Talking Points: round 15

by dreamteamhero.com.au | July 15th, 2007 | Comments : [142] | Categories: Talking Points.

Player of the week: Adam Cooney (150). Cooney is a deserving recipient this week – not only for his dominant performance against the Dons, but also for his last six weeks; before Saturday night, his last five scores were: 107, 122, 103, 122, 107. Farrrk. Sorry, Lenny Hayes (who scored 146) but when you get those sort of numbers for six weeks in a row, you’ll get your medal in the mail. And to think Cooney nearly wasn’t going to play! Did anyone pick him up at $274k after round 7? Let me know.

Honourable mentions: Hayes, Chornes (139), Nick Riewoldt (138), Sam Fisher (130)

Biggest disappointment: Shaun Burgoyne (35). Didn’t see the game, so I’m not sure what happened. Apparently tagged by Adam Selwood, but by Christ there’s no excuse for that kind of a score. 13 possessions – but only four kicks. Less handball more football, Burger!

Other points of interest:

Hard to know which is more disappointing – Chris Judd’s score of 36, or the prospect of more missed matches due to that groin injury. Judd is now worth $331k and falling fast, while several other Eagle team-mates are in the same boat (Quinten Lynch, Michael Braun, Matt Priddis and Beau Waters all face breakevens over 120 next week).

Sam Fisher’s 130 followed up a 129 last week, while other Saints didn’t struggle on Saturday night. They may have won by two points, but their 22 easily outscored the Crows in Dream Team terms. Robert Harvey and Leigh Montagna also did well (122 each) while Kosi bobbed up with 110 – a relief to the thousands of coaches who have him in their teams. For the Crows, Andrew McLeod was the best performer with 117. He’s in form, after a 125 last week, while Scott Thompson is also travelling well. His 106 made it five tons in the last six weeks. Also for the Crows, Jason Torney’s 99 was his highest of this year.

How good is Joel Selwood? His score of 108 against Collingwood propelled him to $329k in price, with a breakeven of 34. It was his third ton in four weeks since coming back into the Cats’ side. Joel Corey (113) was the best Geelong player, while Jimmy Bartel’s score of 81 will result in a price fall to $361k. He’ll drop further, however; his breakeven will be 156 next week. For the Pies, Tarkyn Lockyer (128) and Travis Cloke (121) were the best Dream Team players on the ground; Cloke’s unusually accurate kicking gave him a boost on his usual solid numbers. Dane Swan managed 86 despite battling the Pink Pig, but Anthony Rocca (39) struggled.

While the Cornes brothers scored 263 between them on Saturday night, it was two youngsters who recorded career-highs. Justin Westhoff (99) and Travis Boak (90) both played really well in the Power’s win over West Coast. It wasn’t so good for the Eagles – aside from Judd’s injury (and the 91 point loss) only one player topped 100; Andrew Embley (112). That’s the first time that has happened this year – the Eagles are a notoriously prolific Dream Team side.

The Dogs had a good night on Saturday – as well as Cooney, Brad Johnson and Nathan Eagleton both scored 100s and Jordan McMahon (99) showed he’s back in form. Farren Ray scored his highest of the year (91), and Aker registered 88. Not good news from Lindsay Gilbee (69) and Luke Darcy (53). For the Dons, Damien Peverill (110) top-scored while the form of popular fantasy players Brent Stanton (106) and Scott Lucas (91) will hearten their owners.

Jonathan Brown was back with menace against Melbourne, scoring a wonderful 128; his points always come in style. But he wasn’t the only Lion to have a night out – Luke Power, Jed Adcock, Nigel Lappin, Scott Drummond and Jamie Charman were their top scorers. If you had to nominate who’d be the top six for a game, I reckon I’d go with those six. Simon Black has bottomed out in price; despite scoring just 67, he only slipped 5k and has a breakeven next week of 66. And Jared Brennan is rising fast – his score of 89 means he’s up to $264k with a breakeven of 37.

For the Dees, Brock McLean had his best game for the year with 116, while Chris (A.) Johnson’s 83 was his best since round ten, 2006. Not much other good news – wonder-kid Michael Newton, Monty’s Bubble Boy of the week last week, scored just 14.

I am, like, totally over Peter Everitt and the whole inconsistency thing. 125 against Carlton; that comes after 40, 37 and 70 in the last three weeks. His co-ruck-pilot Darren Jolly scored 87 in the points-fest, which saw Nick Malceski (109), Adam Schneider (107) and Brett Kirk (103) go well. Barry Hall (77) was better than he has been, while Jarrad McVeigh’s score of 80 was one below his career-high. For the Blues, Fev rebounded with 81 while Brad Fisher’s 101 was his second ton of 2007. Heath Scotland scored a useful 90 (but it won’t stop his price sliding) while Andrew Carrazzo disappointed with 64.

Ermi Priddis Says: 1:37 am, July 16th, 2007

Can someone please tell me whats wrong with C.Bruce bought him and hasnt played that turned out great!! How goods Priddis!!

Timba Says: 9:49 am, July 16th, 2007

yeah i hate Cam bruce and his no-shows too… in fact, i now hate him so much, that i hope its a season ending injury so that i can justify trading him…

And yes… Priddis is a gun (however slipping away!! I want more 166’s!!!)

ian Says: 10:03 am, July 16th, 2007

yes… bruce??? also does anyone know if aaron edwards is going to get another game this year or will scott mcmahon ensure he stays out of the kangaroos 22?

