Talking Points: round 14

by dreamteamhero.com.au | July 9th, 2007 | Comments : [142] | Categories: Talking Points.

Player of the week: Paul Chapman (153). This score included a massive 64-point final quarter – exactly the sort of application Dream Team coaches love to see; as the Bombers’ body count piled up, Chapman was the man who plundered more than any other. If you’re thinking of getting him, move fast; his price is now $362k, and he has a breakeven of just 26

Honourable mentions: Tyson Edwards (152), Scott Thompson (146), Matthew Boyd (146), Domenic Cassisi (140), Kade Simpson (134), Matthew Richardson (127), Dane Swan (126)

Biggest disappointment: Leigh Montagna (48). The little bloke had an off day against the Pies in the wet – 13 touches, one mark. Not cool, especially considering three recent scores of 120+. The impact on his price is already being felt, with an 8k drop to $386k. Beware – next week’s breakeven is 155.

Other points of interest:

- I mentioned the body count above. It is by no means extended to Essendon – Scott West scored 29, Andrew Embley scored 37, Brett Deledio scored 36 and Cameron Bruce was a late withdrawal – all due to injuries. Alwyn Davey’s Dream Team season is over – although his recent good form means his price has risen nicely just before the injury, allowing Dream Teamers to extract maximum value from their cash cow. Not so positive for Ricky Petterd – at least the kid is ok – however, his score of just 4 is not good for his price. The good news is that injuries heal; Chris Judd returned to Dream Team 100 land, causing simultaneous sighs of relief across the nation, and Daniel Kerr also scored a ton for the first time in a while (although may miss through suspension)

- After stunning form all season, some blue-chip guns are starting to sink in price. Kornes is down to $377k this week, with much further left to go; his breakeven is 207. Jimmy Bartel is another with a double-ton breakeven; his scrappy 83 on Friday night showed he’s not injured, but will prove excellent value in coming weeks as his price slumps. He’s currently at $398k. Heath Scotland is the third gun to suffer – he scored just 56 against Melbourne, shooting him down 26k to be at $328k. That’s verrry enticing

- Brock McLean is another on the way down – but he’s nowhere near as attractive, despite a lower price. McLean is at $284k after scoring just 50 against the Blues

- Commentators were widely positive about Barry Hall’s game against Freo on Sunday – where he scored just 51 – and then I read this article this morning saying it’s typical of where he’ll be for the rest of the year. Ouch:

“What we saw from him today is probably what we are going to get from him for the rest of the year,” Roos said… “we will rotate him on and off the ground a fair bit.”

- Xavier Ellis had a good night against the Crows, scoring 81 – his best this year. Shane Crawford also had a good match, scoring 116; it’s his third ton in a row

- Travis Boak out-did Ellis, scoring 88 in his third game for the Power. Boak racked up 23 possessions and eight marks; he’s a ball-winner, all right

- Justin Koschitzke took the field a week after sustaining a two- to three-week hamstring injury, but he needn’t have bothered for Dream Team purposes. A disappointing game yielded just 41 points

YES! First post…

Onya Chappy - great game.

Any news on Westy’s or Bruce’s injuries???

Gideon Says: 5:20 pm, July 9th, 2007

Your a nerd - You’ve been waiting all day. get a job!!! :)

Jimmy Says: 5:35 pm, July 9th, 2007

Your interview with Skooks during the week must have put the young kid off Monty… A score of just 1875 will annoy him

Jeraldo Says: 5:35 pm, July 9th, 2007

whats the status on embley?

Jim Says: 5:43 pm, July 9th, 2007

traded petterd for marty clarke last week - turned out to be perfect timing! Kerr out for one, even if he takes an early plea.

Ed Says: 5:52 pm, July 9th, 2007

West said he’s a chance to play this week but reports say he’s doubtful and will probably have a weeks rest.

Anthony Says: 6:28 pm, July 9th, 2007

Does anyone know how long Petterd is out for. His injury sounded pretty serious, almost dieing and all. My teams so crap that he isn’t just a cash cow but a starting 22 so I kinda need him.

Anthony Says: 6:31 pm, July 9th, 2007

Forgot to mention, also have to trade off alwyn davey, got 83 grand in the bank, any tips. I was thinking of making another 50 grand trading him for Gray or Westoff or should I get a 300k forward?

Boak can cover pettered.

