Player of the week: Brent Harvey (142). The brother of former junior star, Shane, stepped up in style for Glenn Archer’s 300th match. His 142 points covered all bases; he had wayyy more kicks than handballs (23 to 4), six tackles, ten marks, and two goals. The only thing missing was a hit-out or two, but being 172 cm tall, we’ll forgive him for that.
Honourable mentions: Dane Swan (125), Daniel Giansiracusa (128), Dean Cox (129), Daniel Motlop (131)
Biggest disappointment: Peter Everitt (37). After yours truly predicted him to step up in Hall’s absence, Spida had a shocker against the Cats. His fellow ruckman Darren Jolly wasn’t any better, scoring just 38. With Aaron Sandilands’ late withdrawal, it was a dud week for ruckman. Only Dean Cox, Jamie Charman and Hamish McIntosh managed to score 100s.
Other points of interest:
- Judd and Koschitzke’s injuries were adequately covered by the more popular fill-in choices. Joel Selwood copped a heavy knock against the Swans but still managed a decent 80 (up $18k to $289k now, with a break-even of just 20). And while Koschitzke is both a Forward and Back, Alwyn Davey (98, his highest score ever) and Jesse Smith both pulled their fingers out. Smith’s score of 75 came at the right time; it was his best for six weeks.
- For the Dockers, Aaron Sandilands‘ late withdrawal didn’t mean a thing; youngster Robert Warnock taught Cain Ackland a lesson in the ruck, scoring 82 points to Ackland’s 38. Warnock jumped $32k to $138k - and he’s looking like the best mid-season cash-cow ruckman this year. A big surprise, but I reckon he’s well ahead of Justin Longmuir as Freo’s second ruckman of choice. The only worry is if he starts to get more gametime and pinch points from Sandilands. Other Freo players did well, too; Steven Dodd scored 108, while Dean Solomon’s 116 was his third career DT ton, and his first at the Dockers.
- As many have noted, Fev’s awful score of 44 was much, much worse in Supercoach; he scored just one. Far out, no wonder they dropped him.
- As you’d expect in a 77-point loss, the Blues struggled for good DT numbers. Bryce Gibbs’ score of 18 was his lowest this year, and Jordan Russell’s 51 continues a worrying trend. The 2004 number nine draft pick has only topped 70 twice this season. To put that in perspective, do you want to know who went two picks before him? Another Jordan - Jordan Lewis
- Adam Goodes’ score of 102 was encouraging; it’s his third match in a row over 95
- Another faded gun this season is Adelaide’s Graham Johncock. Johncock sank to below $240k in price not long ago, but his score of 86 against the Eagles was his highest of an injury-interrupted 2007 season. Is he worth getting? Maybe not – there’s plenty of other reasonably priced Backs who are more reliable than Stiffy. However, he is excellent value at $254k
- Mark Ricciuto is one Crow whose DT price is still falling. After scoring 49 against the Eagles, he’s down $28k to $239k. It’ll get worse; his breakeven is 130. Nathan Van Berlo was one Crow who fired, big-time, scoring 110 to rise to $329k
- From the Eagles camp, Adam Hunter scored a career-high 124. Daniel Kerr had a day out, scoring 102 – his highest since round five, causing a price rise to $291k with a breakeven of just 41. Andrew Embley registered 100 (he’s averaging 92 in his five games this season), and another Eagle scored his career high against the Crows; All-Australian Darren Glass, who scored 80
- Good scores all round in the free-flowing, high-possession Hawks-Pies clash. As well as Swan’s 125, Tarkyn Lockyer scored 96, young Martin Clarke scored 85, and Travis Cloke scored 89. The only real mis-fire was Scott Burns, who had his second bad week in a row to score 57. From the Hawks, Ben McGlynn scored a great 115, while Grant Birchall and Jordan Lewis both showed a return to DT form, scoring 85 and 84 respectively. Another one worth pointing out; Shane Crawford had a day out, scoring 102. He’s still quite cheap at $319k…- All the talk this week will surround the competition’s two top players, Kane Cornes and Jimmy Bartel, who scored 61 and 43 this week. That will hurt a lot of teams, since (especially with Judd out) those players are popular captain choices. Bartel was injured, but could be back this week – but Cornes had a shocker. It was his lowest since round six last year (against Adelaide) and should see him fall roughly $19k to $411k. He will drop even further in coming weeks, as will Bartel. When you’re over $450k, you need stunning scores just to hold your price, and that 43 will see him almost certainly plummet to under $400k within a few matches.