Sav Says: 10:12 am, July 16th, 2007

Priddis is a wanka lucky 2 be playin when cousins comes back sema priddis, as 4 bruce well 2 many people put the pressure on him and look what happens…. i saw him the other day and he didn look 2 good i think he will be out this week 2.

James Says: 10:42 am, July 16th, 2007

Time to trade Judd now? I’ve been putting it off for weeks hoping he’d overcome this injury and be good for finals, but I’m thinking it might be a good time to pick up K Cornes instead (finally showed some form on the weekend!)

Hard to know with only 4 trades left, a guaranteed finals spot and Bartel even cheaper in weeks to come…

stants Says: 10:44 am, July 16th, 2007

shuld i trade milburn or gilbee? they both are inconsistent and get crap scores. by the way brent stanton is very cheap hes 296 grand thats pretty for someone that averages 93 and hes back in form thats whay i got him for judd.

Gideon Says: 11:07 am, July 16th, 2007

Fev @ 212k? Useful backup on the bench?

Haydos Says: 11:39 am, July 16th, 2007

Ian, Aaron Edwards and Scott McMahon are 2 completely different players. One plays full 4ward/centre half 4ward and the other plays on the back flank.

David Hale and Drew Petrie are the ones keeping Aaron out of the team.

Gideon i watched the game on the weekend and I didnt think that Fev has changed much he’s attitude was pretty similar and its only a matter of time till he goes back to his old way IMO, but if you have the trades and cash it could be worth the risk

stants I wouldnt trade either player unless you had over 10 trades at least. Unless someone has dropped off significantly and are in their price range you will only be trading for players who get very similar scores

turtle Says: 12:08 pm, July 16th, 2007

i agree - priddis is a joke - we call him sol-glo, cant wait till he gets dropped… my mate jimmy bartel is the one guys, wait for him to finish off the year in a blaze of glory, and maybe wear charlie home monday night of grand final week…

turtle Says: 12:12 pm, July 16th, 2007

i agree boys, priddis is a joke, we call him sol-glo (coming to america)… my mate jimmy bartel is a gun, got me lots of wins early when i’d leave big jimmy as captain - thanks mate…

if u want to win some easy money, get on chad cornes 4 the brownlow - came tied 3rd 2 years ago, and he’s had a better season this year. unlike his hotdogger brother, the chad is a hard unit, and wins matches off his own boot. go the chad…

STRAYA Says: 1:53 pm, July 16th, 2007

Give it up Gideon - Fev on your bench is a waste of a trade! You need to think about the 22 on the field if you are going to make the 8 in the “Miracle Mile”!!

Arthur Says: 3:40 pm, July 16th, 2007

hey should i sell b hudson for maric or leuenger? after sellin one i can then afford to upgrade jesse smith to a tarkyn lockyer and then still have ellis as emergency… i have 5 trades left and so then id have 3 left and am sittin 2nd in league and bout 200th overall…

Taz Says: 3:44 pm, July 16th, 2007

Wanting to maximise my davey cash cow but dont know which forward to trade for. Need someone who is likely to get a game as hawkins is my other bench player and is not guarenteed a game when nablett returns. Thoughts/Suggestions?

Ed Says: 3:46 pm, July 16th, 2007

If Hudson is on your bench then it sounds like a good idea. You’d want to be careful you don’t get caught out with injured players in the finals though, and that’s when having spare trades comes in handy.

Gideon Says: 4:05 pm, July 16th, 2007

STRAYA - I haven’t fieled a full 22 for over a month! Maric will play more then Leuenger Lockyer is a good upgrade - but sit on those three trades - you’ll need em.

ken Says: 4:31 pm, July 16th, 2007

how can priddis be a joke?! avg’d 80’s/90 and he was worth 190k or something! i dont see that as a joke!

Timba Says: 4:40 pm, July 16th, 2007

he’s great when it comes to dream team - especially since he has been one of the biggest cash-cows of the comp… however, watching him play, he’s not fantastic - he follows that packs around, getting a lot of loose ball, or the ball from under-pressure team-mates… half the time, they refuse to give it to him - but he’s just always there…

In saying that, i love him, cos ive had him since round 1, and has been super pick-up for under $200,000… but that’s the ONLY reason i like him!!

hirdy Says: 5:16 pm, July 16th, 2007

Boys In round 6 i had the choice: Richitelli or Cooney. I picked cooney and it was the best decision i have ever made in dream team. I could not be more happy with him.

Booth Says: 5:20 pm, July 16th, 2007

wherez the honourable mention for joel bowden?? … didn’t play great… got heapz of lose marks…. but loved his 138pts!

Timba sums priddas up pretty good… don’t rate him as a player… but hes been a good pick up & a worth while player 2 have in ya team….

i love nigel lappin… his lowest is a 92 in the last 7 weeks…. was frustrated with him at the start…. but been a real good option now… just hit up $390,000 this week!!

Antony Says: 6:08 pm, July 16th, 2007

Sorry just wanted to point out that it’s Josh Drummond not Scott… And yea spider just turns it on for two games a season atm… second game got 133 and havnt seen ne good scores for a while till this week

Brayden Says: 6:28 pm, July 16th, 2007

Who ever gave me that advice last week - i think it was tom? - fkn love you.

Mark Says: 6:50 pm, July 16th, 2007

Do you reckon its time to trade Chris Judd? Will he be rested in the forward line if he plays or will he still stay in the middle?
Any thoughts…

Kynan Says: 6:55 pm, July 16th, 2007

Does anyone know when Rob Gray will play next or if he will plays at all?