Peter Says: 8:12 pm, July 9th, 2007

Gray was a late withdrawal… West will have a fitness test apparently but is unlikely to get up against the dons and may even miss 2. no idea on bruce tho, just glad i don’t have him :D

STRAYA Says: 8:13 pm, July 9th, 2007

Gideon - I think you are the nerd. You spend all day discussing DT and where has it got you? - 18,620 overall and a spot out of the 8 in the Miracle Mile.

Plus I have a job - I just have a lot of spare time on my hands also.

Go Team STRAYA - 9.40 game tonight at Willo…

Timba Says: 8:19 pm, July 9th, 2007

After all the worries this week with possible late withdrawals, i had no idea who to make captain, so went with my ever-reliable Cameron Bruce!!

And he turned out to be my only player not to play… Thank christ my oposition had West as Captain and i was able to scrape a win…

ian Says: 9:38 pm, July 9th, 2007

yeah, also had bruce as captain, rlly pissed off - any word on when he’ll be back b/c after scannign the newspapers i found nothing..?

Brayden Says: 10:17 pm, July 9th, 2007

Bloody West and Davey hurts. Alot. With minimal trades. I got Selwood ready replace West but what about my forward line, looking forward to Fev’s return for sure.

Todd Says: 12:26 am, July 10th, 2007

Brayden- You had selwood on your bench? Whats your midfield?

simon Says: 8:14 am, July 10th, 2007

Any news on Chris Judd. Nothing on injury posts or anything. Apparently he was obviously limping at the end of the game. If he’s not officially injured, it is surely oesto isn’t it?

Muzza Says: 9:10 am, July 10th, 2007

Not looking good for my dreamteam this week, with a lot of injuries and suspensions. Does anyone know how long winderlich is out for???

simon Says: 9:18 am, July 10th, 2007

Winderlich for another 1-2 weeks. It is a recurring hamstring injury though, so you may want to be wary

jbomb Says: 9:36 am, July 10th, 2007

everyone wants to know who to trade davey for! with 130k in the bank and only 4 trades left i must tread cautiously.
forward line consists of:
pav , b johnson , g ablett , franklin , okeefe , davey
with westhoff and jericho on bench
can someone point me in the right direction with brett burton… is he a no-go zone?

Tom Says: 9:57 am, July 10th, 2007

Regarding Judd: this is in today’s Australian newspaper:

“The Eagles could also again be without captain Chris Judd… who spent yesterday’s session at Subiaco Oval jogging and walking laps of the ground.”

By the way guys, the reason I’m cutting back on posts at the moment (only Talking Points) is because I’m starting up a new website with heaps of DT content; currently looking for writers. If you’re keen, post it here and I’ll contact you that way

Timba Says: 10:52 am, July 10th, 2007

Tom: was there anything in that newspaper about the fate of Bruce??

TJ Squad Says: 11:45 am, July 10th, 2007

How good is Dean Cox!!!

Picked him up 4 weeks ago and he has not let me down.

Makes picking a captain very easy now.

Blozza Says: 11:48 am, July 10th, 2007

For those who need a cheap forward… Strongly consider Michael Newton (Melb). He got more game time on Sunday and was impressive and with Neitz and Yze out, he will hold his spot. The new Melbourne coach likes this kid and has adopted a youth policy for the team. He’ll rise in value next week with a BE of -45.

Stay away from Brett Burton. He’s always missing games due to injury. Buy Newton and keep your money for the finals.

Blozza Says: 11:50 am, July 10th, 2007

News just in…

TJ likes Cox!

simon Says: 12:05 pm, July 10th, 2007

Tom - I would be interested in being a writer for your new website.

macca Says: 12:26 pm, July 10th, 2007

Cameron Bruce - Hamstring soreness - Test

PapaJ Says: 12:37 pm, July 10th, 2007

Re: Judd, I can say that this isn’t a groin injury that is going to go away easily. If Kerr and Cousins were available then I think he wouldn’t play for sure. I’m stuck with him myself, but other DT should be aware that the news is that he is going to be a week by week prospect for a while. On the positive side, he is probably one of the best players at playing with niggly injury.

As for Cox, he has been so good since getting over early season injury. So wish I had him. Also Worsfold is using him as a ‘behind the ball’ link player more than ever, the sort of position that picks up loads of DT stats.

Question: I saw some of Carlton game and noticed Gibbs coming off injured - looked relatively minor. Does anybody know the situation with him following the game?