- Essendon’s two goalkickers, Matthew Lloyd and Scott Lucas, did well against Melbourne on Friday night. Their combined 229 points was the highest aggregate score since round one last year. However, despite Lucas’ excellent score of 119, he will still fall slightly after some underwhelming recent performances.
- It wasn’t all good for the Dons – several young midfielders had a terrible night. Brent Stanton had 63, Jobe Watson scored 60 and Jason Winderlich registered 59. Against that, Alwyn Davey had his best Dream Team match ever, scoring 98 while Jason Laycock covered for the suspended David Hille with a career-high score of 94
- For the Dees, Cameron Bruce and James McDonald led the scoring with 103 and 97 respectively. Brock McLean looks set for a price fall after scoring 68; he should fall around $15k to $313k – and his break-even will be around 149
- Brett Kirk continued his stellar form for the Swans in their loss to Geelong. He’s now averaging 119 over the last four weeks, after scoring 128 against the Cats. If you picked him up at $305k a few weeks ago, you’re laughing
- Meanwhile, Geelong captain Tom Harley scored 47; that is exactly his average after five games in a disappointing season so far
- Daniel Motlop’s score of 131 against the Brisbane Lions was just his second DT hundred – the other was in 2004 – and it was a stylish one. Aside from Kane Cornes’ dud night, other Power players did well; The Chad scored 129, while the Burgoyne brothers both topped the ton. Peter scored 105, and Shaun scored 101, his second DT hundred this year. Unfortunately for Brendan Lade fans, the big bloke scored just 46 and will slump to $274k this week, with a break-even of 174
- Justin Westhoff scored just 55 despite kicking three goals (and probably winning this week’s Rising Star nomination), while fellow first-year forward Robert Gray had a disappointing 36. Westhoff is now up to $177k, having risen $41k, while Gray is now at $150k. Who’ll be most expensive at season’s end – anyone want to bet?
For the Lions, all of the big guns fired – bar one. While Nigel Lappin scored 129 (his highest of the year), Luke Power scored 120 and Josh Drummond (118), Jamie Charman (106) and Jonathan Brown (106) did not disappoint. However, Simon Black scored a miserable 49 – which will see him fall around $25k to under $260k. His break-even will be over 150 next week, so he’ll fall even further

Jimmy Bartel superstar of the competition, i have no idea what happened to him as i missed the game. Can anyone tell me who caused this injury?
Bartel had numbness in the arms and had to be rushed to hospital, will be fine this week though.
I can’t believe the big Fevola didn’t even get a mention in the Biggest Disappointment. 44 points is disgusting but what is worse is his 1 point in SC. Fev get a touch.
adam cooney 3rd ton in a row.
very happy with Charman’s work possibly the inform ruckman of the competition. But probably overshadowed by Cox. Also, just out of intrest how many teams do u think Marty Clarke and Browny will been in
Does anyone know whats the deal with the following players, all are on my bench and a frustrating the hell out of me:
A. Browne (Frem)
F. Watts (StK)
M. Riggio (Kang)
B. Muston (Haw)
Muston is in the Queue and probably (baring a run of injuries) will struggle to play in 2007. If he can get through to the end of this year and then through the pre-season injury free, load up on him for next year!
Molly
Watts is highly rated but cannot break into the saints’ first 22, even though kossi’s hammy went twaaang. Riggio won’t play this year either barring injuries
Peter Gill,
What are your thoughts on Nathan G Brown now after labelling me a “peanut” last week when i stated that he was a must have player.
I will take his 100 average to the bank thank you…
macca,
im still siding with pete in calling u a peanut, u took a huge risk in picking up brown after one week not having a clue how he would pull up the next week. and NOW he has proven himself, us more experienced DT players will pick him for exactly the same price with far less a risk to take.