Ed Says: 6:58 pm, July 16th, 2007

Mark - I’m in the same boat as you. I’m considering trading him for Bartel. They’re both going to drop in value this week but Bartel should score more, and then perhaps rise in value again. From what I’ve read Judd is going to be played injured and will spend less time in the midfield. Even if Judd does return to form Bartel should be able to match him, if not outscore him.

Richo Says: 7:16 pm, July 16th, 2007

Just wondering,what your thought on
picking up Lockyer, has he bottemed out?

Peter Says: 7:58 pm, July 16th, 2007

Lockyer is a great bet at the minnie with coll’s run home (and a reliable capitano too) but im thinkin bowden might be btter… thoughts?
also stants has pulled his hammy minorly, likely to miss this week

hirdy Says: 8:23 pm, July 16th, 2007

This may sound crazy at first but makes sense eventually. I want to trade Cooney for Kane Cornes and with money left over plus money in the bank i want to upgrade David Rodan to Simon Goodwin. Am i truly crazy or does this make sense?

Sydney Suck Says: 8:34 pm, July 16th, 2007

I think this week I’ll bite the bullet and trade Judd. He might keep playing but he’ll certainly be hampered.

I’m trading for Kane or Bartel. Bartel will drop more, Kane will stay about the same.. but that’s IF he doesn’t get another hard tagging job.

and that’s it, last week I tossed up between Cox and Lappin.. this week it’s Lappin, I don’t care who Brisbane are against.

dave Says: 8:42 pm, July 16th, 2007

im thinking of trading shaun burgoyne for stanton and judd for bartell, what r ur thoughts?

mammes Says: 9:13 pm, July 16th, 2007

Dave, Stanton is injured and is in doubt, mail has been he might be out for 4.

K-Kornes, Lockyer, Scotland, Hall and Black have bottomed out.

Look for Bartel to fall again and same with Andrew Carrazzo, Judd and BJ.

Priddis may be an option to trade out this week, Has a high break even and with cousins and kerr back means less time spent in the middle.

Priddis to K Kornes is actually a downgrade.

Looking to upgrade B.Harris but continues to play some good DT footy and a small B/E be silly to trade this week.

Josh Fraser is a bargin at 300,000 and will play more and more minutes in the ruck as Collingwoods other ruckman are shite.

Anyone know what the GO is with Gilbee has really struggled this season and isn’t the consistant scorer he was last season.

Sydney Suck Says: 9:38 pm, July 16th, 2007

shaun burgoyne was one of my worst pick-ups of the season.. pity I can’t really trade the blighter now.

with beau waters / judd / burgoyne dominating the 30s, i somehow still got 1950 thanks to cooney and his man-machine efforts.
goal-scoring midfield = massive points. ironically, that’s what shaun burgoyne masquerades as.

Cooney could be a brownlow favourite next season. Man I love watching WB.

Mark Says: 10:23 pm, July 16th, 2007

Thanks for ur help Ed. I think Bartel would be a good choice.
Lindsay Gilbee has never been a consistent DT scorer. But if u have him i’d keep him bc he is still capable of high scores.

dicleo Says: 9:24 am, July 17th, 2007

Sav and Archy Moses quietly how terrible is J Bowden what a champion he hates getting cheap marks. UR right about Priddis i reckon he wont get a gam eif cousins comes back. SO sorry again Judd, great score mate

simon Says: 10:16 am, July 17th, 2007

Where do you find any info on the Stanton injury?

Sydney Suck Says: 11:43 am, July 17th, 2007

joel bowden is tripe.

Gilbee has been up and down but you can’t really trade him at this stage of the season in any case. I was certainly surprised to see hear of Kane tagging Gilbee a couple of weeks ago, I guess he has an excuse there.

What are peoples opinions of Kane Cornes? He’s tagged hard three weeks in a row, though obviously he was able to run off Judd so I’m not sure what this indicates. Had Judd been fine, it might’ve been a bit more like Kane vs. Simon Black.

Timba Says: 12:02 pm, July 17th, 2007

I still cant find anything, so has anyone heard anything about Cameron Bruce’s injury??

Also, with the Priddis factor - even if kerr and cousins come back, there are stil a number of other eagles still injured on the sidelines, keeping him in the team. HOWEVER - he has been playing the cousins role all season (i mean on the field, not off taking drugs :-p) so it is only really a cousins recall that will c his numbers drop…

Sav Says: 2:11 pm, July 17th, 2007

yes cam bruce didnt look 2 good and as a sportsmen who has played the game i would think he injury is something u can play wit if u want a judd like score. It would be better if Melb dont play him, not 4 us fantasy coaches tho who have him

macca Says: 3:32 pm, July 17th, 2007

oh dicleo - your stature as a dreamteam coach rises with each blog.

Do you honestly think Priddis will be dropped when cousins returns? I guarantee you that will not happen. Get a clue.

Oh and by the way, did you notice Brennan posted another good score???

Booth Says: 4:12 pm, July 17th, 2007

yeh as if priddas will get dropped!!!!

Jim Says: 4:25 pm, July 17th, 2007

Captain issue - with Juddy playing like hes been sniffing cuz’s locker, all the more important this week… Lockyer, Lappin, Cox, Brad Johnson or Chornes?

dicleo Says: 4:30 pm, July 17th, 2007

Oh macca 1st of all im only shit stirring so dont have a teary in the pond. And please tell me where priddis fits in when all the guns are back, do u honestly think he would be getting this much of the ball if they were playing. Also if you think that Brennan is capable of being in your best 22 dreamteam then go ahead, why dont u chuck daniel Merret in the mix also.He is a gun

dicleo Says: 4:33 pm, July 17th, 2007

I reckon Brett Montomery is also a fantastic pickup this year he has a massive average. I also wish Phil Matera and Matty Nights were still playing cos they would definately be in my top 22, along with Ebert and Scott Chisolm and Gary Durrkay

Peter Says: 4:36 pm, July 17th, 2007

The eagles field alot of other players who would get dropped before Priddis does.