Blozza Says: 1:09 pm, July 10th, 2007

Gibbs strained his ankle in the second quarter but played out the game. The paper says ‘test’ but seen as though he played another half after the incident you would think he will play next week.

Tom Says: 1:18 pm, July 10th, 2007

If the Blues don’t watch themselves Gibbs will start to develop the sort of consistent injuries that Luke Ball is suffering…

(Joel) Selwood has only played 11 games this year - he’s being rested wisely. Gibbs is a full year younger than Selwood and less solidly built, yet has played every game. He’s only topped 60 once since round 3.

Anthony Says: 1:31 pm, July 10th, 2007

Guys, Davey is in my starting 22 and I need to trade him as my emergencies (Jericho and ACampbell) don’t play. I’ve got 80 grand in the bank, any tips?

simon Says: 1:35 pm, July 10th, 2007

Gibbs also played two senior years of footy in the SANFL. He might actually need a run in the VFL for some confidence - to be able to actually get his hands on the ball.

Blozza Says: 2:04 pm, July 10th, 2007

Anthony…

Read above what I said about Michael Newton (Melb). He’s your best forward option at a low price who will keep getting games.

Peter Says: 2:06 pm, July 10th, 2007

He has been stuffed into the back pocket every week. He is hardly being given a chance to get his hands on the ball and really use his skills.

Blozza Says: 2:06 pm, July 10th, 2007

Keep your money for the finals and upgrade your players then… Don’t be tempted now unless you’re trying to make the finals.

jbomb Says: 2:23 pm, July 10th, 2007

blozza
i agree with your statement however am a little confused about the situation seeing as most DT coaches will need to replace davey for a starting forward and certain forwards like ricutto, burton and newton are currently cheap why wouldnt they upgrade now?

jbomb Says: 2:28 pm, July 10th, 2007

what i am trying to say is what difference does it make upgrading davey now rather than later especially for those DT coaches with weak or no emergencies

Ed Says: 2:40 pm, July 10th, 2007

The reason you wouldn’t upgrade now would be in case of further injuries. If you replaced Davey with say Burton, and then Burton did his knee or something you’ve wasted a trade. The only reason you should be making trades now is to get a bargain (like Bartel in 2 weeks time). That is unless you have decent amount of trades left.

dicleo Says: 2:49 pm, July 10th, 2007

I would easily be a writer a Tod that would be great. I could write all day about dreamteam

jbomb Says: 2:56 pm, July 10th, 2007

wise ed
thank you
alles klar!
bring on bartal AND scotland in a couple of weeks times!

TJ Squad Says: 4:27 pm, July 10th, 2007

I have 3 fav players.

Swallow, Black, Cox

PapaJ Says: 4:38 pm, July 10th, 2007

jbomb, I’m a newbie so this wisdom is probably flawed, but I’m with you. I only had three trades left, but desperately needed a defender with very little cash. Shaw was bargain priced and I didn’t see the point of waiting. He may get injured, but I was playing with no bench and two starters in doubt. I will probably make the finals but I still didn’t see the point on missing a bargain in a position where I needed help.

Speaking of bargains, watch for Kennelly who is going to be really cheap in a week or two. His score of 70 had more to do with conditions that didn’t suit his style than any fitness concerns from what I saw of the game. I’m sure his knee isn’t 100%, but the price is going to be right for those with trades in the bank.

Anthony Says: 4:53 pm, July 10th, 2007

Kennelly is a star who was ripping it up before his injuries. Get him when his price falls a bit. If I had to trades I’d be trading Adcock for him in a couple of weeks.

Adam Says: 6:38 pm, July 10th, 2007

Bit away from other threads on here, but does anyone know when the first prize is awarded in the main dreamteam competition (eg the $50K prize) Is it in 4 weeks time or do they keep going all the way until round 22? I’m not really in with much of a chance (coming 110th or so) but i have 6 trades left and $300K and have the option of sitting tight with trades to win my private league vs upgrading to try and shake the title

Johnny Says: 6:48 pm, July 10th, 2007

hey guys. any news on Aaron Edwards? he seems to have just disappeared

Tom N Says: 6:49 pm, July 10th, 2007

They’ll determine the winner after round 22, Adam, but by jingoes you’re still in with a very good shot.

Six trades left is more than plenty of others ahead of you, I reckon, but there’ll be smokies back in the pack that will start to shoot up from now on.

You’ll need to upgrade to “shake the title”, as you put it, but it’s probably a less immediate need than you think. I’d save those trades for serious injuries and hope you have a good run.

