Talking Points: round 17

by dreamteamhero.com.au | July 30th, 2007 | Comments : [231] | Categories: Talking Points.

By The Goat and The White Maggot

Player of the Week: Andrew Carrazzo (134)

Carrazzo didn’t get the highest score for the week - that honour went to Chad Cornes (144). Sam Fisher was next highest (142) but both of those guys played against weak opponents - Melbourne and Carlton respectively. Carrazzo went head to head with one of the form midfields in the competition (St Kilda) and managed 134. His 38 touches were a career high and the highest possession number for a Carlton player since 2000. 25 of these coming in the first half, one off the all time record of possessions for a half which is 26.

Honourable Mentions: The Chad (144), Sam Fisher(140), Jared Brennan (129), Rhan Hooper (122)

Biggest Disappointment: Josh Drummond (26)

Only played 47 per cent game time due to injury, but 26 points is 26 points. He has been a star this season but at that price you need better.

Other Points of Interest:

- Number one football caller Brian Taylor wasn’t slow in naming his man for the week as Nick Gill (Adelaide). 83 is a fair return for a first gamer, especially as a key forward. Has a great leap and a fair amount of guts - if only he could kick straight! Two misses from straight in front at crucial times in a game can hurt your DT scores. The 24 year old has been in the system for a while (once a Kangas rookie) so needs to show the signs quickly.

- The Chad found plenty of the ball playing forward and nailed 6 goals 2. It was a fair return from the big fella, but if he is going to play forward every week there is the potential for some low scores. Still with Warren Tredrea due back anytime he should move back in to the midfield and continue to find the footy. He is going to need to if he wants to start winning the sibling competition with brother Kane, (the highest possession winner gets lunch bought for them).

- The West Coast midfield is again a scary prospect with the return of Benny Cousins, giving it (dare I say it) a shot in the arm. Following up lasts weeks 140 with a solid 93 he certainly is an attractive option to strengthen your finals bound midfield. Will drop dramatically this week in price but nevertheless a very tantalising upgrade option since not many players will have him.

- The Osteitis Pubis curse seems to have hit everybody’s favorite Praying Mantis, Aaron Sandilands. With rumours coming out of the West that Sandi was struggling with the dreaded OP, the stats tell of a disappointing performance. Frankly 32 points from a starting gun ruckman leaves him now valued at a low $251,600. I’m off the Giant!

- Brisbane’s stunning performance against Collingwood brought a smile to many eyes, and the show that Jared Brennan (129) put on was simply stunning. Dreamtime was back at the G with the aforementioned Brennan and Rhan Hooper enjoying the limelight immensely. Chuck in Jonathan Brown (111) and Jed Adcock (121) to the equation and you have some pretty impressive scores.

- What is it with the Kangaroos? If it’s not Drew Petrie kicking a bag full of goals it’s Corey Jones (129). The run has got to stop at some point though surely.

- Steve Johnson (134) and Joel Corey (130) continued the rout that has been the Geelong midfield this year.

- Matthew Boyd stepped up in the absence of the injured Scott West to score a total of 130 while Wayde Skipper (remember him?) scored 108 for his first game of the year.

- The Rising Star Award goes to… Joel Selwood. With Scott Pendlebury (just three points) going down with what looks like a season ending injury, there is only one man for the prize. (Ed: Unless he gets suspended.)

- The New Coach Factor: Out goes Pagan and miraculously ‘The Fevolution’ is able to punch out a ‘measly’ 92. Not bad for a bloke with a 30 cm calf tear during the week. Youngster Ryan Jackson (107) pulled out a ton in first game under Brett Ratten, while Eddie Betts’ extended run in the midfield netted a return of 86 this week, smashing his average of 53. Meanwhile, not much has changed at either Melbourne or Freo with the change of coach but Brent Moloney (66) has seen a return to the squad and Nathan Jones (82) has found a fair bit more game time on the ball.

wat ruckman would u get for sandilands i have the money to buy the following mcintosh, charman, moony, or josh fraser or any below that

mammes Says: 9:54 pm, July 30th, 2007

look at lade, was a gun last year, port finding form you only need him to perform for 5 weeks, if you have the money i reckon mcintosh has been good all year and fraser will get better.

With Dosh - Mcintosh
Without - Lade or Simmonds (who can only improve)

Ed Says: 10:18 pm, July 30th, 2007

Is Cousin’s current BE of 219 right? Over 2 games he’s got an average of 116. Hmmm, and on his player profile his BE is only 80 which seems more correct. So he might be at his lowest price currently.

Apparently Pendlebury might only miss 2 games as well, that’s going to be interesting to see if he recovers quickly or not.

Jordox Says: 10:21 pm, July 30th, 2007

be weary of lade tho. ive had him for a month or so and this was the first week he did anything! but if he does start to keep the weekends form he is awesome value for money

Jordox Says: 10:41 pm, July 30th, 2007

that is a VERY interesting point your raise Ed. And i would be very keen to know the answer myself. Cousins is certainly someone i want for the finals but that was assuming he was gonna come down 40k!

David Booth Says: 10:53 pm, July 30th, 2007

Yeh Biglands would be useful, how bout wade skipper pretty cheap and 108 on his 2007 debut.

rossi Says: 12:35 am, July 31st, 2007

Cousins shouldn’t drop this week??? His BE is only 80 and FFGenie predicts a rise of $11700

Tom Says: 7:05 am, July 31st, 2007

Okay fellas, let me explain. I thought it odd that Cuzz’s break-even was 200 as well, but I got it from FF’s ‘New Prices’ page.

Thus, it may be wrong - I would go with whatever Grimlock (FF Genie) says.