Anyone know what happened to big Sandilands?
andrew browne is returning from a hamstring injury through the wafl, but with schammer and peake making returns to the freo midfield recently its tough to see him getting a game, although he may be picked for his explosive pace… also any thoughts on adam hunter finall registering the big score he has always promised??
sticks,
In order to have a team scoring 2000 week in week out, you need to take risks and act fast. Trading Hall for NGB increased my teams score even further.
Nevertheless i admire your conservative tactics. They are sure to build you nothing more than a mediocre dreamteam…
Wow Macca…
ur pretty hard…
Macca i’m siding with Sticks,
trading hall for brown was a pretty big risk, and has paid off luckily . But the that one extra score of 119 is not a huge advantage getting him a week earlier than everyone else. Your gaining 50 points at most. That score could have been a 20 with injury and leaving u in the crapper with no price rise. So i evaluate that u have taken an unnecisary risk and are a wanker.
Back to the footy - what does everyone think of big Fev’s club issued suspension?
I saw his 100m penalty on the weekend and it has typified his season so far.
Yeah he deserved it. Say Macca why not trade fev in, its a huge risk that may win the Dream Team Comp for you…
Okay so on the Bartel issue. He is the heart and sole of my team and may not play this friday. I cannot risk him being named and not ending up playing as i have “dud” emergencies. Should i trade my emergency clinton Jones for martin clarke?
I’m also wondering whether it’s worth picking up Clarke before his price goes up. I want to trade in Gibbs to make some cash and Clarke seems like the last viable option to do this.
How likely is it that he’ll soon be forced back to the rookie list as Collingwood take people off the long term list? I don’t know much about how the rules work for that stuff.
boyus i need some help
i ahve simon black. i have 5 trades left and i am out of the top 8 on percentage.
my chances of making it r good
DO I KEEP BLACK OR TRADE HIM NOW AND IF SO WHICH PLAYER DO I GET THATS UNDER 310 GRAND IN DT??
I’ve read two reports on Bartel today. One earlier on today from the club said that Bartel would have to do something special to get picked this week. The other was reported from Bartel (this arvo) saying that he was right to go and would play this weekend. Who wins - club or player? I think they’ll have a hard time keeping him off the ground. He’s definitely a hard nut
Hey Raul. Keep Black. It’d be silly to trade him.
yeh toon.i was thinking that
but
as stated if he gets to 260… i cant reely trade him for a better player
and do i trade ben jhnson my collingwood superstar that hasnt been performing
AND
i wood liek to state that ben mgylnn is a superstar iu had him since start of th eyear
James - I think Clarke was taken off the rookie list for Chris Egan who is said to be 8-10 weeks away from making a return. Collingwood do have a few similar type players to make a return like Clement, Lonie, Shaw, O’Brien & Buckley (maybe not) so he could get forced out of the team, especially if he has a bad game or two. He should play the next couple of weeks though, but could easily get dropped if he has some poor games. He’s a risk but if you need money and don’t rely on him being in your starting 22 he could be a good pick up.
Travis Boak is probably more likely to play week-in week-out, especially with Salopek and Thomas being injured for the Power.
About NG Brown - like anything Dream Team, he involves an element of luck. So far, that is in his favour.
Someone mentioned to me today that before he was injured, he was the leading DT scorer in 2005.
err tom
n.g brown was dominating. before he got injured he was favouite for the coleman. and he was a high bronwlo chance and not to mention he was thrashing dt liek bartel is in 07
n theres no luck. he is a genuine superstar and i richmoind faithful new he was gona b a superstar
Yeah, whats going on with big Sandilands? Back this week?
And Fev, has he been suspended? For how long? I don’t have any forwards on the bench would it be a idea to upgrade my Hawkins or Vince and have decent Forward on the bench or get rid of Fev?
Boak may be more likely to play, but he’s not scoring too well. Clarke would be on the bench for me, but if he was dropped I wouldn’t have any other centres to be emergencies which is concerning.
Can anyone recommend any other youngsters (in any position) that are still cheap and likely to score reasonably?
attention this is urgent
gilbee or shaw and 60 grand?
which 1 to get?