Congrats on your performance to date! Keep us posted on your progress (this also goes for anyone else in the top 200)

Adam Says: 7:21 pm, July 10th, 2007

Will do Tom

Hirdy Says: 9:00 pm, July 10th, 2007

Boys i have plenty of trades and 31k in the bank. I want to trade adam cooney hoo is 363k at the moment. I can afford an but i already have Bartel. I am lloking at Swan hoo is an absolute ball magnet. Should i take him or somebody else?

damo Says: 9:13 pm, July 10th, 2007

i have 4 trades left. I’m thinking of trading buddy for dale thomas and bartel for james mcdonald. any ideas on those trades?

Ed Says: 9:42 pm, July 10th, 2007

Hirdy - Swan gets some really good scores but then goes missing some weeks, so he’s not super consistant but can give you some big points. Do you have Goodwin or Kane Cornes? Goodwin has had injury problems and Kane Cornes is about to have a massive drop this round so be a little wary. James McDonald could be someone else to look at.

damo - Are you talking about trading in Buddy and Bartel into your team? If so, Bartel yes, Buddy no. Bartel is the DT player of the year so far. Buddy is too inconsistant and last weeks score of 26 shows that.

Tom Says: 7:51 am, July 11th, 2007

Yesterday’s mX referred to Geelong’s TROY Selwood being a good chance for the Rising Star. Ooops!

dicleo Says: 11:03 am, July 11th, 2007

Can someone tell me if the top 4 finishes in your dreateam league get a double chance or is it only the top 2?

dicleo Says: 11:06 am, July 11th, 2007

damo i dont know why u would ewven consider getting rid of bartel, he is scoring the best in the league, and is capable of nearly 200, what a champion.

Sav Says: 11:23 am, July 11th, 2007

dicleo u r 2 funny mate told ya top 4 get the double chance lol anyway back2 business this week apologies to all those with kerr such a shame his out. Any news on Bruce? unlucky also to amature coaches who put him captain against the blues… and finally if kosi is gonna play injured 4 the rest of the year i think the porice is right to get rid of him.

Troy Says: 11:27 am, July 11th, 2007

Tom,

I’ve been interested for a while in writing some articles on FF. I’ve been running my own comp for years and been doing the Herald sun for the last 2. Just dont have the time to start my own website. Would like to discuss. PLease email me for more info

RK Says: 11:34 am, July 11th, 2007

I want to upgrade Franklin. It’s past time; unfortunately my trade plans all got delayed when I didn’t have computer access a couple of weeks ago on a Friday afternoon (and I got stuck with Koschitzke and Hall still on the field). I got rid of Hall last week but still need to bounce Franklin. The rest of my forwards are:

BJ, Garry Ablett Jr, Pav, Tarrant, Jonathan Brown, Nathan G Brown (and C Cornes is in the backline, so can’t bring him in).

I have about 160k available for the upgrade, PLUS I need to drop Petterd anyway (however, I wouldn’t mind a fair amount of cash to upgrade someone like Kosi or Hunter next week).

Chapman is the obvious choice, but also the most expensive. Is there anyone more cost-effective I could be getting?

dicleo Says: 11:40 am, July 11th, 2007

yeah RK get J Brennan, good chance for the brownlow

Hirdy Says: 12:29 pm, July 11th, 2007

Dicleo, I am moor likely to get the brownlow then J Brennan.

RK, What about lucas? Cheap and can easily score 100’s. Had a terrible game against Geelong and still managed 71. You will then have plenty of money to upgrade who ever you want.

Mike Says: 12:50 pm, July 11th, 2007

Tom
Have been doing heraldsun and Afl fan footy for about 3 years now. Keen to have a go at writing a few articles.
Would love for you to get in touch
Mike

dicleo Says: 12:59 pm, July 11th, 2007

Hirdy im only jokin, i reckon Brennan is the most terrible player in the league, everytime he gets the ball i just pray for him to stuff it up and most of the time he does that. he is so shit, shame on u leigh matthews for givin the spastic a game

macca Says: 1:43 pm, July 11th, 2007

Dicleo you are living up to your name.

Brennan was a massive reason why Brisbane caused the upset of the decade last weekend.