Brayden Says: 8:07 am, July 31st, 2007

What is wrong with West, any news?

kyledurst Says: 12:16 pm, July 31st, 2007

any chances of gilbee coming back this week? as the song goes… i am the king of wishful thinking

Matt Says: 1:00 pm, July 31st, 2007

Urgent captain advice needed for this week’s game. Must win to be any chance of finals, and up against a tough team.

Options:
C Cornes
J Bowden
J Brown
Bartel
Kerr

tom Says: 1:18 pm, July 31st, 2007

I would go with Bartel (vs Richmond) or take a punt on Brown (vs Kangaroos at Gabba). Bartel is the more reliable option, I reckon.

The Chad could also be good but they’re playing Adelaide so it’s a bit less certain.

Killer K Says: 1:35 pm, July 31st, 2007

if tredrea doesnt come up then chad may play forward and maybe stand rutten if he comes up. although he does save his best for showdowns

lots of ifs and buts there so i would probably run with bartel.

joey Says: 2:20 pm, July 31st, 2007

yeah bartel for sure man against the tiges he’l have a blinder

cll Says: 2:20 pm, July 31st, 2007

johnson, lockyer, cox or kerr for captain this week? cox v warnock seems enticing, but could also see lockyer bouncing back hard against carlton..thoughts?

joey Says: 2:44 pm, July 31st, 2007

yeah id proly go with cox or kerr over at subi and against warnock you could be right, altho im hoping cox does average so goes down so i can pick him up but you could also be right with lockyer to unless they decide to chuck murphy on him like they did last week with montagna and gave him a score of 47

joey Says: 3:08 pm, July 31st, 2007

does anyone know how i can check the breakevens for next week?

Bigfan Says: 3:41 pm, July 31st, 2007

my calculations give Cousins a breakeven of 80, if he continues to score at his average of the last 2 rounds (116), he will go up in price about $13.5k

James Says: 3:43 pm, July 31st, 2007

Click the “new prices” link on the side of the fanfooty home page for the team you’re interested in.

Maxie Says: 4:59 pm, July 31st, 2007

hm no mention of the port boys having big games (besides the chad) like ebert lade and brogan

ian Says: 5:09 pm, July 31st, 2007

with one trade left, n in finals, who would u guys consider mroe important to upgrade?
hunter in the backline, or jake king in the midfield?

Ed Says: 5:47 pm, July 31st, 2007

I think you should hold onto it and trade whoever is injured/missing in your deciding game! Going into the finals with 0 trades is a pretty bad move.

hingding Says: 6:27 pm, July 31st, 2007

pez…

you might just want to check your information because Keneally isn’t on their list…

but nice thinking anyway haha

Bally Says: 6:55 pm, July 31st, 2007

How do you work out the break evens?
cheers

Jordox Says: 6:59 pm, July 31st, 2007

so what was decided? cousins breakeven is 80? if so, why the hell does fanfooty still have it as 200 sumthing?

Jordox Says: 7:01 pm, July 31st, 2007

well its changed now so 80 it is

A-Rod Says: 7:05 pm, July 31st, 2007

Thoughts on what to do with pendlebury. I have 3 trades and 35K in the bank but no reserve centres (muston and browne)and playing the top ranked guy in my league with a top 4 spot secure. Should i trade him or sacrifice this week and maybe the first round of finals in the hope that pendles will pull thru for week 2 of the finals. Cheers in advance.

damo Says: 7:26 pm, July 31st, 2007

ive got 3 trades left and im sitting 2nd atm.. i will definately make top 4.. but the giant is out for the season. do u think i should trade him for lade or maybe get warnock and pick up 100K any thoughts?

Scotty Says: 7:45 pm, July 31st, 2007

Yeah finaly got brad johnson, trade nathan ablett for him yeah pump

stants Says: 8:16 pm, July 31st, 2007

A-rod for pendles get either black, goodes, grant and also think or shaun burgoyne adam/troy selwood and daniel harris from the roos plus all of most of the ppl i have menioned r cheaper than pendles oh ye n i forgot think of hasleby

Scotty Says: 8:19 pm, July 31st, 2007

is there any website that tells you then ins and out and all that

Hirdy Says: 8:24 pm, July 31st, 2007

Scotty wait till teams are posted mate. Thursday night you will find out.

Ed Says: 8:30 pm, July 31st, 2007

I’m thinking of trading Pendlebury too but I think I’ll wait another week and see how he’s looking. Another few options are Ryan Lonie, Paul Licuria and at a bit higher, Brent Stanton. If Daniel Wells gets himself up he might be worth looking at too.

Steve Says: 8:41 pm, July 31st, 2007

What’s the story with the AFL lawyers stopping live Super Coach updates!

This will ruin my weekend footy watching (and the other 150,000 entries).

Bastards!!

George Says: 9:03 pm, July 31st, 2007

helllo boys,
i have a problem, i got 2 trades left and 23k left in the bank, my top 4 spot is kind of secure.
I need to trade sandilands and gilbee.
Any suggestions??
cheers George

Scotty Says: 9:25 pm, July 31st, 2007

i cant wait for this week i got 8 cats and the last time the cats played the tigers a 157 point victory with a team full of big scores

Jordox Says: 10:18 pm, July 31st, 2007

holy crap! 8? thats intense. i spose if u were gonna have 8 from one team, geelong would be a good idea

edo Says: 11:47 pm, July 31st, 2007

who should i get for sandilands

jolly? everett? cant afford anyone over 270 k
even lade maybe

rossi Says: 11:51 pm, July 31st, 2007

Is it time to trade Joel Selwood this week? He has a break even of 105 and I can get the cash to swap him for Cousins with 6 trades left. What does everyone think?

Spike Says: 11:55 pm, July 31st, 2007

What’s this I’ve been hearing about the AFL wanting to shut down Fan Footy’s Live Dream Team Scoring??
Don’t let ‘em!!