Thanks for the info guys, looks like im screwed if any of my starting 22 go down lol.
Brayden, Bernie Vince has really been carving them up in the SANFL. Wait and see if he gets named this week before trading him.
go for shaw raul… hawthorn tried to tag him outta the match but he still raked in a lazy 100
hey,.. i’m so addicted to this dreamteam shit… itz the best… shitz on footy tipping compz n all that…. haha but hey do most of u’s have trouble with saving trades? … i have 6 left n i wanna do 2 this week…. coz i have 2 shit forwards on my bench…. cleve hughes n leeroy jetta…. n so was gonna upgrade one for nathan brown n put tredrea on the bench…. tredreaz been shit as everyone knows…. but i feel i’m stuck with him now n not much better available at $200,000…. could b a handy first emergancy for my forward line…. compared to the 2 unrealiable ones i have now… n my other trade was martin clarke for gibbs… i don’t really need clarke to play…. just doing it 4 money for browny…. also i pretty much have a top 4 spot sewn up…. coz i’m 4th… with 5 of the bottom 6 sides to play…. can’t see them beating me coz there scoring 1500’s….. would u’s do the trades? .. or to risky with 6 trades left…. itz so tempting to do the trades!!!
If you’re a shoe in for the final four, you might want to save some trades for finals when you will be playing better sides. Trust me, there will be more injuries and suspensions.
Any body know anything about tim boyle’s injury against the pies? will he be picked this week?
I heard he had a hamstring injury. He left the field straight away not even using the interchange and didn’t come back on, so I’d be pretty suprised if he did play.
Boyle’s hammy looked pretty bad.
Could be a 2-4 weeker. I hope not though, I have him.
Brayden - the reason that Spida, not Fev, got the Biggest Diss for this week is:
a) this is Dream Team, not Supercoach.
b) Spida’s recent form has been ok, and with Hall out he could have been expected to take at least one mark inside 50. Fev has been playing like Josh Jay Kennedy for six weeks now.
To anyone who gives a damn,
My centres are Bartel, KCornes, Judd, Lappin, Wojinski, Ball, Thomas and Browne. I’m looking to trade for Marty Clark to upgrade Wojinski (good footballer but a poo dt player). Should I trade Thomas and spare up more cash to pay for a Swan, West etc. or trade Browne to get anyone under 300k (I’ve currently got 30k in the bank and 8 trades left.
simon
well bartell kornes judd lappin ball are good players.
which thomas do u speek of?
if it is lindsay thomas, i wood get rid off him for clarke. wojinski may be a poo player but at least he gets 50.
u must decide whether u want superstar dud or 2 good players
DOES ANY1 BELIEVE THAT BEN MGLYNN IS A GENUINE SUPERSTAR?
i have had him since the start of the year, and he has made good contributions
i have listed a few of the best buys this year accoridng to their starting price, hit me back if u agree or disagree
1. Priddis
2. Lappin
3. Adkok
4. Maybe Mglynn
5. Selwood (joel)
simon- With Marty Clarke he is probably the best choice midfield reserve player at the current stage. Because of this you can upgrade the more expensive reserve.
raul- Heath Shaw is a better option then then Gilbee. Do the trade.
BTW Doc says i hypoflexed my knee and will miss 2 - 3 weeks of action.
For a starting centre Raul, I want to be getting at least 80. I guess what I am asking is do you trade an emergency who should be getting more game time (Linsey Thomas - who still may be dropped to make way for Leigh Harding) or Browne who may never recover from his chronic hamstring injuries.
P.S. McIntosh has to be top two in bargain.buys this year. Wish I had him and Priddis.
ARI r u serious?….
wat happened?
and simon..
martin clarke is the popular option at the moment and as u can get alot of extra money to upgrade wojinski, clarke will b kepot in the side until all starts come back wich at most woll be 3 weeks. This may be extended if he continues to play well.
yes mcintosh should be top 2.. any other suggestions?
raul- Haha by doc i mean dad and luckily i have no match this week so i should be fully fit to return in 2 weeks time. When i slipped the bone crunched luckily not breaking.
simon- I agree with raul about marty clarke that he will be fighting for his spot in the squad. With clement, O-brian and more of the supestars coming in its hard to see him getting a game every week.