Timba Says: 4:37 pm, July 17th, 2007

yeah thats more the issue with Priddis… how much ball he’ll get… i really doubt he’ll get dropped, tho his numbers will severely drop.
He’s actually very slow, and was predicted to never get a game because of it. But with the likes of cousins et al coming back, they’ll beat him to the ball every time.

Anyway… we can debate it all we want - but prob would be easier to wait til friday when teams are decided to decide ourselves… Especailly since Judd is unlikely, he should be playing this week at least!

macca Says: 4:38 pm, July 17th, 2007

I have Brennan sitting comfortably on my bench and i will be trading him for some extra cash in the coming weeks - 9 trades and 91k in the bank, nice!

As for Priddis, i agree we wont be seeing his scores of 150 from early in the year when cousins returns, but your comment was “i reckon he wont get a gam eif cousins comes back”. I gaurantee he will still get a game….

raul Says: 6:20 pm, July 17th, 2007

discusssin the gilbee issue..

i traded him for heath shaw. Best move ever got 50 grand and used that to buy goodwin”

WOOD like to express wat a dissapointment ben jonson s burgoyne and niki dal were to me hoo i had thi season a the start.

winda cost me this week and a must win game coming up so he got the bot and in came niki malchek?

thought on my comments.

A-Rod Says: 7:24 pm, July 17th, 2007

did the same trade as u raul for some excellent results (providing they continue). i’ll also second ur list of dissapointments (altho dal is a gun in SC) and add sandi and wirra. also wondering who to get for davey now that he’s out for the season.

Mark Says: 7:40 pm, July 17th, 2007

So you guys think Cousins will dominate when he gets back?

hirdy Says: 7:50 pm, July 17th, 2007

Raul Nick Dal was very very good at the start of the year but with the likes of Hayes, Harvey and ball in the midfield, Nick isn’t as required as he once was. Must admit very good trade to bring in Nick Malcheski as he is the real step up of this year.

Again is it time to give cooney the boot and trade for kane cornes and then trade Rodan for Goodwin. The trade is very tempting.

PapaJ Says: 9:15 pm, July 17th, 2007

Just busting to add to the Priddis chorus: Overrated player in ‘real life’ that gets the numbers because he hides behind Judd and Kerr (this year, not to mention Cousins and Fletcher, another over rated player). Good DT player especially at his original price, but now the real team is coming back - Judd excepted, will drop even in DT value.

As for Judd, the club are saying he is steadily getting better and aim to be having him as good as ‘injury free’ by the seasons end using ‘management’ strategy blah blah blah … It’s a load of tosh. All team officials lie to our faces about this sort of stuff, but the Eagles (along with the Swans) take the cake. Any blind bat can see that Judd is getting worse as the season progresses. I said in an a week or two back, he’ll play most games this season, but he aint right. If you have trades, I would trade him now while his price is still up there.

On the plus side, he so good he can get his hands on the ball even when injured and if you’re short of trades you can keep him knowing he will give you something even on an average week (although last weekend was a bit of a hole in that theory).

PapaJ Says: 9:23 pm, July 17th, 2007

hirdy, re: Dal Santo. The big thing is that, despite those other players, he is still picking up the oppositions main tagger because he’s all class and they will take 20 possessions from Dal and 30 from Ball etc. knowing that, as good as Ball, Montagna etc are, they aren’t going to be as damaging as Dal. I’m hoping that changes in coming weeks as Montagna, Ball and Hayes continue to hurt opposition teams.

Simon2 Says: 9:25 pm, July 17th, 2007

Simon - What drugs are you on saying Stanton is injured - he scored 106 on the weekend?

Simon Says: 9:30 pm, July 17th, 2007

It’s the same at Port with Shaun Burgoyne as it is with Dal. They’ll tag Shaun Burgoyne and Dal all day long before they go to anyone else because their touches are twice as damaging - re dal against the eagles a couple of rounds ago. I guess you could put Black in that bracket too. I think this makes them DT no goes.

Todd Says: 9:32 pm, July 17th, 2007

Simon2 mate simon is correct. Doesn’t matter that he got 106 he wasn’t playing like normal and is still under injury cloud. Would be suprised if he played this weekend.

Simon2 Says: 9:35 pm, July 17th, 2007

Todd - I wouldn’t care if every player in my team was under an injury cloud - if they all scored 106 every week. At the end of the day its the score that counts.

Lenny the Lamb Says: 9:55 pm, July 17th, 2007

Turtle … thanks for the Brownlow advice, but we are more interested in DT points … Now that Lenny is back up and firing on all cylinders, I think the Bartel Cartel can take a back seat

Matt Says: 10:29 pm, July 17th, 2007

Bartel is a ridicoulsy good dream tream player. i just wish that judd would hold his price so that i could wait a couple of weeks to trade judd 4 bartel. Mark, Cousins is a class player but no one can miss the amount of football he has and keep his price but when his price drops he could be a very handy pick up.