He is a talent - in saying that, i wouldnt be including him in any dreamteams…

dicleo Says: 2:08 pm, July 11th, 2007

i thought dreamteam is the only thing that matters, who cares about the real result.i go for essendon but do u think i wasn’t happy when Bartel , Corey and Milburn touched it. Absolutley not i was cheering them on. One thing i will say is all those fake dreamteam coaches who base their side on averages got punished for picking up brennan this year, he is no talent he is a dope, even the commentators get scared when he touches it cos they say it could go anywhere and it usually does, he is not talented just extremely lucky sometimes MACCA

Jordox Says: 3:29 pm, July 11th, 2007

geez dicleo, for someone who just said dreamteam is all that matters, you seem to care about where brennans kicks go a bit much. All that matters is he gets the kicks!!
i had him at the start and he got me a couple of 100 scores early then he went to shit. He’s looking better these days tho, wish i still had him.
To say he is not talented is stupid. The guys chock full of it, he’s just gotta sort himself out first, find the right positioning.

macca Says: 3:31 pm, July 11th, 2007

I agree dreamteam is the only thing that matters, which is why I am saying not to comment on his ability as a player.

Ill tell you one thing, i could name about 10 essendon players that he is better than. Jay Nash hahahah, Ricky Dyson hahahaha, Courtney Johns haahahah etc….

dicleo Says: 3:48 pm, July 11th, 2007

hey macca whats ur dreamteam ranking????? i bet its worse than mine hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah…..maggot

macca Says: 4:39 pm, July 11th, 2007

oh dicleo, if only you knew….

good luck with your dreamteam, im sure it is going wonderfully.

zoidberg's penis Says: 8:16 pm, July 11th, 2007

I thought I was addicted to DreamTeam. But, holy shit, you guys take the cake.

Sex.

Alex Says: 8:39 pm, July 11th, 2007

TJ, your fave players a quite similar to mine, but I prefer:

Swallow, white, cox.

Haydos Says: 8:53 pm, July 11th, 2007

Hey Tom id be more than interested in writing for your website

Contact me via email
I can even show you a preview (apost i had before the season on up and coming players)

edo Says: 10:38 pm, July 11th, 2007

i need to trade deledio cos hes got a busted hand

im looking for a cheap but good of course midfeilder
so i can then upgrade davey whos also busted up

help1

Sydney Suck Says: 10:59 pm, July 11th, 2007

Simon Black is very cheap at the moment - around 270k from memory. He’s a star.

Todd Says: 11:11 pm, July 11th, 2007

Alex your 3 favourite players in that order spell out a very interesting sentance in that order. Fell free to read it.

Ed Says: 11:18 pm, July 11th, 2007

edo - Reilly at a bit over $230k is a pretty good player but he’s been plagued by injuries this year so he’s a risk. How cheap do you want to go?

Al Says: 12:47 am, July 12th, 2007

yeh i agree, Reilly would be a great pickup now. He was going along nicely before he was injured.

Stevo Says: 2:17 am, July 12th, 2007

Gotta upgrade hadley to a better mid. Got 299k for it. Reckon i should go spend it all and get lewis or save a bit of change and get black. Or is there someone else i should look at.

Socs Says: 2:29 am, July 12th, 2007

i totally agree with dicleo on this occasion sorry macca you have no idea what dream team is all about jarrod brennean is an absolute maggot of a player he stuffs the ball up more times than any other player in the brisbane line up check clangers if you dont believe me, also that us very expierienced dream team campaigners no the difference between genuine fantasy potential and plain old sh!t, oh and if you think my team is no good just look for MEUDAVENKYLE ull know wat im talking about

dicleo Says: 7:59 am, July 12th, 2007

Well done Theio Toe if these blokes just take a look at our league ranked 18th they will see the brilliance of our teams, i can’t believe they think he has talent. We must ask Theio EG for his opinion since Brennan is his best mate

macca Says: 9:09 am, July 12th, 2007

Hahahaha. you all talk such sh*t. its quite amazing.

FYI - my league is ranked third

good luck hacks!

dicleo Says: 9:39 am, July 12th, 2007

well macca whats ur team nameso i can see how good ur team is???

Sav Says: 10:27 am, July 12th, 2007

Boys its quite amazing that our league is ranked 18 we have sum people who average 1500 and r terrible players so if we just had our own teams we would be breakin all sorts of records…

Blozza Says: 11:02 am, July 12th, 2007

I’m thinking of getting rid of Ben Hudson or Darcy for Chad Jones (eagles) to gain money. What do you think? I have Darcy and Hudson sitting on the bench and I think they are too valuable wasted their. Which one should I sell and do you think Jones will keep playing? If he plays this week his price will rise but I hopefully will never need to use him. Cox and White are my other two ruckman.