Booth Says: 12:27 am, August 1st, 2007

Whyz everyone on the cousinz banwagon?

bartel, scottland, goodwin, carazzo, swann …. all cheaper and all better… plenty just as good as cousins and are $50,000 plus cheaper…

Hey edo, i like hille if u have $270,000… hes fairly consistant with 70 - 90’s …

but outta your 3… i’d prob go lade… hes capable of the big scores…. but b4 this week he hadn’t cracked higher than 63 for 5 weeks…. so can’t really say hes in form mate

go with hille

Tom Says: 7:00 am, August 1st, 2007

Anyone here game to predict J. Brennan will score over 50 this week?

White Maggot Says: 8:59 am, August 1st, 2007

Tom,
Brennan has plagued me all year and when I don’t play him he has a big score. I will bench him this week - guaranteed to get another 100 then for sure.
I hope my jinx helps you all.

Snoop Says: 9:42 am, August 1st, 2007

I really dislike Brennan he freaked it at the start of the year then it all went downhill to last week i only sold him and cut my losses a few weeks ago with him and it really annoys me now that he finally does something, i am prediciting a few poor games now.

Ed Says: 10:35 am, August 1st, 2007

Rossi - I would be looking at trading Selwood considering he’s over $350k now and you have 6 trades left. Cousins looks fit and he’s getting enough of the ball. Depending on this weeks score he might dip once he gets past his 140 score, but he looks like scoring more consistantly than Selwood. Even if Selwood scores big this week he’s not going to move much because of his high BE.

Blozza Says: 10:49 am, August 1st, 2007

I think you’re all being a bit hard on Brennan. You’ve gotta look at the form his in now which is an average of 93 over the last 5 weeks. Bartel’s average over the last 5 weeks is 83 so if you’ve got Brennan, keep him in your side… you could do a lot worse.

joey Says: 11:05 am, August 1st, 2007

yeah id trade selwood now, i traded him when he was at 240ish thinkin that’d be it but surely he cant go up much more,

and like someone said earlier id go for someone cheaper like scotland or bartel than cousins will save ya heaps and is gonna be just as good scorer

The Assassin Says: 11:14 am, August 1st, 2007

Sean Kenneally IS listed on the Power website but I havent seen him on the DT trade options. I would have assumed he would have been listed in the Forwards from your comments PEZ DERSPENCER

Ed Says: 11:37 am, August 1st, 2007

Blozza - The problem with Brennan is he’s super inconsistant, even 2 weeks ago. At quarter time he was on 0, then half time he was on 10, three quarter time he was on about 30 and then he had a massive last quater which took him up to 85 and made him look reasonable.

Ermi Priddis Says: 12:21 pm, August 1st, 2007

Just a word of advice on Joel Selwood in Round 9 i sold him for $251,800 and he got dropped that week or injured didnt play till Round 12 and i thought i got MAX out of him now he’s hit 351,300 so u never know with him but u have to say now he surely has hit MAX???

smuggles Says: 12:35 pm, August 1st, 2007

assassin/pez derspencer - i have seen sean keneally play and he’s quite the talent. definately a chance in 08. slightly awkward kicking style, gill style. but he’s from elizabeth, considered locally a brauler. got a nose for leather, but i think he’ll struggle with the judiciary system. likes boys i’ve heard!

Jim Says: 12:37 pm, August 1st, 2007

agree with booth about Hille as an option for Sandilands, especially when you consider the bombers play the hawks (lack a top quality ruckman), then Freo minus Sandi, Carlton, and Richmond. Of course, they do play West Coast in round 22…

pig skin Says: 12:47 pm, August 1st, 2007

i have to win this week to make the top 8 but i’m coming 3000th over all… can anyone believe it??? i’m soo good at this game but can’t make the 8… i’m better than every other team in my league… i think its sick!

turst Says: 12:51 pm, August 1st, 2007

does anyone know if trading out works? i haven’t had any trades left for the last 4 weeks but i haven’t had any injuries. is this comon? i must be really lucky because i can’t seem to loose either. do you all luv me?

turst Says: 12:56 pm, August 1st, 2007

oh pez - have you seen my side??? its simply awesome but i cant ake the 8. i think this comp is rigged. why do you like the magics soo much? do you know each other well? i’m all for keeping the easy beats cause i hate missing the 8. luv ya man!

pig skin Says: 12:58 pm, August 1st, 2007

who’s turst? and why is he using my name?

adam Says: 12:59 pm, August 1st, 2007

i like cycling! is there a dream team for cycling?

adam Says: 1:01 pm, August 1st, 2007

i will beat you this week piggy and you will be the laughing stock of the comp. you think your so good… cya piggy!

pig skin Says: 1:43 pm, August 1st, 2007

pez - i am the best dream teamer in the comp and my aust ranking prooves it. you are in bed with each other. adam i believe there is a cycling dream team. on entry you get a free tackle protector! junior for you!

carol Says: 1:46 pm, August 1st, 2007

Pez/Assassin/Smuggles - I have been looking for Sean Keneally on the AFL site, Port Power site and googled his name as well. are you serious about Sean, because I can’t find him anywhere?

