Hey, wha’ happened?: Matt Priddis (37). Reckon this is the end of Priddis’ reign as an elite DT player? Hard to gauge, but the early numbers are in and it doesn’t look good. Priddis averages 93 this season (before Saturday night’s game) but Cousins’ return to AFL saw a measly score of 37. That includes six tackles (if you believe ProStats…) However, Peter Everitt can count himself lucky he’s not getting the big boo this week. His score of 28 was even worse, but he’s off the hook due to Priddis’ far higher price.

It’s a shorter edition of Talking Points this week, since a hand injury sustained last week makes it hard to type
Aside from Brown’s massive score against the Blues, there were a couple of notable successes (Lappin, Adcock) and some noticeable disappointments (Drummond = 51, Rischitelli = 32). Meanwhile several Carlton players had their best games in a while – Bryce Gibbs’ score of 87 was his highest ever, while Fev’s 97 is his second highest this year. And Heath Scotland’s 102 was his first ton since round 11. Meanwhile, Marc Murphy fell flat with a score of 35.
Cousins starred but other Eagle inclusions also did well against the Swans. Tyson Stenglein scored 88, Ashley Hansen scored 101, and Daniel Kerr scored 90. Chris Judd did well to score 92 (with plenty of tackles to encourage Dream Team coaches that he’ll continue to score well despite a groin injury).
Another return to form this week was Dream Team gun Kane Cornes. Kornes bounced back from some dodgy scores with 144, while Warren Tredrea’s 116 was his first ton of 2007. Will he keep it up or was a once-off? The only black spot for Port Adelaide players was Justin Westhoff and Robert Gray’s form which yielded 45 and 26 points respectively. For the Tigers, Troy Simmonds’ 86 was his best of the year, as he regains match fitness after an ankle injury.
Andrew Mackie, with a classy 134 is the story to take home from Friday night’s match. Gazza Jnr snared a lazy 130, Joel Corey 120 (after a 50-point opening term) and Paul Chapman scoring 117. Jimmy Bartel had 38 touches and scored 117. For those without him, now is the time… But little Joel Selwood - 118 this time, an incredible effort and his fourth ton in ton games (an average of 109 over this period).
For the Doggies it was a bleak night, highlighted only by Tom Williams, who bobbed up with a ton. Scott West scrambled 95 on one leg, while Andrejs Everitt rolled in 77 and looked classy. Aker had a disappointing 60, while a backline favourite, Lindsay Gilbee, scored a paltry 34 after a second quarter injury. Word is he will be sidelined for up to a month. Meanwhile the Coon-dog’s bubble burst when he came up against The Pink Pig, and broke his run of six straight hundreds with only 41.
Tarkyn Lockyer was everywhere against the Dons, scoring 142, while Travis Cloke backed up last weeks 121 with 110 this week. Ireland’s Judd did his nation proud with 86, however the news was not so good for those with Heath Shaw who scored just 53. And it looks like Dane Swan has become an ugly duckling - just 52 this week. He will plunge down into the waters of a price drop soon. But the story of the week comes in the form of everyone’s favourite DT champ, Presti, who blasted back onto the scene with 23. Incredibly, he in now worth 87k (most debutants are 82k!) For the Dons, Damien Peverill led the way with 119, while Adam McPhee was quieter than usual with 60, and Dustin Fletcher returned from his suspension with a ho-hum 70.
Nine Freo players cracked three figures, headed by the popular Matthew Pavlich with a dominating 139. The Purple Haze kicked three and got 125 breaking his run of low scores, and Peter Bell bounced back into form in his 300th match with 129. And Marcus Drum, in his first game for the year, kicked four majors. A prospect next year, perhaps? For Adelaide, Simon Goodwin top scored with 110. Scott Thompson and Andrew McLeod were down a little on the past performances, scoring 82 and 75 respectively. Also disappointing was the talented Stiffy Johncock, who just didn’t stand up on Saturday night and managed a limp 50.
From the Hawk camp, Buddy Love kicked 5.5 on his way to scoring 113, while Grant Birchall scored 110. Let downs came from Jordan Lewis and Shane Crawford who scored 65 and 55 respectively. For the Sainters… whoa! Luke Ball came from nowhere, kicking three goals and scoring a mammoth 154. Leigh Montagna returned in style to form with 143, and Lenny Hayes showed his value with 130. The Volt (109), Nick Dal Santo (105) and Sam Fisher (101) also impressed on a good night for the Saints.
Gibbs may get some time in the midfield with Pagan axed and carlton looking to play the kids even more…

Timba, im no DT expert, but im pretty sure you shouldn’t have 350k in the bank still with only 1 trade left!! If you do trade, which you shouldn’t unless you’re trying to make the finals, trade someone cheap on your bench, you should still get a k cornes or bartel with that kind of $$, priddis may be a dud now, but a great bench warmer!