Blozza Says: 11:05 am, July 12th, 2007

Also… Who rates Travis Boak for Port? Is it worth selling Gibbs for him to free up some more money. I have 7 trades left and $260k and want another 3 guns in my side before the finals.

Hirdy Says: 11:07 am, July 12th, 2007

Gee Blozza you dont need such good ruck reserves. Darcy will play every week and so will hudson. If i was in your situatuion i would sell Hudson because like last week Darcy has the ability to get 100’s unlike hudson who averages about 65.

Ed Says: 12:10 pm, July 12th, 2007

Blozza - What Hirdy said. You hardly need one ruck reserve let alone two. Hudson looks like he’s about to peak so trading him now will get you close to top dollars. Consider trading him for a rookie to get an extra few k.

Peter Says: 12:21 pm, July 12th, 2007

In SC… i have lost winderlich, pettard and delids to injury - delids is the best value at 411k, which centre should i get for him (overall i have 423k to spend)? Ling, Boyd, Embley, Kadey Simpson are my better options… Any ideas?

raul Says: 12:25 pm, July 12th, 2007

in real truble..

need some idea to hoo i shall put my captain all opinions r appreciated..

nigel lappin
chad conres
gary ablett
chappy
pavlich

Blozza Says: 12:34 pm, July 12th, 2007

Peter:

Kade Simpson is a mate of mine and was playing with an injury for the first half of the season. He is 100% now and will do well like last week. I’m not trying to drop names or anything… If I was I would say I know Judd or Pavlich but I don’t. I have Simpson in my team now… He’s a good bloke.

Raul… You gotta put Pav as captain this week. At home against the Roos. He will dominate.

Todd Says: 12:35 pm, July 12th, 2007

Suddenly the blogs have been filled with captain help. Matt Pav Is at home in subi against Kangas. He could be tagged but at home he will cruise hom for 110. Lappin is in rare form and should continue this against Melbourne. Gary Ablett is also a good choice along with chapman. I dont know how well cornes will go against WCE so i wouldnt risk it. I would choose Pavlas or Lappin but the choise is yours..

raul Says: 12:41 pm, July 12th, 2007

thanks guys..

but the only thing is that melbourne domnt really have a tagger,.. so if they decide to tag black willg et the tag as he is the best midfielder whoich leaves lappin as the go to man.

howver,. i predict that the roos will float men back infront of pavlich. they do ahve leigh brown and i am sure petrie or someone will come and help down back.

and now doubt that collingwqood st kilda will be a cracker. however i believe scotyy burn sor licuria wil tag ablet but a player of his class shood b able to break the twag

i am gona go wid lappin coz at the end of the day midfielders r more relikable

Ed Says: 1:15 pm, July 12th, 2007

Melbourne use Godfrey (I think) to tag and he’s effective, but like you said they’d tag Black before Lappin. Lappin gets a lot of loose balls in defence too and isn’t so damaging so he doesn’t attract as much attention.

Any word about Gablett and his flu?

raul Says: 1:39 pm, July 12th, 2007

i just thought of the best captain

a bit riskty but ive had this guy from the start n he is a genuine superstar

Sav Says: 1:41 pm, July 12th, 2007

Raul wateva u do don not put PAV captain although he is a star at home and against a spirited side like the roos he may not perform to his max he is the MCG specialist which we all know. i am putting chad cornes captain i luv puttin my captqain against the eagles because they play unaccountable football and worry about gettin the ball themselves lol rch mate only 1 day 2 go cant wait wooooooo

dicleo Says: 1:49 pm, July 12th, 2007

Arch that is the best thing to do great idea theio, then we can punish this malak.and Savizza i dont think i have ever seen an eagle man up on anyone, i think Cox will be scoring 150 this week and Chadley will take 20 marks no doubt. Im goin spastic i need my fantasy kick now. F__k i wish it started tonight. It is by far the best thing, whoever created this competition is god

maxjg Says: 3:13 pm, July 12th, 2007

and bartel 4 captain or not?

jimmy Says: 3:23 pm, July 12th, 2007

west will miss 1 or 2.

Malceski is a gun. In my opinion he is in the top 3 at sydney.