Derrick Says: 1:50 pm, August 1st, 2007

PEZ, YOUR WEIRD! MY FAV PLAYER IS DAMIEN PEVERILL. ARE YOU A BOMBERS FAN TOO?

bushwood 06 premier Says: 2:19 pm, August 1st, 2007

do you guys know where my mum put my socks?cant win dream team with no socks on!

joey Says: 2:35 pm, August 1st, 2007

yeah id say chad cornes is better, altho kane is proly more consistant ive got both of them and they do me great,

and what are you ranked pigskin?

terri Says: 2:56 pm, August 1st, 2007

you know where to put it mark!

cherryl Says: 2:57 pm, August 1st, 2007

in you come sean!~

jared Says: 3:00 pm, August 1st, 2007

i like leanne’s torso! i wish gary didn’t change the locks!

carol Says: 3:04 pm, August 1st, 2007

obviously there’s something going on here. i hope some of you get removed from this blog. idiots

joey Says: 3:05 pm, August 1st, 2007

pigskin - im at 1463

whats your teams name i wanna check it out

and i agree with the other boys enough about the dogs, more about the footy which is why i found this thing

Mammes Says: 3:23 pm, August 1st, 2007

Cam Bruce out for two weeks(min), re-injured his hamstring.

joey Says: 3:30 pm, August 1st, 2007

disapointed man, very VERY disapointed,

ill win this week but i need him for the first round of finals in hope to go straight to the prelim

joey Says: 3:39 pm, August 1st, 2007

to be honest pigs ya havnt done a whole heap wrong, and if you were in my league id say you would have made the 8 easy a few lil weak links which might have set ya back in raines and morris, alot of people picked him up at the start of the year thinkin he could do well for his price i thought about it but didnt make the trade and am glad i didnt coz he never really kicked off and morris doesnt usualy score that well expet for last round which was a suprise against the eagles.

decent lookin midfield altho judd had his down patch for a while and priddis is going through that now but should pick up rucks are good, cox is well cox we all know how good he is and hudson was a good pickup to for the price he was at the start so good move there.

and i love your forwrds man the only downside is roo who hasnt played much but im assumin you picked him up after he was cheap and had that great game a few rounds back, unfortunantly he’s dropped off now.

other than that dude a good looking side you got many trades left and are you def to miss the finals?

luch Says: 3:39 pm, August 1st, 2007

hey,

wondering if anybody knows how Dustin fletcher is? will he be right or was it just a small problem before a game? same with riccuito this week….i mean how long does a rolled ankle take to be playable…..

Id trade roo right now but i want to keep my four trades intact for finals….plus who is the best option to upgrade him for (i have 100K allocated for this upgrade)

joey Says: 3:40 pm, August 1st, 2007

no but lingy is a champ not so great DT wise but a great player and am glad to have him playin for my side, can have a decent scoring game tho when he gets a few touches and usualy kicks a goal or 2

joey Says: 3:44 pm, August 1st, 2007

luch

id trade roo F**k knows if he’l even be back with crows looking like they wont make it, i reckon lucas or lloyd could be good bets or if you wanted to save some cash for finals trades maybe lynch? if i had room for those boys id grab one

luch Says: 4:22 pm, August 1st, 2007

cheers joey, i was looking at Okeefe…but yeh lucas looks to be a better bet….

rossi Says: 4:24 pm, August 1st, 2007

How does Joel Selwood for Bartel sound?

joey Says: 4:25 pm, August 1st, 2007

no probs man, and yeahim hopin to get lucas if i have to trade anyone

joey Says: 4:27 pm, August 1st, 2007

yeah bartel will be more consistant do it if you have to make the trade but selwoods still good dude and playin the tiges this week he could have a cracker but then so could bartel,

rossi Says: 4:32 pm, August 1st, 2007

joey i have 6 trades which should be plenty so i thought i should make my team as good as i can before the finals

joey Says: 4:36 pm, August 1st, 2007

yeah that should be a good move then rossi, where are you ranked and whats your team name? ill have a look

Anthony Says: 4:51 pm, August 1st, 2007

To who ever was asking there is a cycling dream team. Well not just cycling it’s a Tour de France one. My bro does it and is in the top 15 in the world but I’ve totally forgotten the website.

Anthony Says: 4:51 pm, August 1st, 2007

Oh yeah, the Tour de France is over. You’ll have to wait till next year.

raul Says: 4:57 pm, August 1st, 2007

boys serious trouble.

have 4 grand in the kity not so much,

i ahve sandi and ryder the weekpoints in my team. do i trade sandi for simmonds and then try and get a ruckman under 200 g for ryder?
or.
do i trade ryder for a rookie(even tho i have angus graham hoo will replace him this week) and use the spare money to get a cox,

must win game.

thoughts?

Killer K Says: 5:12 pm, August 1st, 2007

hey anthony

do they give bonus points for having a drug free team in tour de france dream team?

joey Says: 5:14 pm, August 1st, 2007

if there is a decent rookie ruck out there could be alright doing that coz it’d be good to have cox this week wih no sandi.

how bout skipper? scored pretty well last week and i think hes pretty cheap or would that not be enough to get cox?

maybe skiper and fraser or somthing

Killer K Says: 5:15 pm, August 1st, 2007

raul

trade sandi for simmonds and ryder for warnock who will get games for the rest of the year with sandi out. would expect him to av around 60 being the only ruckman

rossi Says: 5:16 pm, August 1st, 2007

joey i’m ranked 3396 after a very slow start. My team is the West Coke Eagles

The Assassin Says: 5:16 pm, August 1st, 2007

I have Jake King, Marc Murphy, Priddis, Selwood and Travis Boak in my midfield. It looking pretty raw. Which 2 should i trade out to get KANE and Bartell?

rossi Says: 5:16 pm, August 1st, 2007

sorry i meant 3811 overall

rossi Says: 5:20 pm, August 1st, 2007

Skipper is very cheap if he’s going to score 108 every week but it’s hard to know what he’s going to do after just one game. Every other ruck around that price is averaging 50 tho…

joey Says: 5:22 pm, August 1st, 2007

haha west coke eagles, i like it

Richo Says: 5:26 pm, August 1st, 2007

Hey, i must win this week for top spot

Currently 2745 overall (Gallant in Victory)

Wondering should i trade Polak, or Kosi and if so who should i get carrazzo, mcphee i have cornes, lockyer, bowden, shaw and adcock