Ermi Priddis Says: 12:11 am, July 18th, 2007

Aaahh what have i started with my boy Priddis look agree with dicleo that he might not get a game hate 2 say it though but last year he played 2 games while the team was firing Fletcher, Stenglein, Judd, Kerr, Benny and Emblleeh dont care still luv him

Sav Says: 10:14 am, July 18th, 2007

yes its tru he may have played with the calibre of players u have stated but was producing more realistic scores, in any other side he would battle it is just because of west coasts depth in the midfield he gets his stats get a haircut 2 wanka

craig Says: 10:40 am, July 18th, 2007

sav ur a nob

Sydney Suck Says: 11:05 am, July 18th, 2007

I agree with PapaJ, Dal has been playing well.. just gets shafted in dreamteam. He gets tagged as closely as Judd each week and consequently, he gets Bartel next week, unless VB gets around the same score as Bartel.

Sydney Suck Says: 11:08 am, July 18th, 2007

what the? It just cut the centre out of my message :/

I have West, van Berlo, Judd, J. Selwood all around 330k. This week I will probably trade Judd for Cornes. I think I could also trade VB for Bartel. So, VB > Bartel this week or Selwood > Bartel next week more cash.

simon Says: 11:38 am, July 18th, 2007

I never said Staton was injured, I just said where can I find info about his injury. He didn’t seem to be moving quite as well as usual, but it was a hell of a lot better than a couple of weeks ago. I just wondered where the hammy injury came from - I think that’s a farce unless you can back it up.

Sav Says: 11:48 am, July 18th, 2007

craig u have no idea and u r the nob if u think priddis is good that is laughable hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

dicleo Says: 11:55 am, July 18th, 2007

Craig u must be starving for it!!!

spudley Says: 12:36 pm, July 18th, 2007

I need advice
K Cornes or jimmy Bartel

dicleo Says: 2:01 pm, July 18th, 2007

gee buckely never gets injured

turtle Says: 2:40 pm, July 18th, 2007

hey lenny the lamb - baaah baaah - i love dream team, but i also love cash - was just trying to help out a few people on here to try to win some money…

get on the chad boys - all aboard…
maybe kirk each-way, but chad with his blond hair will attract votes for sure - not to mention he’s in the top 3 players in the whole league.

anyone who didn’t have chad in their DT is a weirdo…

macca Says: 3:09 pm, July 18th, 2007

turtle, dont confuse dreamteam success which actual football success. Chad is one of those players who can score 100 but have virtually no influence of a game. That, compared to a player like Mcleod who can touch the ball 15 times and be devastating.

Brent Harvey is a Monty for the Browndog. Touches it 30 times a game and tears it apart.

turtle Says: 3:19 pm, July 18th, 2007

fair call macca - brent harvey goes alright, but he looks like a squirrel trying to get out of drain pipe.
i still think chad will take charlie home.

Timba Says: 3:22 pm, July 18th, 2007

Macca… u got it all wrong with Chad - he is a very damaging player, who can play in any role… His brother however, is a dream team only king - he is as likely to win it as ur man Brennan…

Remember too, that Chad came third a couple of years back… and he is currently ranked 2 or 3 in the Age Newspaper’s player voting…

Fair enough to say, u r wrong, and the Chad is a good fucking player… That said, i doubt he’ll win, but just watch as he comes close…

turtle Says: 3:42 pm, July 18th, 2007

thanks timba - chad is the most complete footballer of our generation… he’s beaten jonathon brown numerous times at centre half back, beaten adam goodes as a follower, and kicked 4 goals against the eagles as a key forward.

sure he may play unaccountable footy, but that’s only when he doesn’t respect the opposition - which is quite often.

i’ll be putting my hard earned on chad, and watching squirrel harvey dry himself with a towel like a good little sewer rat…

macca Says: 4:00 pm, July 18th, 2007

Fair discussion guys. Maybe im a little hard on the Chad - mainly b/c i think hes an arrogant prick.

dean Says: 4:16 pm, July 18th, 2007

would it be fair to say lads that when cousins come back in the side, rowan jones will get the boot not pridda. and i would think cousin will play a more half forward flank role as he did in past seasons so pridda will still get his 80-90 mins in the midfield?

Timba Says: 4:23 pm, July 18th, 2007

fair assumption Dean… sounds pretty plausible…

Also, thought it interesting that in one of Priddis’s two debut games brought in a score of 70… not huge, but showed he stil got a bit of the ball amongst the other big-guns… and now with a bit more experience, he should be pretty right gettin his paws on it…

George Says: 4:47 pm, July 18th, 2007

hello lads
need a bit of advice of who to put as captain,
Chad Cornes,
Brad Johnson,
Sam Mitchell,
Jordan Lewis,
Cameron Bruce, or
Gary Ablett Jnr.

BTW how far away is Scotty West??

Cheers

Ed Says: 4:50 pm, July 18th, 2007

dean - The problem with Priddis is it’s not just Cousins coming into the team. WC could have Fletcher, Stenglein, Cousins, Kerr, Nicoski and perhaps even Judd back in the midfield pretty soon. I’d expect him to drop a lot.

Hirdy Says: 5:39 pm, July 18th, 2007

George- I would get on Sam Mitchell as St Kilda will look at tagging Hodge the most. I think Mitchell will get his hands on it heaps. You would also be safe with the chad against Richmond. Bruce is also wayyyyyy to risky to put captain.

turtle Says: 6:04 pm, July 18th, 2007

go chad george, he’ll have no opponent, coz the tigers are useless…

if its a fine day, expect nothing less than 20 kicks and 12 marks, couple of goals, prob 130 DT points, and 3 brownlow votes…

if its wet, maybe look at sam mitchell.