Firstly, Priddis….. he is an average midfielder who was getting a lot of uncontested possesions, now that the likes of cousins, kerr and co. are back it is likely that priddis will not be used in the midfield, but as a back or foreward line player reducing his ball use. He is superstar so when he was at over 400k he should have been traded.
Secondly J.Brown is a superstar
Thirdly If ur looking for a good pickups, look at collingwood players they have an easy run home, and stay away from any fringe carlton players, with pagen gone there is sure to be a lot of changed to allow younger players to should the skill.

Just wondering who you guys would get for gilbee? Don’t have a lot of money and want to save trades for finals, looking at welsh, gilbert maybe wheatley. Any other suggestions within tht sort of price range.
A-rod -in my opinion, there’s no1 very exciting in the gilbee price range… exept maybe Gilbert. Im a saints fan, and he’s impressed me greatly this season!! he has a rugby background and tackles A LOT! plus seems to do a lot of floating in the back half, and floats up into the middle a fair bit too… If u did want to trade, id pick him… otherwise, Gilbee will prob b only a couple of weeks away (says 2-3 weeks)… and as the injury isnt too severe, he should be able to come back and play close to a full game straight away… Have u got any decent benchers??
Timba: Keep Priddis. Hold onto that trade as long as possible. Priddis will still score a bit. Doesn’t sound like you need any upgrades with a score like that! And besides even if he does have another bad week or two, you will still be able to trade him for Dal Santo, West, Goodes etc. Every week you put off using that last trade is another week you are prepared if one of your 400K stars gets a season ending injury.
A-Rod: I’m in the same position as you. I’m looking at Fletcher for 300K because I don’t have him. Other players I’ve thought about are McMahon (might have a bigger role with Gilbee out), Birchall, Milburn, Shaw, McPhee.

Him or Lenny Hayes… The saints Midfield is dominating atm, and Lenny was last year’s Bartel before he got injured, averaging way over 100 every week!! And he’s clearly over his injuries now, and raking in the points! Same with Montagna - theyre both awesome picks cos opposition teams always tag Dal Santo, and plus they both score heavily on tackles too… low BE’s too…
Get Benny Boy in the midfield. He is cut like a diamond and will get 30 touches every week for the rest of the season.

Within the 4 trade amount mark you are not really looking at the upgrades they are more for injuries. Especialy with 2 you really need to save them for the finals. As long as you have a top 4 spot you are safe.
about troy simmonds.. i dont thin his form is gonna get that much better.. after seeing hime yesterday u can see he’s still struggling fitness wise and especailly now that pasttison is established as a top quality ruckman i would advise against picking him up…

Henry if come final times your going well injury wise and your weekest point is Jacobs then you should strongly consider upgrading him. Don’t do it first week though as you have a second chance. If you lose then i would do the trade at that point.
But you never know what injuries could happen to your star players.

I think it depends on your fixture mate. If you have a tough game this week, id do the double trade and pick the Lock. I just picked him up a few weeks ago and am in DT love.
If its an easy game, maybe let one of the resis fill in and re-assess next week. The backliners at the moment have some pretty crap players around that 250,000 mark, but if Lindsay comes back in time, i might pick him up for finals, need to get rid of that bloody Wirrapunda.
Chris Judd - should I keep him or get rid of him? I have 8 trades and undefeated in my league but have a hard one this week. I can sell a bench player (Tom Hawkins) and Judd for Bartell while he’s cheap. Any thoughts on what I shoul do? I’m also considering Joel Selwood and Hawkins for Bartell

I wouldn’t count on Barry Hall coming good. They’ve already said he won’t be 100% for the rest of the year. You’d be better off going with Burton for a cheap forward, although there might be better options.