I wouldnt do Bartel as captain this week - give him one more

Gideon Says: 3:29 pm, July 12th, 2007

I’d say Gablett is almost a certainity to play. The Geelong Advertiser reckons it was more of a week off, then a problem with the flu

Deano Says: 3:30 pm, July 12th, 2007

hey guys, does anyone have any news on jericho? will he play again in 2007??
the reason why i am asking is because im thinking of trading him for newton (will he play much more in 2007?) and upgrading davey who is in my 22 for someone like lucas or okeefe. i only have 6 trades left, play the next 4 teams i play are all in the bottom half of the 8, and currently sit 2nd,1 game behind top place. is it worth keeping trades up my sleeve, or taking the opportunity of picking up lucas at near bottom value??? any advice would help this novice DT’r who wants to win his league!

Fred Says: 3:41 pm, July 12th, 2007

Who should I trade Alwyn Davey for? I have $15,500 in the bank. Any ideas?

Titans Says: 3:42 pm, July 12th, 2007

How many trades should I have at the start of finals?

Gideon Says: 4:14 pm, July 12th, 2007

Newton should get a few games towards the end of the year (but wont average much over 50 methinks). Lucas now would be a good pickup. Probably worth it. As long as you can go into finals with 3-4 trades and make the top 4 - I say go for it.

maxjg Says: 4:17 pm, July 12th, 2007

should i put carrazo as skipper?
he is a ball magnet!

Plan F Says: 4:28 pm, July 12th, 2007

Why don’t some of you read the blog before posting the same questions over and over again….HOW MANY TRADES DO I NEED FOR FINALS?? SHOULD I TRADE NOW OR LATER? why dont you look at your team if it sucks then make some trades, if its going well then save your trades. Use your brains for once.

DT God Says: 4:44 pm, July 12th, 2007

Plan F. I need some advice. I only have 4 trades left. Should I trade ALwyn Davey now or hold onto him in the hope he makes a return in the next couple of weeks? I am coming 16th in my league at the moment, but am still a good chance to play finals as I am only a few games outside the 8. Should I use my trades now, or do I need to hang on to them for if I make the top 8??

Top 100 Says: 4:51 pm, July 12th, 2007

I also need some advice Plan F. Do you think i should get rid of Scott West? I have 3 trades left. If so - who should i get rid of him for? Is 2 trades enough for the rest of the season?

maxjg Says: 4:52 pm, July 12th, 2007

carrazo as skipper?

Plan F Says: 4:55 pm, July 12th, 2007

They are playing Sydney at the SCG what do you think??? So maybe look else where.

DT God Says: 5:13 pm, July 12th, 2007

I am thinking of Picking up Scott West this week. I think that he will play and will carve up because the opposition team won’t realse he’s actually playing until he shows up!!

BTW Rumour has it that Daniel Kerr will receive a late reprieve from the tribunal!

hirdy Says: 6:12 pm, July 12th, 2007

Boys i am upgrading cooney and have enough to buy absolutely any player. Who should i go for? P.s I have Bartel, knights, west, black, dal santo and cooney in midfield.

hirdy Says: 6:15 pm, July 12th, 2007

Im really thinking about Swan or K. Cornes.

Bylsmaar Says: 6:32 pm, July 12th, 2007

Swan definitely. Never know when Kane Cornes is going to play full back again after the last 2 weeks…

balky Says: 6:45 pm, July 12th, 2007

Ok, need some help here. I need cover for kerr this week, I have petterd and houli on my bench so am plannning on trading petterd for cash as i want to make some upgrades in the coming weeks. Who is a better bet out of Hislop and Simon Buckley … other options are Grigg and Boak. Anyone have any thoughts on these guys, i havent seen any of them play.

balky Says: 6:47 pm, July 12th, 2007

…. btw, whoever i trade for this week will be in my starting 22 this week and then will be on my bench pending no injuries!

hirdy Says: 6:48 pm, July 12th, 2007

Boak is definitely your man. Got 88 last week and has a good average for what he is worth. With an average of -34 he is your go to man. As a bomber supporter though i was very impressed with hislop and reckon will get every game for the rest of the year.

hirdy Says: 7:05 pm, July 12th, 2007

sorry ment to say -34 breakevan.

Scotty Says: 7:18 pm, July 12th, 2007

Jimmy bartel the star came good end 3 quarter and into the last quarter starting to look like the old dream team top scorer again. affraid with the purchase of marty clark (good invest) but will he get drop with the guns of James Clement, Simon Prestigiacomo, Rhyce Shaw and Brodie Holland

Sydney Suck Says: 7:36 pm, July 12th, 2007

Hmm.. for captain, I’m tossing up between Big Cox and Nige Lappin.