Any other good backs below 350k

rossi Says: 5:33 pm, August 1st, 2007

Richo, McPhee is good but he’s preetty inconsistent as far as big score go depends if you pick the right week

joey Says: 5:35 pm, August 1st, 2007

jeez you got a decent looking side man, the forward line is pretty much the same as mine.

and a bartel for selwood trade would make it even better, see how gilbee goes to but id swap either he or harris for heath shaw if you got enough trades

joey Says: 5:37 pm, August 1st, 2007

id grab carazzo richo, id love to have him myself, if you can afford him do so

Richo Says: 5:39 pm, August 1st, 2007

k thanx carrazzo it is

rossi Says: 5:40 pm, August 1st, 2007

yeah if gilbe isn’t back soon he’s going. I’m planning to trade Hasleby for Dane Swan next week after his price bottoms out

rossi Says: 5:40 pm, August 1st, 2007

carrazzo is a good idea

joey Says: 5:48 pm, August 1st, 2007

gettin swan to? nice man id also like to have him

who ya gonna get rid of for swan?

and its really pretty hard to choose who to trade for carazzo richo id put it down to if you have more saints in ya side trade kosi or more tiges then trade polak, also deopends if kosi is back this week i think he is isnt he?

but kosi really is picking up so id try to keep him

rossi Says: 6:00 pm, August 1st, 2007

well if i trade tom williams and selwood for bartel i’ll have 95000ish lft for next week. Then i’ll trade hasleby (or judd if he gets injured) for swan or i’ll do gilbee for carrazzo depending on gilbee’s injury

Sydney Suck Says: 6:28 pm, August 1st, 2007

i have 4 trades.. and very little money in the bank.

this week i’m thinking about trading joel selwood for a gun centre. was thinking either bartel, carrazzo or heath scotland.

Richo Says: 6:35 pm, August 1st, 2007

Hi, Im just wondering what you guys think about this.

Joel Corey has become the new James Bartell

Ive look at the past 5 weeks or so and it looks as if this is the case.

Highly interested in responses

Damien Says: 7:55 pm, August 1st, 2007

Richo - a few years ago joel corey was the best dt midfielder. i have wondered if he would regain those statistics. it seems he has. would be a gamble but that’s what makes the good dream teams get the edge on the rest.

damo Says: 7:56 pm, August 1st, 2007

ive got sandi and i need to trade him out.. do u think sandi for warnock or sandi for lade/everitt?? im currently 2nd and cant fall out of the top 4.. 3 trades left

Damien Says: 7:59 pm, August 1st, 2007

sydney - carazzo is a backliner. why get him in the midfield if he’s available in the backline. scotland is down on last years form, could be tanking like carlton, who knows what bartel is doing. my guess bartel isn’t capable of running out a full season with an ave well over 100ppg just like cam bruce last year who couldn’t do it. bodies basically get tired

chilly dipper Says: 8:03 pm, August 1st, 2007

damo - get lade, he is a gun outta form. with port on a high he will lift. too smart, can’t break him any more, kicks goals, heaps of hit outs, especially with the bogan back. lade is yr man. everitt doesn’t know what he’s doin let alone us try and work him out?

Simon Says: 9:02 pm, August 1st, 2007

All this Sandilands talk! You’ve got to trade him for Simmonds if you’ve got no cash. At 217k he is a bargain and the equal of anyone under 270k. He’s been injured and he is definitely regaining fitness

Sydney Suck Says: 9:03 pm, August 1st, 2007

Damien - it’s because of Joel Selwood. He’s 350k.. and even though he’s a gun rookie, he’s still a rookie.

I don’t have any attractive trade options for Carrazzo in my backline.

Bally Says: 9:09 pm, August 1st, 2007

who as captain this week?
Bartel, Gazza Jnr, C Cornes (seeing as though crows give away most 100’s), Bj, or maybe even Pavlich?

Cheers

joey Says: 11:54 am, August 2nd, 2007

bally - id suggest either one of your first 3 guys you said, the cats are playing the tigers at home so no doubt jimmy and gaz will rip it up and so might cornes, anyone of those 3 would be a safe bet

tom Says: 12:11 pm, August 2nd, 2007

Hi gang, just a quick note: I have deleted all comments relating to car stealing in Adelaide, since these comments were defamatory and I’d rather not be sued.

joey Says: 12:14 pm, August 2nd, 2007

good move tom, should be footy talk anyway

m0nty Says: 12:30 pm, August 2nd, 2007

I agree with Tom and Joey. This is a fantasy football blog. If you want to talk about race issues there are plenty of blogs for that.

Michael Long Says: 12:34 pm, August 2nd, 2007

did i miss something?

m0nty Says: 12:36 pm, August 2nd, 2007

You did, Michael. Tom has kindly deleted all of the offending posts. We will continue to do so.

m0nty Says: 12:39 pm, August 2nd, 2007

I’m as happy as the next bloke to talk politics, Belly, just not on this blog.

miguel Says: 1:12 pm, August 2nd, 2007

big week is kerr injured

tom Says: 1:26 pm, August 2nd, 2007

Regardless of who your Dream Team captain is, racism is not cool.
And as far as I know, Kerr is fine. Luke Darcy is rumoured to be retiring though.

joey Says: 1:27 pm, August 2nd, 2007

he better not be i just heard yesterday that bruce was injured and if west isnt back in its gonna annoy me, i wont lose but still f**k

joey Says: 1:28 pm, August 2nd, 2007

haha tom you gotta be shittin me?

chilly dipper Says: 1:37 pm, August 2nd, 2007

damo - simons right. symonds is the only ruck you should get. if he’s fit he’s great. 100pts/wk player. had him last year and would have him in my side againa and again if he’s fit. hopefully cheap next year and richmond can find some decent backup for him so he can go forward comfortably.