If you upgrade Wojinski who is your first choice to buy?
Tom I think we should name the biggest disappointment of the week. Anyone have any good ideas?
no doubt spider or fev as the biggest dissapointments. Simon Black 49. Not to good either
Kane Cornes can blame his high standards and consistnacy for being one of the biggest disapointments of the week too.
spider has to be.. he was a ‘go to’ captain 2 years ago.. now he is inconsitant as shit!
need some help boys. Boyle is out for 3-4 weeks and i dont have a playing emergency. I need a midfield emergency for Bartel incase he doesn’t come through. Im tihnking of downgrading Clinton Jones to Martin Clarke and then upgrading boyle to Jordan Mcmahon. Are there any other better choices? I have 11 trades left.
Any word on Kennelly? Heard a whisper that he may be available this week. He seems to have a history of healing quickly.
tom - yeah, I realise this is DT! but 44 is a shithouse score. deserves a mention.
simon - well, if Bernie gets up I will just chuck him in the side and bench Fevola. But what if he doesn’t? Who would be the best to trade? Fev, Hawkins or Vince? Hawkins and Vince are worth the same, roughly 120,000. Could I get anyone for that?
Hey Brayden,
Don’t get rid of Fev… you’ve wasted so much money already you might as well keep him as a handy bench warmer. Sell Hawkins, the cats are smashing every team without him. Merrett (Bris) is a hopeless DT scorer but he always gets a game. He did get 85 in round 2 so even if he sits on your bench, at least he always plays. Otherwise look at Newton (Melb). He did ok in his 1st game and didn’t get much time. He’ll only get better. Better than Reid for collingwood at least.
Reid probably won’t hold his spot anyway with Rocca coming back in round 15 and also the possibility of Rusling making a return. He’d have to hit some good form in the next game to stay in the team.
Guys really need to know who to trade Boyle for. I have 40 grand in the bank.
Yeah, im cats supporter and I’m well aware that he ain’t getting a game soon. Been pretty damn poor in the reserves as well so probably won’t even be the first call for an injured tall forward.
Yeah, this is a list of players which I could trade for Hawkins…
Daniel Merrett (several games). Average: 35.
Ben Reid (1 game). Average: 42.
Malcolm Lynch. (2 games) Average: 31.
Micheal Newton. (1 game) Average: 51.
So, I think I will just wait to see who gets named. =)
Also, this will only leave me with 3 trades left for the season. Ouch!
Daniel pearce out for 2-4 wks with appendicitis or some shit
Trade Boyle for McMahon or Wirrpanda. They have both dropped a lot in value and have a better average than Boyle. McMahon will probably get more of it than Wirrpanda coz the doggies chip it around and the ball isn’t in the eagles back half as much…especially if Judd comes back.
Hirdy - McMahon probably is an alright option at the moment for $239k or less. Is that $40k you’ve got spare after you trade for Clarke as well? If not and you can get someone better who costs a little more, like Chris Newman ($245k), Heath Shaw ($265k) or McLeod ($272k) etc.
Brayden,
If you’ve only got 3 trades left you’ll want someone who will play every week. Reid, Lynch and Newton haven’t proven themselves and are likely to get dropped. That only leaves Merrit for your price range. Hey… 30 points can win you a game, believe me. I won the granny last year by 12.
so your saying mcmahon over wirapanda?
Ed- thats 40k after trading clarke so i can only aford 240k or lower. Is mcmahon my best option. I wish i could aford heater.
Considering you have 11 trades left I’d go McMahon and if you need to upgrade him in the future chances are he would have risen more than what he currently is. He did get dropped earlier on in the year because of poor form but quickly made a return, so he’s probably had his wake up call.
If Bartell is named this week against essendon should i risk putting him as captain. If he is a late drop out i am in serious trouble. Him or Mat Pav as captain?
What is the chance of jimmy playing this week?
Breaking News. This was released by the Adelaide football club concerning Nathan Basset.
