ page his breakeven is 106. Surely that cant be right after scoring 76 and 113.

Rob Says: 11:55 pm, May 20th, 2008

chad scored 65 because he spent the whole game getting his finger broken

Henry Says: 5:24 am, May 21st, 2008

Hey guys.
Just wondering whether its worth trading symes out?
Apparently he’s going to be out for 2-3 week?
I will need either proud or pfeiffer to play to save a 0…
what are your thoughts?
Cheers

Sean22 Says: 1:23 pm, May 21st, 2008

I saw that pfeiffer was one of, if not the best player in the weekends ballarate against the bullants game, I also saw that Jake Edwards kicked 4 goals, with carltons injury worries could these blokes get a game because im down to 3 backman still walking
Cheers

XztatiK Says: 2:01 pm, May 21st, 2008

Rob I know that 65 was due to injury but that doesnt mean his price wont go down.

Dylan Says: 12:40 pm, May 22nd, 2008

yeah i have the same question as sam weather henry playfair will keep his spot in the side and worth trading in.

sam Says: 2:24 pm, May 22nd, 2008

i guess we will have to wait for the teams dylan but when barry hall comes back playfair seems like the guy they would drop

Brett Says: 3:17 pm, May 22nd, 2008

Playfair definitely needs to kick a couple each week and provide a marking option. With Mick O playing well I doubt they would drop any of the smaller guys who are in some ok form at the moment.

Jordox Says: 7:08 pm, May 22nd, 2008

how can travis tuck still not be in?!?
very dissapointing news

mitch Says: 7:59 pm, May 22nd, 2008

i have a dilema

Who do i play as my last forward?

Hill, Tippet or Gamble?

brett Says: 9:19 pm, May 22nd, 2008

i had a dilema.

but i fixed it wen i moved onto dreamteamtalk seeing as they actually post stuff on their blog lol

XztatiK Says: 10:10 pm, May 22nd, 2008

Gamble by a mile Mitch.

Jordox Says: 10:30 pm, May 22nd, 2008

just so everyone knows, the breakevens have not been updated and would be incorrect.

whats going on monty???

XztatiK Says: 12:10 am, May 23rd, 2008

There’s a great Java program with all the breakevens called FF Genie:

http://www.freewebs.com/ffgenie/

Gor Says: 8:31 am, May 23rd, 2008

hey guys my forwardline as of this round is:
Franklin, R.Murphy, Chapman, Giansiracusa, Porplyzia, S.Johnson, & Riewoldt/Rioli.

I say Riewoldt/Rioli because i’m tossing up over which guy to put in this week? I have a feeling Rioli will go nuts against the Dees and Riewoldt won’t go as well coming back from his knee injury. All my opponents have Rioli (none Riewoldt) so it will only be nullifying his performance, but can i risk him outscoring Riewoldt? Even if Riewoldt does end up playing well on my bench it would be good for his form next round.

What do you guys think? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Gor Says: 10:33 am, May 23rd, 2008

should i put in rioli or riewoldt this week?

rioli could explode against melbourne, all my opponents have him. riewoldt is coming back from his injury. even if he scores well on the bench it’ll put me at ease when i throw him into the side next week

theros Says: 12:54 pm, May 23rd, 2008

hey mitch - id go tippett as he is against the west coast and pumped after his selection as NAB rising star for round 8. Id say he will get DT 100, gamble will get about 70 max.

Tom Says: 5:02 pm, May 23rd, 2008

ROBERTS
stop giving people advice, i beat you

XztatiK Says: 11:38 am, May 26th, 2008

yer good call theros!

Stuey Says: 11:58 pm, May 26th, 2008

whats the go with valenti now that wonna has booked a permanent gig thanks to neitz? how many more weeks has he got before he’s back to the rookie list?

XztatiK Says: 11:44 am, May 27th, 2008

They can both play now that Neitz has retired (due to injury reasons).

Tom Says: 3:31 pm, May 27th, 2008

roberts stop ignoring me,
ur not monty so stop trying to be him

Jono Says: 12:04 am, May 28th, 2008

I went to school with Valenti, picked him up from rnd 1, got rid of him Rnd 5….. i rkeon hiz gonna be that good that i picked him up again rnd 10….. waste of a trade? i rekon come rnd 13-20 the kids gna rip it… always has !

j

Jono Says: 12:06 am, May 28th, 2008

traded him for Lovett off the bench…. gave me a possible star on the bench money for ebert to replace a non-gamer, Simpson (geelong) with Brett ebert….

what do you think of that move?

j

XztatiK Says: 9:41 am, May 28th, 2008

Ebert’s injured. lol.

Pottsy Says: 1:19 pm, May 28th, 2008

Cotchin or Valenti??? Cotchin was number 2 pick, but Valenti is cheaper by 40k! (both avg about the same after 2 games)

Tom Says: 8:10 pm, May 28th, 2008

depends if you need that extra 40k or not Pottsy. I’d say Valenti is better value although Cotchin will improve on his first two weeks.