joey Says: 1:57 pm, August 2nd, 2007

ive been thinkin about pickin up fraser, love to have cox but if i get him i wont be able to upgrade another average player but i might have a look symonds now, fraser should go down a bit this week tho so will see how much he drops off

Ed Says: 2:06 pm, August 2nd, 2007

Darcy has announced his retirement but he’s playing out the year. Kerr sounds like he’s good to play.

joey Says: 2:10 pm, August 2nd, 2007

yeh i just read that about darcy altho it might have been good coz it would of forced me to trade him.

and who is posting under me? dont be a tosser

smuggo Says: 2:10 pm, August 2nd, 2007

im 1297 in aust is this good?if so tell me why,its my 1st year……….

joey Says: 2:13 pm, August 2nd, 2007

whats your team name? and yeah id say its pretty good, your just ahead of me, but not for to long brother

spudley Says: 2:20 pm, August 2nd, 2007

I would rather back Darren Jolly based on this years form rather than a suspect Simmonds

joey Says: 2:43 pm, August 2nd, 2007

yeah you could be right also man, i think ill just wait after this week for fraser to come down and grab him, hes been pretty good

Sav Says: 2:54 pm, August 2nd, 2007

Joey where did u hear the bruce thing? I have him aswell and he scored ok against a rampaging Port, Suprisingly he scored very well against Sydney last time they played, I think he has 2 play.

Ed Says: 3:01 pm, August 2nd, 2007

Mammes posted the link about Bruce above. It said he’s a chance to return in a fortnight, so he’s out for at least 2 rounds.

luch Says: 3:02 pm, August 2nd, 2007

ive seen posts about dustin fletcher and have posted one myself…….i hope his knee is right…..that could be a pain if he doesnt play…..anybody know his situation?

joey Says: 3:38 pm, August 2nd, 2007

yeah someone posted it earlier sav i guess we’ll see the teams tonight and find out if brucey and fletcher is in not that i have fletch but for you luch

Scotty Says: 3:57 pm, August 2nd, 2007

Bally Says: 4:52 pm, August 2nd, 2007

joey Says: 4:55 pm, August 2nd, 2007

Scotty Says: 5:15 pm, August 2nd, 2007

thanks joey, yeh chappy ment to be back

Scotty Says: 5:22 pm, August 2nd, 2007

does every body kno to get rid of Sandilands

angel cabrera Says: 5:28 pm, August 2nd, 2007

heard about a kerr injury could be bs tho, the problem with simmonds is he is only playing around 55 percent of the game so his numbers are down

Scotty Says: 5:31 pm, August 2nd, 2007

wat is your ranking joey? just want to look at your team

Bally Says: 5:32 pm, August 2nd, 2007

Chapman hasnt been named on the geelong website??

joey Says: 5:38 pm, August 2nd, 2007

ranking is 1463 scotty and team is called Jmasters

Bally Says: 5:44 pm, August 2nd, 2007

What time do the teams usually go up on fanfooty? cheers.

angel cabrera Says: 5:46 pm, August 2nd, 2007

bally you aren’t that racist belly bloke are you

Bally Says: 6:02 pm, August 2nd, 2007

what is the racist belly bloke???
and no i am def not a racist!

tom Says: 6:03 pm, August 2nd, 2007

Just clarifying that the Bally who is still posting here is NOT the Belly who posted racist comments earlier this afternoon.

That fella - who has been banned, blocked and banished - has repeatedly posted under the names of other people on this blog.

Just something to note; if it seems suss, it’s probably him.

Serious Says: 6:08 pm, August 2nd, 2007

need to trade gilbee out. fighhting for top 4 spot against a very strong team (top 800) but have a very good chance. what do people think of carazzo?

Richo Says: 6:30 pm, August 2nd, 2007

Chappy is depriving my team of dream team status

angel cabrera Says: 6:33 pm, August 2nd, 2007

cool bally all clear, carazzo is top notch, lockyer is another worth a look

cll Says: 6:39 pm, August 2nd, 2007

chapman hasnt been named on afl site, heard nothing of kerr injury on news in over here in wa so seems hes fine

angel cabrera Says: 6:42 pm, August 2nd, 2007

Scotty Says: 6:52 pm, August 2nd, 2007

go for carrazzo if you can get it but gilbee is 251k and carrazzo 344k so u must have a bit of money in ur bank

Scotty Says: 6:53 pm, August 2nd, 2007

where did all that come from?

angel cabrera Says: 6:56 pm, August 2nd, 2007

baby jesus

Scotty Says: 7:02 pm, August 2nd, 2007

Mammes where did u get this mate?

angel cabrera Says: 7:17 pm, August 2nd, 2007

afl website has the teams up

Serious Says: 7:33 pm, August 2nd, 2007

yeh got 157k in bank only 3 trades left. wanna trade gilbee to carazzo 344 or milburn 298 then save the last 2 trades for finals and or possibly upgrade hudson to fraser

Hirdy Says: 8:13 pm, August 2nd, 2007

Need some help. Wana pick up Gram who is very cheap. Do i trade Jordan Mcmahon or Grahem Polak… I was thinking Mcmahon as Polak has the ability to score extremely high. Wat do u guys think?

joey Says: 8:26 pm, August 2nd, 2007

i would normaly say trade polak but jody seems to be in a form slump so yeah maybe trade him, plus a dog for a dog is fair

Hirdy Says: 8:32 pm, August 2nd, 2007

joey… Gram plays for St Kilda not for bulldogs…

joey Says: 8:35 pm, August 2nd, 2007

haha yeah sorry my bad, for some reason i was thinkin gilbee,

i had gram earlier in the year i traded him coz he wasnt the consistant, can you afford someone a bit better?