Peter Says: 6:08 pm, July 18th, 2007

The eagles average almost 400 possessions a game. Divide that by 22 and players in their team average over 18 posessions a game. Take into account that players like Glass won’t get close to that many posessions a game, and Priddis plays midfield and get’s tackles. I don’t think he will drop as much as some people think. And I would think players like Rosa and R Jones would get dropped before him.

And on Chad Cornes, this was a description of team of the week for round 15 on the AFL website. “Chad Cornes (Port Adelaide) – One of the performances of the round came from one of the most versatile players in the game. Cornes won 31 disposals, kicked four goals – including a checkside gem – and sent the ball inside 50 on 10 occasions.” Sounds pretty damaging to me. But I could just be biased being a port supporter!

Timba Says: 6:21 pm, July 18th, 2007

George, prob would avoid mitchel… tho Hirdy pointed out that Saints will tag Hodge more… true, but the saints often use Attard as their tagger for opposition half-backers, and baker will prob be moved to Mitchell… However, baker seems to have been playing on the young guns a lot more this year, so wouldnt be too supprised if he sat on either McGlynn or Lewis instead…

Also, dont go Bruce - he’s stil very much a maybe.

BJ could be good - he scored 144 against Geelong earlier this season, and the chad is gonna be good value - although he’ll be placed on Richardson, who is celebrating 250 games, so richmond may try very hard to get him into the game…

Remember- round 16 is the first round of teams playing other teams for the second time this season - look at their scores earlier in the year for a good estimate (prob not always as good for forwards as theyre more unpredictable)

tom Says: 6:22 pm, July 18th, 2007

If the AFL website said that, then treat it with caution.

Killer K Says: 6:50 pm, July 18th, 2007

whats with the chad love in turts, sounds like his blond hair isnt just attracting the umps attention as u suggest!!

seriously though he is as versatile player as there is running around at the moment. can play on a tall, drift across and fill the hole at half back, tear a game apart with a stint in the midfield or be a damaging forward.

did i just join the love in???

baa baa lenny

Timba Says: 7:05 pm, July 18th, 2007

It says on the melbourne website that Bruce will miss this week…

Shit…

George Says: 7:14 pm, July 18th, 2007

Alright cheers, I think chad it is. Hopefully as turtle said, nothign less than 130.
Cheers

Sav Says: 7:24 pm, July 18th, 2007

yep told u boys about bruce at the start of the week my eyes dont lie haha, anyway i think he may be nursed 4 the rest of the year seeing melb have got nothing to play 4. Shatterd now cause i have bruce and judd with only 5 trades left? Oh well thats the beauty about DT

Hirdy Says: 7:34 pm, July 18th, 2007

boys am thinking of trading lloyd for steve johnson from geelong. He has the 7th highest avrage of forwards and not many people have him so i would have sure points from him. What do you guys think of that? is he good enough?

Killer K Says: 7:43 pm, July 18th, 2007

hirdy… steve johnson is gold. i picked him up as soon as he came in thinking he would pick up value after getting a rocket up him. but his average means he is a keeper now. similar story for nathan brown

Hirdy Says: 7:45 pm, July 18th, 2007

killer k is it still worthwile picking him up now? I now lloyd has the potential to kick 8 but i really need 100 from him or soon to be steve johnson and for lloyd it won’t happen against the pies.

Killer K Says: 7:51 pm, July 18th, 2007

hirdy… only if u have plenty of trades left. with the exception of 1 game lloyd has been relatively consistent. if it aint broke dont fix it

turtle Says: 8:02 pm, July 18th, 2007

hirdy - i reckon u get steve johnson for sure. he’s one of the gun half-fwds in the comp, and now he’s got discipline…

he got a rocket up his ass from bomber thompson, so u know he’s not going to stray. he averages 90 , and the cats are flying. get him - lloyd is a has-been with a dodgy hammy that could go at any time…

you’d be mad not to get him.

turtle Says: 8:09 pm, July 18th, 2007

hey peter - the eagles averaged 400 poss a game when they were winning - they’re half the side they were…

in fact, they are average. expect sydney to “squeeze” them this week - judd is gone (have to rest him for the finals - if they make it), priddis has sol-glo hair, fletcher could flat-line at any point, cousins could get back on the ice, cox could go long and deep into attack, hunter has a try-hard mo-hawk, they’re in all sorts.

and freo - wow!! at least pavlich will be leaving the biggest rabble in the history of world sport - and coming straight to the power… thanks pav.

Simon2 Says: 8:36 pm, July 18th, 2007

Simon - Your message doesn’t make sense - finish primary school and then get back on the blog.

Turtle - be careful what you say about Lloydy - he may not be the greatest point scoring machine week in week out but he is one of the all time great full forwards.

Sydney Suck Says: 8:44 pm, July 18th, 2007

I wouldn’t put Chad as my captain.. Richmond are gonna be spamming it to Richo pretty hard.. and if Chad stands him, he won’t be able to play unaccountable.

I’d go BJ. He’s a juggernaut.. lowest score this season is 80 something. If he’s not getting supply up forward, he just chucks himself into the centre.

Peter Says: 8:48 pm, July 18th, 2007

Well everyone is saying that Cousins, Kerr, Fletcher etc. will come back and that will bring down Priddis’ scores.

They are basically saying that these players will come back and play well (in turn “stealing” Priddis’ chance of posessions), which you would think means that the eagles might get back to their winning ways with 400 possys per game ie. still plenty of posessions around for Priddis.

Now your saying they won’t keep getting 400 possys per game if those players don’t play well etc. But if those players aren’t playing well, how can they “steal” posessions that Priddis would otherwise get?

Can’t be both ways.