“KEY ADELAIDE defender Nathan Bassett’s AFL season could be over because of a broken ankle.”
“”It will be a minimum of eight weeks before Nathan would be ready to play,”-Crows doctor Andrew Potter
I wouldn’t risk Jimmy as captain - the word out of Geelong is mixed. He definitely will be named, but play? Who knows.
Brayden, you should definitely looke at Michael Newton. He did alright last week on a good player in Fletcher and Melbourne have big wraps on this kid. Also, Neitz looks like being out for a while, so he should get game time to develop.
Hird - look at Johncock as well. Scored his highest for the year last week, and appears to be over that injury.
Brayden - I agree with Ed, Newton is worth watching closely this week before trading him in. Another highly-rated forward is Fergus Watts… I’ve got him, but I thought he would have played before now. Hmmm
Loving all these comments, boys. Will we get to 100 one of these weeks?
Tom - The sad thing is that I need the player this week. So, I gotta take the risk and with only a few trades it better pan out. But, saying all this, I might not even have to go ahead with the trade if Bernie Vince gets up.
Joncock is a tiny bit risjy dom’t you think. I mean 1 good weak is not enough for me.
Joncock is over Hirdy’s $239k max price anyway. I think Johncock is usually pretty good, but he was limping around late in his last game. I was going to get him into my team but opted for McLeod instead.
dont think joncock would have been my first choice any way. I need to wait to see if lloydy was succesful in challenging his 1 match suspennsion. any one reckon he will get off the hook?
He’s a chance considering Goodes and Didak got off similar charges, but who knows with the tribunal, they’re not exactly consistant.
Lets just hope Lloyd gets a week because he is a wanker! Nah, cause they have the cats this week and I’m feeling it as a danger game. If you want a roughie in ya tips this week get on the dons! I would if I wasn’t loyal to my club.
Any body know why Aaron Edwards pulled out last week?
just wana jump in and ask macca if he reads this where he sits in his DT league. As the top side in my league 2 games clear of 2nd conservative tactics with NG Brown would be the sensible option. and if winning is mediocre, call me mediocre ne day of the week.
Hey guys wats the latest on 211, will he back to consistent 80’s when he returns? I need big cox to strengthen my rucks and its either hudo or sandi that gets the chop wat are your thoughts?
Also the biggest question is who to trade from my emergancies to marty clarke out of Hadley and Pettard- Hard choice!
Jase84-who is 211?
Lloydy got 1 week. Looks like ill be playing 1 man down with campbelle my emergency.
I’m guessing 211 is Sandilands, referring to his height?
As for trading either Hadley or Petterd for Clarke, I had the exact same option and chose to trade Hadley. I think Petterd will go up in price more than Hadley, although looking at it Hadley could be more certainty to be picked week in, week out. They’re pretty much the same, but I chose Petterd because I think he can score more and be more consistant in terms of scoring.
i have the same options with trading petterd and hadley - i would trade petterd because hadley is more likely to play out the season (injuries aside).
reesy you are an absolute clown, petterd is a future superstar and will only improve. Hadley is another brisbane lion mug, anyone who has too many lions in their team has no idea about dream team. Keep petterd, trade hadley. Get a clue you idiot reesy.
nice comment tweeds you sh*t for brains - hadley, although a tad inconsistent has the ability to score hundreds (scored 120 odd one round) whilst petterd gets stuff all game time and butters up his score with lucky goals and chip marks - he won’t be able to continue this for much longer…
you are a goose!!
good comeback reesy, unfortunately for your retarded self your argument falls down because players like petterd that butter up with chip marks are absolute gold in dream team. If you had a bit more experience and understood the game this might be clearer to you. As it is you are in a world of hurt and must have a shocking team anyways judging by the fact that you have both of these players so any advice is probably wasted on you. Better luck next year though.