Hirdy Says: 8:46 pm, August 2nd, 2007

the most i can affor is 296k which is only chris newman and down. Think he is my best choice

joey Says: 8:55 pm, August 2nd, 2007

yeah ya could be right hirdy, altho i tell ya who could be a bit of a smokey is gilmore from the dockers, hes got over 100 the last 2 weeks in a row and is only 246k could be interesting to look at if he keeps plain like he is

joey Says: 8:58 pm, August 2nd, 2007

his BE is -3 so hes gonna go up a shitload again this week, i dont know much about him as a player but yeah i might see how he goes this week and think about gettin him next if he carrys the same sort of form

Bally Says: 9:28 pm, August 2nd, 2007

Hirdy, why dont you have a look at beau waters from west coast. he is around $255.
plus he is a gutsy player.
Bally

lenny Says: 9:42 pm, August 2nd, 2007

i’ve had beau since about round 5. not bad but wouldn’t get him again…

osdvnsovn Says: 9:52 pm, August 2nd, 2007

yeah but so do half of the west coast players! lol
yeah i am planning on getting him for finals

Al Says: 9:58 pm, August 2nd, 2007

Need some help!
Upgrading Boyle this week, who to get?
Bowden, Sinclair, Carazzo or Drummond?

Help would be much appreciated

Hirdy Says: 10:01 pm, August 2nd, 2007

carazzo easily

osdvnsovn Says: 10:03 pm, August 2nd, 2007

lol you waited til boyle came back to trade him?

Al Says: 10:17 pm, August 2nd, 2007

Well yeh, i didnt need to trade him earlier cause i had a full playing backline but im up against a tough opponent this week so i think its the right week to upgrade to a quality back.

osdvnsovn Says: 10:20 pm, August 2nd, 2007

yeah good plan. you must be doing something right to be able to trade boyle for carrazzo!

Al Says: 10:49 pm, August 2nd, 2007

So carrazzo definately the better option? does carlton have a good run home as well where carrazzo is likely to score points?

Jordox Says: 10:55 pm, August 2nd, 2007

anyone know how serious matty lappins injury is. how many games is he looking to miss???

Cam Says: 11:07 pm, August 2nd, 2007

carrazzo will get tagged

Ed Says: 11:10 pm, August 2nd, 2007

Collingwood haven’t really tagged this year, most opposition midfielders do pretty well against them.

Kane Says: 11:44 pm, August 2nd, 2007

I have 1 trade left, and im 3rd at the moment, but need to win against a tough opponent to retain a top 4 position. Ive got noone playing on my midfield bench, and cam bruce is out so im gonna be 1 short there… I have 50grand in the bank, so i can trade him out for anyone if i want. Should I trade him out for jimmy bartel or sumthin? or just wait till bruce comes back and save the trade…
also ive got scott west playin in the midfield is he sure to play the rest of the season?

Carrots Says: 8:36 am, August 3rd, 2007

Dude, there’s no ’sure’ thing in footy. I don’t reckon you should go into the finals with 0 trades.

Mammes Says: 9:43 am, August 3rd, 2007

Hirdy pick up the birch if you can, in pretty good form of late.

85, 85, 72, 110, 88

$295,500

B/E of 49.

Not many have him so might be a weapon come finals.

angel cabrerra Says: 10:01 am, August 3rd, 2007

yeah get rid of bruce wont be at full fitness durig your finals, tradeout

angel cabrerra Says: 10:03 am, August 3rd, 2007

how come my finish him got deleted, i was telling tommy to get rid of that syke finish him

Michael Long Says: 10:06 am, August 3rd, 2007

Hey, i resemble that comment

angel cabrerra Says: 10:07 am, August 3rd, 2007

resemble or resent?

angel cabrerra Says: 10:09 am, August 3rd, 2007

hey michael any tips on the bombers coaching job, sportsbet have odds, daniher?

angel cabrerra Says: 10:12 am, August 3rd, 2007

bally is ok joey, he isnt part of the virus

Michael Long Says: 10:22 am, August 3rd, 2007

daniher or harvey i would think

will an aboriginal ever coach an afl team?? plenty in the game but never make it to coaching level

tom Says: 10:24 am, August 3rd, 2007

You guys crack me up.

Glad you like the site!

Killer K Says: 10:29 am, August 3rd, 2007

has anyone in melb heard anymore about wallace at richmond apparently being white-anted by ron joseph in an attemp to install sheeds(as reported on footy show last night).

amazing stuff if it is true!

Killer K Says: 10:35 am, August 3rd, 2007

correct! that’s what makes it so wrong. conflict of interest with him being a player manager. crazy stuff and the last thing some of those struggling vic clubs need

nels Says: 11:13 am, August 3rd, 2007

Yeah I heard that on the footy show last night too.. Very far-fetched but ol’ Gaz Lyon was 110% that it was the truth.. Controversy a plenty!

Anyway, My supercoach finals hopes rely on this weekend’s big match. help a brother out here.. I’ve gotta trade of ol’ pendles cos of his foot. leaves me with $477k to play with, was thinkin either:

Swan, Scotland or Carazzo.. or even Malceski for the swannies. any hot tips?

joey Says: 11:14 am, August 3rd, 2007

id go swan nels

Killer K Says: 11:15 am, August 3rd, 2007

swan or carazzo i think…. probably carazzo

joey Says: 11:15 am, August 3rd, 2007

haha who is this freak?

nels take a look at this guy

Dean Says: 11:15 am, August 3rd, 2007

glad i got rid of bruce last week and picked up kcornes….just thought id mention

hirdy, i would look at gram becuase he does usually score at least 80 but form has been down recently, depends on the saints run home..i would look at waters as he does get a few posses’ and short kicks and marks in the backline..birchall is good but the smokey might be gilbert, he’s a pretty good second rate backline player whose reasonably priced and does run through the midfield! sorry i couldn’t narrow it down, but i would be considering those 4!

Dean Says: 11:19 am, August 3rd, 2007

…or adam hunter thats 5!