Simon Says: 8:53 pm, July 18th, 2007

There’s a reason why you’re Simon2. You are second rate!! Read the start of the blog from start to finish and you will realise I’m questioning the validity of the Stanton injury statements. Try spelling a word over two syllables you toolbag.

Ed Says: 9:07 pm, July 18th, 2007

Peter - If you think he’s going to rise back up to $400k, hold onto him. IMO he’s not worth the $375k he’s at now and won’t hold his price.

Other players aren’t going to ’steal’ his possessions, they’ll play where Priddis was and Priddis will be moved off the ball, and maybe onto the bench. It doesn’t matter if the other players will be getting the ball or not, because Priddis won’t be around the ball to get it himself either.

Sydney Suck Says: 9:26 pm, July 18th, 2007

There’s no way Priddis is going to hold his price, IMO.

If I’d had the foresight to get him at the start of the season, he woulda been out the door as soon as the glow of the 166 disappeared.

Seriously, if you have the trades, I can’t see any reason why anybody would hold onto Priddis right now. Being completely objective, I agree with Ed.

Todd Says: 9:34 pm, July 18th, 2007

With players like Kane Cornes at 359k you honestly would be stupid to keep him now. Can i ask did anyone pick him up at the start of the year?

Socs Says: 9:45 pm, July 18th, 2007

Boys boys boys all this talk about the eagles and priddis, He is a makeshift midfielder keeping the spot warm for guys like judd, kerr, cousins, stenglein, embley, fletcher, oh and with the vast improvement of young matt rosa and even at his very best michael braun, Their is no room for priddis, he is no where near the calibre of these players, Maybe delisted in the not too distant future give him 2-3 years and he will be gone

Hirdy Says: 9:50 pm, July 18th, 2007

Socs i totaly agree with what you said but with judd on ice this year and cousins literally on ice he still has his job to do. Wouldnt be my first pick next year though.

Simon2 Says: 9:52 pm, July 18th, 2007

Wow you’re up late for a little boy Simon. Fat Cat went to bed ages ago - Is Mummy out drinking again. I don’t have time to read all your dribble from start to finish. You should show the blog to your primary school teacher - i bet she would be impressed with your use of such big words.

Todd you seem to be speaking some sense today - K. cornes is a gun and a great pick up for that money, especially in DT. Over each month of footy he is very consistent. Down a bit sometimes because he gets run with roles. His brother is a bit of knob - but a scoring machine especially up forward this year where pickings are a bit lean.

Peter Says: 9:57 pm, July 18th, 2007

I don’t have Priddis, so it doesn’t bother me either way. If I did have him, I would have traded him as soon as he hit 400K for a known DT gun.

It doesn’t matter if he gets moved, or spends a bit of time on the bench. The point still stands that the eagles average 400 posessions a game, and Judd, Kerr, Cousins and Fletcher certainly don’t make up 395 of those posessions.

As I said above, “I don’t think he will drop as much as some people think.” That’s the only point I’m making. If you are looking at trading Priddis now, either you must have alot of trades left, you must have a pretty good team and don’t have anyone else you need to upgrade before him, or you are a bit silly IMO.

Just thought it was interesting how some people just jump on the bag-a-player bandwagon without thinking about it.

Maxie Says: 10:21 pm, July 18th, 2007

On the Chad, he wouldn’t pick up Richo. He’s too valuable for port to sacrifice. Power would put one of their big backmen on richo, like thurstans, wakelin, or chaplin.

I think kane cornes will be on kane johnson.

Ermi Priddis Says: 11:01 pm, July 18th, 2007

Still on Priddis r we so i had him from the start before everyone jumped on the bandwagon and got Foley instead geez good player NOOOTTT!! um got Judd and Bruce soo yeah

stants Says: 11:22 pm, July 18th, 2007

stanton is in the team this week he is fine for everyone that has him

simon Says: 9:33 am, July 19th, 2007

Big chance Kane Cornes will stand Foley this week. As Kane Johnson is Richmond’s main tagger, I wouldn’t be surprised if he picked up Chad, but he may go with Burger. Chad won’t go with Richo - in the press in SA Williams said he’d give Alipate, Pettigrew or Chaplin a go first (learning curve).

Killer K Says: 11:12 am, July 19th, 2007

yep, the chad is too much of a playmaker for the coach to play him as a true full back. pettigrew will play on him for mine leaving chad to float and rack up another 130.

Timba Says: 11:30 am, July 19th, 2007

I am another whos had Priddis from round 1, but now dunno wat to do with him…

And also have cam bruce, but am feeling doubtful as to how much he can provide my midfield anymore….

I am currently top of my league, have 22,000 in the bank and 2 trades left…

The question is: who should i trade, if any…

Btw, Midfield currently reads:
Bartel, Bruce, Priddis, Dal Santo, Malceski, Goodwin. em: Morton, Gibbs

And i have regularly playing emergency in each position - but only one’s good enough to hold up 4 a couple of weeks (JW Smith/Ellis, Morton/Gibbs, Warnock/Griffin, Harbrow/Reid)

Cheers guys

stick Says: 11:48 am, July 19th, 2007

Is Bryce Gibbs injured? I might need him this week if C.Bruce is to miss again. I thought I heard Gibbs might be in doubt this week?

Sav Says: 11:57 am, July 19th, 2007

Ermi u know Foley is much betta then Priddis haha. He is gonna be an absolute star he is hard in and under ranks high in centre clearances and gets tagged already sumthing priddis will never have 2 live with. Foley i believe reminds me of a young sam mitchell,

Saverio Says: 11:58 am, July 19th, 2007

so what does everyone reckon, trade judd?
i have 5 trades left and $25K, and much like the AFL this year, positions 3-10 are very even.