Cox is against Lade.. but then again, Cox depantsed Charman and pretty unstoppable.

Lappin is in great form too. Godfrey will probably go to Black.. there’s also Power though, who McDonald might go to.

damo Says: 7:37 pm, July 12th, 2007

do u think selling buddy for dale thomas is a good trade?

Scotty Says: 7:46 pm, July 12th, 2007

sydney suck go with cox hes been play good footy latly and racking up a fair few dt points and laide will be like nuffin to the big guy

damo i think u shouldn’t trade as bad as buddy has been playing latly, i reckon he will pick up his game and start scoring more dt points but thomas is a good player too and is a bit more consistant and like i said earlier with the pies big ins in the next week or two he mightn’t get the ball as much as he has been latley

damo Says: 7:51 pm, July 12th, 2007

maybe a brett burton for buddy?

Sydney Suck Says: 7:58 pm, July 12th, 2007

Hirdy, I also have Cooney.

I’m thinking of hanging onto him because there’s certainly gonna be work for him to do.. and he’s in great form.

However, if you’re going to trade him, I’d wait another week and get Kane Cornes. Cooney will most probably go up this week, Kane will definitely go down and you will be able to see if Mark Williams is still on the cheeba - if Kane plays as a tagger again.

If you’re going to get Swan, this is the week to pounce.. but I’d prefer Kane Cornes.. provided he’s playing his own game.

Sydney Suck Says: 8:01 pm, July 12th, 2007

I wouldn’t, Hawthorn just got slammed.

If you’ve got the cash and don’t have him already, I’d get Scott Lucas. Though aside from that, I’d keep him.

Scotty Says: 8:14 pm, July 12th, 2007

swan sucks wat team do u go for?

damo thats a tough one burtons a good player and pretty consistent

damo Says: 8:20 pm, July 12th, 2007

ah i traded buddy and picked up nathan brown.. i picked up mattner a few weeks ago and now hes been dropped the last 2 weeks.. u reckon a trade for kennelly is worth it?

hirdy Says: 11:05 pm, July 12th, 2007

For future needs who will have the higher averages. Swan or K.Cornes. This is a very important trade for me so i need to pick the better man. Who is it?

Stevo Says: 2:39 am, July 13th, 2007

Haha love the afl website. Carrazzo is such a gun that he is listed in 2 positions. Champion.

Brayden Says: 10:52 am, July 13th, 2007

OK, needing some real help here. Im 2nd playing 1st this week. And will take top spot if I win.

I have Davey, West and McVeigh not playing this week and I have 6 trades left for the season.

I have Gibbs on the bench to replace McVeigh for the week. I have Fevola to replace Davey for now. But, I got no to replace West? Should I trade him? Or is it pretty certain he will be back next week. And take the 0 points for the one week?

Tom Says: 10:58 am, July 13th, 2007

Brayden - if you’re that keen to win, then let Gibbs play for West and “upgrade” McVeigh for a cheapish gun centre. Heath Scotland, Adam Goodes and Simon Black come to mind.

If I were you I’d take the risk and save my trade for the finals… you may win the battle this week, but the war will be decided in round 22.

Brayden Says: 11:18 am, July 13th, 2007

Really, in this is doesn’t really matter if you finish 1st to 4th expect bragging rights. So, I think I might just risk it this week.

In the last 4 weeks I have the 3 other top 4 sides and the bottom side. But, if I put off the win this week I will have Westy and McVeigh back to knock off the other sides.

I’m definitely taking the risk. I want the premiership not the minor premiership!

Is Travis tuck going to debut this weekend for hawthorn, they don’t mention it in Sunday’s teams, he was on and extended bench yesterday, Jacobs and thurgood have been ruled out, Thorp is the only one definitely on the bench, so what’s going on?

Alex Says: 6:29 pm, July 13th, 2007

Travis tuck, in or out??

hirdy Says: 7:11 pm, July 13th, 2007

boys decided to put chris knights my captain. Am i crazy?

Booth Says: 7:12 pm, July 13th, 2007

travis tuck won’t play mate, 100% sure

Booth Says: 7:15 pm, July 13th, 2007

haha yep hirdy, hes been going alright…. but surely u have a better option than him

hirdy Says: 7:34 pm, July 13th, 2007

ohh no changed to dal santo for captain. Now really regret doing it as knights will get more possesions.