tweeds, when voicing an opinion it helps if you get your context correct… Chip possessions are great in fantasy (bowden, gilbee, shaw etc.) for established players, however fringe players need to be able to show more than an ability to get easy possessions and kick bunny goals (something i am sure you would be good at if you played the game - this is probably a wasted comment though cause you strike me as one of those “wazza” nerds who sits on computers all days and follows footy in their fantasy world only) - hadley is a proven hard ball getter and thus is likely to hold his position more than petterd. The other context you must have missed is that both of those players are my RESERVES who will be traded for Clarke - they don’t break into my midfield of bartel, cornes, bruce, priddis, lappin and west! Context - you are a w*nker
thanks for the feedback reesy, looks like you have put a lot of thought into that … not sure what you mean in reference to “wazza” nerds, can only imagine that must be some imaginary friend you have as you seem to be extremely distanced from reality you turkey slapper. Go ahead and trade out petterd and watch hadley suck it up for the rest of the year, i will be laughing my ar@e off as your team slips further down the rankings. Go hump a goat you hillbilly, wouldnt suprise me if you are a freo supporter as well.
i will probably keep both as my team is set and don’t need cash for clarke… as luck would have it i am a freo supporter - your mum advised me to support them when she was s*cking me and the goat off - no doubt you are a pole smoking eagles supporter - go snort a line so you can stay up all night thinking of more witty comments to say.
ha ha … what a suprise, freo heavo, now all the angst makes sense. Must be frustrating to see your team overachieve last year and face reality this year. Why dont you pick up shane parker for your team you moron! Yes i am an eagles supporter and dont worry benny boy will be straight in my team when available. go eagles … back to back! PS Suck my b@lls you retard reesy
funny… the only thing going back to back this year is you and rowan jones - why don’t you give him the reach around - it may help him learn how to kick. you are abviously from the quinten lynch school of intelligence with those clever comments. quiet tip for you - dockers to finish 4th with the wiz back
You guys stayed up too late… Any News on Goodwin, Edwards, Kosi, Hall ect?
I think I heard that Goodwin and Hall might make returns but Kosi will miss another week or two. Don’t quote me on that.
Ramanauskas is set to play his first game in 2007 against Geelong on Friday.
STICKS!!!
Im sure your dreamteam is doing about as well as the football club you support.
I ask you to please refrain from further comment to avoid embarrassing yourself even further.
GO NGB!
Macca
reesy, tweeds that was no doubt the most entertaining fanfooty argument ever.
Kozzi is to miss another 1-2 weeks, hall if he does not play this week is most likely seasonal, not sure bout goodwin and edwards.
I will finish top 4 in my league but am tempted with trades each week but only have 3 left.
How many trades are recommended for the finals series.
Different people have different theories, Damo. But I reckon you’ll want to keep all three spare for the four-week finals series… the only exceptions to this are season-ending injuries to gun players (eg Hall / Judd).
Good to see you joining in on the chat Gideon…
I think you’re stuffed either way!
Is judd playing this week? hopefuly not as the team im playing heavily relies on him.
Judd is out this week. just read it on eagles website
where on the website does it say that. Parts of it say he is a starter.
My mistake. Bloody AFL websites are shit and seem to update once every 6 months. Dunno mate if Judd is out or not. I hope not though as I only have Petterd as emergency and Pearce the softy is out for 2 weeks because he had his appendix taken out.
I have too many tampons in my side.
In for 1 week then out for 3.
Anyone know if Walker (Carlton) is playing this week? And… Who should I trade for N. Brown, Hall or Aaron Edwards?
Blozza- Hall could be out for the season. If that is so then you know who to trade. I personaly believe you trade Hall because of his lack of form and now his crucial injury. With Nathan Thompson out Edwards is their main target.
Who do youse reckon I should trade …Hall or Fevola?
Thanks Hirdy, you’re a good bloke.
Damo: If what Hirdy said is true (Hall being out for the season), then trade him. Wait for Friday’s teams though. Fev has been dissapointing but after everything he has gone through, he should bounce back. At least he will be a handy bench warmer.
I’d wait on the news about Hall. There was talk of him playing this weekend. If he’s not named then who knows how long he’ll be out for.
I’m first on my ladder, averaging 1840 a week,
i have 8 trades lefts and 260k in the bank.
I have fevola, who should i trade him 4??
Simple answer Richo…
Keep the money in the bank and get Nathan G Brown. He is a dead set superstar.