Warnie Says: 12:49 pm, July 19th, 2007

Hey all - if u havent seen it yet - DT Talk Episode 6 is online now… it features a couple of AFL Players this week! haha… one massive FAN FAVOURITE!

Sticks Says: 12:50 pm, July 19th, 2007

Just thought i would chuck a mention to Jake King considering ive never seen him written about and yet ive seen heaps on Selwood. and both are so similar. Jake King would be one of my best pick ups for the yr for a player who cost me 69,000 to be averaging 77 and now pushing the $300,000 mark is awesome. might be able to go the straight swap for Bartel in the next couple of weeks

Killer K Says: 1:27 pm, July 19th, 2007

buckley is a bargain too, pick him up! weirdo

Blozza Says: 1:34 pm, July 19th, 2007

Very funny turtle… I think you should put Nathan Buckley as captain this week coz I’m sure you’ve got him in your team as well.

As for Jake King… I’m glad someone mentioned him. I also picked him up from the start and I think it’s the best DT move I’ve ever made. He has averaged 88 over the last 9 weeks which is bloody good for someone who cost me 69K. Keep him in your side. Richmond have the ball in their backline about 80% of the game coz they are so crap and Jake King is always there to mop up.

stick Says: 1:45 pm, July 19th, 2007

Any word on the fitness of Gibbs (CarL) ? And can anyone tell me where I might be able to find out what Scotty Wests Break even score will be in his next game ?

Wondering whether I get him now or wait aweek or 2?

assassin Says: 2:24 pm, July 19th, 2007

my team averages 1245, and i’m thinking about winning the weekly award one day. any tips?? i’m only new to this country - they dont play afl in pakistan - they just blow shit up - how many points do i need to win the $100,000 weekly??

PermsPanthas Says: 3:06 pm, July 19th, 2007

Turtle, Assassins, Killer K’s - get back into the coaches box …. u r letting out too many secrets …. Assassins u shouldn’t communicate through public websites u will get yourself caught - I wonder when FanFooty will want to start interviewing coaches from outside the eliteDT group … they are tanking as a league…

Sydney Suck Says: 3:21 pm, July 19th, 2007

Scott West will go down, if he plays this week.

Wait at least another week, though he’ll probably drop in value two weeks in a row.

simon Says: 3:36 pm, July 19th, 2007

Prestigiacomo on Perrie. That would bring the punters through the gate. Bit like Carey and Jakovich in the ninties

balky Says: 4:45 pm, July 19th, 2007

Need advice, my rucks are cox, everitt, hudson, leunberger. Is it time to offload hudson for a rookie to make some cash to upgrade or should i wait a bit longer. i want to pick up either bartel, k cornes or lockyer in the next couple of weeks. I have 6 trades left.

Timba Says: 4:53 pm, July 19th, 2007

Balky, sounds like a good idea… its doubtful that many of the rookie rucks will be given a run, tho id prob reccomend Spaandermann from WCE - he’s a bit older, and has shown good WAFL form… can also play in the forward line, so could be recalled to play there rather than ruck - cos lets face it - Cox and Seaby r too good atm…

Also, does anyone have any advice for my situation regarding Bruce and Priddis?? See above…

Hirdy Says: 6:21 pm, July 19th, 2007

I found out what trades i will do this week. Im gonna down grade Sandilands to Jolly who has a nice 68 average, and trade lloyd for either chapman or Gary Ablett. I am stronly looking at ablett though.

Scotty Says: 6:37 pm, July 19th, 2007

Balky get ivan marik he avg is 65 and is only worth 134 and is going to go up tons this week and u would have tons left to buy 1 of the 3 u wonted. Spaandermann isn’t going to get a game in the afl

Dean Says: 6:47 pm, July 19th, 2007

does anyone think jimmy bartel has done his run?? who do you guys think is the best upgrade target for priddis, got 410k to spend…

Peter Says: 7:05 pm, July 19th, 2007

i think most expect jim to get back to his old sparkling ways this week, why wouldnt he? sandi is out, is he worth a trade?

Dean Says: 7:29 pm, July 19th, 2007

who is the better DT player lads? Bartel, KCornes, Hayes, Scott Thompson, or Carrazzo…this season i would say bartel hands down..any thoughts?

tom Says: 7:44 pm, July 19th, 2007

Cam Bruce is not selected this week…

Better DT on results is Bartel, on value is Kane Cornes

Simon2 Says: 8:44 pm, July 19th, 2007

Simon - very insisive comments - either you’re getting your Dad to write for you (if you know who that is) or your not the little boy I thought you were. Must be a raging homo!
My thoughts on captains this week - either of the Cornes Boys or big J Brown (if you have had to hang onto him all year like me). If not would be worth a look at picking up. My tip is that he will have a big finish to the season.

Maxie Says: 8:48 pm, July 19th, 2007

Who should I trade judd to - bartel or hayes (or some1 else - i have k.cornes, dal santo, watson, s.burgoyne, swan)?

damo Says: 8:54 pm, July 19th, 2007

hey ive got 3 trades left and i was thinking of using a cash cow cleve hughes to trade sandilands and buy Fraser.. Im in 2nd position but sandilands is costing me big time. Do you think its worth the trade to leave me only 1 left for the finals? My other ruck is White

Booth Says: 10:51 pm, July 19th, 2007

get bartel maxie,

save ya trades damo, as long as u make top 4 doesn’t matter about winning at the moment…. u don’t want to get an injury b4 an elimination final n have no trades to cover it