Murphy is always gonna get a heavy tag unless there is someone else more damaging. Carrazzo is doing his best to get those hard tags now, but he’s still not as damaging with his possies as Murphy.
Remember, Nick Stevens will be back next year, so he’ll free Murphy up from the tags…

Somebody asked about Browne earlier. He played in the Claremont reserves. From what I can gather he pulled up OK and should play seniors next week. All going well will probably be available for the Dockers in 2 weeks or so. If you are relying on him as a back up centre to get you into the finals, well you might be in trouble.
If he could have stayed fit (a big ask for Browne it seems) then he would have been one of the DT golden picks this season, no doubt. - alas fitness is a big part of the deal.

Lenny B - I think the highest individual DT score was by Wayne Carey when he had 31 possesions and kicked 11 goals against Melbourne in 1996. He ended up scoring 209 DT points.

Sandilands should be back this week. He has been taken off Freo’s injury list and Tuesday’s paper said he should be back. No one knows what’s happening with Cam Bruce. It still says test on Melbourne’s injury list and the club seem to be hiding the extent of his hamstring injury… You never know, he may be back this week. Winderlich isn’t mentioned anywhere.
Winderlich is averaging 90 which is a lot better than some… Saying that, I still don’t have him in my side coz he seems to be injured a lot… Go back to sleep Syke(o).

Just 1 trade left, and must win the next two games to have any hope of finals. Up against top two teams in next two rounds. Do I trade Koschitzke for: Polak or Newman; or Headland for: Foley, Enright, Selwood or Scotland (can bring Xavier Ellis on for Kozy to cover suspension). Any advice appreciated! Cheers.

Sounds like you’re screwed. Headland can score just as many points as the other three centres you mentioned so there’s no point selling him. Kosi should be left in your side as he’s only out for a week but if you need to win then Polak or Newman will score more than Ellis. That looks like your only option. You better choose a good captain if you’re playing the top sides. Good luck and next year save your trades!!!

If you’re not planning on keeping Kosi then this would be a good week to trade him for Lockyer. Lockyer will rise in price and Kosi is out, plus I don’t know if Hawkins will hold his spot when Nablett returns, which could be this week.

Raul Malceski is one of those suprising players who could have his worst game agianst the worst team. His very on and off some times so may not be your best choice. Must be a better option for ya tho?

Surely you have a more consistant centre or someone like Chad Cornes BJ or Riewoldt who will score you 100.
Captain material should be against Adelaide who give away the most 100’s. So maybe Scott Lucas (no rut so will prob get Massie on him).
However without Chappy you would suggest Gazza or Bartel will dominate with extra time on the ball. So either one of those would be decent.
In the end your opinion on Captains is good as mine, and if you think Mal will dominate then put him ya captain.

I’m with Tom, Riewoldt captain in both my teams. I mean come on, against Carlton how can you resist? Though I was considering Dal Santo.. Saints engine room is just such an inferno there might not be room for him to shine.
What I find pretty funny is I have 5 defenders out this week: Gilbee, Wirrpanda, Kosi, Ellis and Boyle (my two bench players). The situation is deplorable, lucky I’m playing dead bottom..

As for those so called experienced coaches, I dont think the same could be said about BOCK. I can’t show respect to any coach who has or has had BOCK in there side.
If BOCK is your so called secret weapon I suggest you amatuer want-to-be elite coached watch out for next year.

I just sold Murphy for K Cornes. I’m thinking if you want him, get him now coz he only has a BE of 42 while Bruce has a BE of 128 and they are both currently the same price. It all depends on how many trades you have left. You must have at least 2 trades for the finals no matter what anyone says so don’t be tempted now if you are already in the finals.

i saw the B/E on both, and thats my justification whether to take the risk and pick kcornes up, because he is usually solid, i have 3 trades left and sit equal top and play crap teams for the final 2. its just whether i pick him up cheap before he balloons out of price especially with cbruce’s B/E! but then gotta save trades for injuries too! bloody DT is addictive and frustrating, stops me from doing work!!!
I reakon I spend at least 2 hours a day on Dreamteam and 4 hours on Fridays while my weekend is spent watching all the games as well as playing footy myself on Saturday’s. Chad Cornes what a hero!! I got two zeros in the forward line cos Chapman, Kossie, Gray and Hawkins all decided they wouldnt play all on the same week which cost me the win. Didn’t want to burn any trades as the trade was more important than winning (i lost by 23).