Killer K Says: 11:20 am, August 3rd, 2007

assuming u already have kane cornes & jimmy bartel in the middle nels?

joel corey is on fire but very exxy now

nels Says: 11:49 am, August 3rd, 2007

Yeah I was swingin towards Swan..

unfortunately Corey is out of my price range.. as well as bartel, AND k cornes haha =( it’s a sad lookin midfield to be honest. Managed to rack up 2457 points last week though so I was happy, even if pendlebury did break his foot!

Ed Says: 12:26 pm, August 3rd, 2007

You do realise that Swan is more expensive than Bartel?

nels Says: 12:32 pm, August 3rd, 2007

talkin supercoach mate. I wish that were the case. Bartel’s about 40 gorillas more

Sav Says: 12:49 pm, August 3rd, 2007

boys boys boys very simple 4 sav this week Dean Cox an absolute Moral i reckon 120 should be resonable this week sandilands out will dominate at the stoppages go u good thing hahahahaha

angel cabrerra Says: 1:04 pm, August 3rd, 2007

terry wallace is the media darling, has he ever done anything, that was a handy list he had at the bulldogs, i dont like a coach who at his after match press conferance can say exactly how many games less experience his side has to the opposition, pre match working out what excuse to use, mark williams is the greatest, neil craig paralysis by analysis

angel cabrerra Says: 1:12 pm, August 3rd, 2007

nelsy 2457, were u tested after the game?

shane Says: 1:18 pm, August 3rd, 2007

angel… supercoach scores are generally higher than standard dt scores so i would compare this to about the same as a 2000->2100 dt score

angel cabrerra Says: 1:22 pm, August 3rd, 2007

oh, i thought supercoach was what you are called when u hit a national high score or something, ok then nelsy your test came up clean

Cobra Kai Says: 1:25 pm, August 3rd, 2007

Looking at trading out Beau Waters for Carrazzo this week. Also considering dumping Foley for Swan and then next week ditching Hudson for Big Cox. Would require the use of a 4th trade to free up cash and leave me with 2 trades left over.

Thoughts?

shane Says: 1:54 pm, August 3rd, 2007

cobra, are you in the top4? i personally want 1 trade left per final that I play so im intending to go into the finals with 3-4 trades remaining and depending on injuries/upgrades making changes from there.. if you currently have 6 trades left i see no harm in freeing up cash and making an upgrade this week

Matt Says: 1:56 pm, August 3rd, 2007

I cant find any info on Matthew Lappins Hamstring Injury - anyone know how bad it is?

Cobra Kai Says: 2:03 pm, August 3rd, 2007

Shane, currently sitting 4th but a loss this week could drop me as low as 6th. The trades I’m looking at are more about improving my team for the next month of football rather than just this week though.

shane Says: 2:19 pm, August 3rd, 2007

cobra: i would definitely use 2 trades this week that set you up for the finals series and that will leave you with 4 left for finals - you can then assess your options after this weekends results

good luck this weekend achieving a top 4 position

Cobra Kai Says: 2:30 pm, August 3rd, 2007

That was kind of my thinking too, Shane. Feel better about it now!

Sydney Suck Says: 2:54 pm, August 3rd, 2007

There are so many potential captains this week.

Riewoldt vs. WB
Gary Ablett vs. Richmond
Dean Cox vs. Warnock.. LOL

Who should I put as skipper this thiss week?

spock Says: 3:05 pm, August 3rd, 2007

i think out of those three i would pick Chad Cornes

Sydney Suck Says: 3:14 pm, August 3rd, 2007

Well, I’ve got him too.

rossi Says: 4:16 pm, August 3rd, 2007

Who do you think is better out of Jace Bode and Michael Jamison? Both are listed to debut this week and both are $69600.

Ed Says: 4:29 pm, August 3rd, 2007

I’d probably go with Jamison as Carlton are really testing out all their young players at the moment and don’t want to win another game. I’ve never seen either player but that would be my choice. I don’t think it would matter all that much this late in the season though, unless you were forced to play one of them.

Kane Says: 4:56 pm, August 3rd, 2007

Kane cornes, chad cornes, jimmy bartel, who do u rekon for captain this round?

hingding Says: 5:11 pm, August 3rd, 2007

chad cornes will kill it in the derby. always plays well against crows and will be likely to go forward a little bit with no tredrea and no rutten…

CAPTAIN CORNES

Tommo Says: 5:37 pm, August 3rd, 2007

I rekon Rhan Hooper would be a great captain. He is the best player in the afl by far. Now that he is out of rehab he has a great chance of winning the brownlow

dean Says: 5:47 pm, August 3rd, 2007

does anyone have any injury news on patty ryder?? im sure i saw him at the shopping centre i work at, and he is from my area in perth!!! he was with his little brother and his mum which i have seen before…at the local footy where his dad plays. anyway jsut thought id let anyone know who may have him playing in there team this wkend…if you have have really crappy rucks…sorry…and sorry i should of bloody asked him if it was him!!

Jackson Jackson Says: 6:28 pm, August 3rd, 2007

hey fellas, get on the big cox, sandilands or warnock arent playing. he will get atleast 30 hitouts for starters

Tommo Says: 6:42 pm, August 3rd, 2007

how do you know warnock isnt playing Jackson

Kane Says: 6:43 pm, August 3rd, 2007

Warnock is playing.. Im still wondering whether to make kane, chad or jimmy captain

Jordox Says: 7:08 pm, August 3rd, 2007

thanx to matt for at least trying to answer my lappin question. i got rid of him. not worth the risk

Hirdy Says: 10:10 pm, August 6th, 2007

Where is the round 18 talking points? So glad, i chose jummy as captain over chad cornes and luckily not Kane Cornes

Jeraldo Says: 1:13 am, August 7th, 2007

gettin slack on the updates boys
