Casha’s 2008 Super Coach squad

Since I’ve already gone through AFL Dream Team 2007 winner Steve Morfesse’s team for 2008, after a suggestion from coggers I guess it makes sense to look at the 2008 Super Coach side of 2007 SC winner Casha. Here’s his starting Casha’s Killers EDT squad:

Backs: Heath Shaw, Andrew McLeod, Lindsay Gilbee, Jake King, Martin Mattner, Brad Symes, Mark Nicoski, Nathan J. Brown, Scott D. Thompson.
Centres: Nick Dal Santo, Lenny Hayes, Nathan Jones, Andrew Swallow, Chance Bateman, Nick Stevens, Bachar Houli, Craig Bird.
Rucks: Justin Koschitzke, Troy Simmonds, Matthew Kreuzer, Shaun Hampson.
Forwards: Matthew Pavlich, Nathan G. Brown, Brett Deledio, Alan Didak, Stuart Dew, Nathan Thompson, Leroy Jetta, Cyril Rioli, Kurt Tippett.

This is almost the complete opposite of the Peckin Away team strategy which won DT last year. Where Steve starts five rookies, Casha starts none. Casha spends big on only six premium-priced players, where many others would have 10-12. The fact that Houli starts on his bench only underlines how little Casha values rookies in his structure.

This method requires a huge amount of faith in mid-priced players. Some of them look like genius picks based on round 1 performances, such as Dew, Nathan Thompson, King and Bateman. Others are not so hot, like Swallow, Brown and Didak. His round 1 score was just inside the top 30,000 so he has a lot of ground to make up. It will be interesting to see how many premiums he can manage to trade up to by season’s end… his trade targets will have to deliver in spades!

wow that was quick! thnaks mate. I totally didn’t expect this squad from casha. To be honest i don’t think he’ll do particularly well but thats his team and his opinion. Good luck casha!

He won last year, he knows what he’s doing ;)

Dont really like the looks of that side.

Id rather roll the dice on rookies.

But hey, Who am I to comment.

My team is 31st after rnd 1 though

if he went with the same strategy last year he may have just got lucky on the initial players picked. It seems like a team that can do well and prob win a league but not be the Champ and take home the real choclates. I reckon he is also not scared to pick a sore player or two and I dont think that all the injury prone players will survive all year but it they do good luck to him.

Also what is like a good score for the first few rds ie whats a good ave b4 u sell the cash cows and come with a charge would 2150 cut it for say the first 5rds then trade up?

I agree Dyls. Might have got dead lucky (using the term luck loosely) with Bartel and a couple of others who had breakout years. In no position to judge yet…who knows - guys like Jones, Swallow and Deledio might kill it this year

Would anyone agree with me with this theory - it is not so much the strategy you go in with, but the players you take in? I think a number of strategies can win it if the right players are taken.

yeah Daics cos if ur young blokes have break out years and the old was hold strong then u should be in good stead

The Public Dream Team League that i’m in has “Casha’s Killas EDT” as one of the teams i’m up against!

Hey Jonesy, by 4th, do you mean 4th overall coz thats a pretty good effort!! I’m currently 62nd but I was coming 1st at one stage last year before Casha took over the show and he’s team looked pretty much unbeatable by about round 16. It looks like he’s going for the same method as last year but it probably would have been smart putting Cox in and he’s got lots of middle priced players but no porplyzia or hall?? Casha, don’t like your chances this year, with your method, you will probably finish top 100 by the end but I can’t see you getting back to back.

james Says: 10:27 am, April 3rd, 2008

hey mi team is comin 3rd overall i dont think casha has a chance this year

Casha Says: 12:15 pm, April 3rd, 2008

Hi Gav

yea i actually agree with you on all comments
appart from Hall..(you all will see)

not starting Cox has hurt me the most but i will fixx that problem before the next round

Back to Back!! not impossible but not likely from my not so good start.

Top 100 is My Goal

Just a simple question. How do you calculate break evens for players in supercoach?