Thanks STRAYA. If anyone wants to know i’m coming 17,500 overall so i’m well qualified to provide advice
STRAYA - 39th in WA? My grandma could do better. Harden up
Judd will miss another week.
Eagles will pump Bris Vegas this weekend
Kosi makes me nervous
For those who are wondering about Newton playing I just read that Melbourne have adopted a youth first policy and with Neitz out this week there’s a good chance he’ll be playing.
I saw him play last Friday and he definitely has some talent, his hands were strong and his kicks were low, hard and accurate. He’s only blunder was when he dropped an easy chest mark that bounced off his chest which resulted in him being dragged which in turn resulted in him being free on the wing, receiving the ball and spearing it to Robbo.
Anyone got any ideas how long,
Judd and Kosi are out for?
Ross Lyon said Kosi will be out for a max of 3 weeks. That was a week ago when he did his hammy against the eagles. Hold on to him if your running low on trades coz he should be back against the crows on Friday the 13th… Not a good day for Kosi to be playing footy.
Don’t know about Judd.
Hey Blozza I read that Pagan was “expecting” Walker to return this week.
I’ll try again: anyone know (or care for that matter) whether Kennelly might be making an early comeback this week.
not sure kb.
The paper said yesterday that he is out for 1 week still.
As we know things may change.
OK Gideon (or is that Bert?).
You seem to know what you’re talking about. I am trying to win $10 off a mate of mine by making the top 100. My biggest dilemma with 2 trades left is to keep Hall or trade him?
My fwd line reads:
B Johnson
M Pavlich
Ablett jr
J Brown
N Riewoldt
P Chapman
B Hall
I have C Cornes in my backline - so who would be the highest points earner for the rest of the season?? Opinions?? Should I even contemplate it?? Hall has been giving me the shits all season (the love is being tested)…
Thinking of trading Gibbs (sits on my bench in the midfield)for Clarke (Pies) and using the extra coin (plus some i have in reserve) to trade Bizzell for Sinclair (in the backs). I note that Sinclair has scored b/w 80-100 all season. Can anyone suggest anything better
get lucas for hall - can’t remember the last time he missed a game - don’t know whether lloyd being out is a good or bad thing for his scoring potential. If you are that close to being in the top 100, you have to go for it. PS - in the light of a new day, that tweeds bloke is still a d*ckhead
Thanks for the advice on Walker Ed.
Kennelly will be out for another week, 2 at the max. I doubt they will bring him back early after what happened last time.
My outs this week:
Judd
Kosi
Fevola
Lloyd
Hall
4 players missing out of my forward line.
Lucky I am playing a team that averages 1300.
Sticks,
I suggest you get a clue.
Why dont you just keep Bizell and make him captain???
STRAYA - As a 17,500 ranked player i would advise sitting on Hall and keeping your trades handy. Top 100 is still a posibility - but the league is where your priority should be. After all - the miracle mile is more then just a sprint
Sinclair is consistently good (80-90). Another option is McPhee who can have a blinder one week and get 60 the next. Not as many people have Sinclair so he’s probably a better choice.
Sinclair is gold up back - wish i had him.
Winning the Miracle Mile is definitely an illustrious accomplishment! - but so is bragging rights for making it overall…
Tough decisions ahead me thinks.
Let’s first see if Hall gets named this week…
Thanks for your thoughts Reesy - Remember though - hall hadn’t missed a game since 2002 before last week!! It’s also his worst season DT wise since starting with the Swans!
boys just got back from essendon training and Winderlich pulled a horrible hammy. I had a quick chat to him and he is in serious strife. Did not take part in further training. Hird left to the rooms early. Brent Stanton passed a fitness test and looks ready to play.
no not winda thats another injury for me.
Boys need some captain help. Bartel or Mat Pavlich or Brad Johnson or Chad Cornes or Scotty West or Nick Dal Santo or buddy franklin. Who is my best choice.
P.s Bartel very likely to play.
true straya about hally’s longevity but he has looked like he has been labouring for a while this season, and whilst reluctant to trade guns, his poor form and injury suspician mean a trade for lucas is a very attractive option.
learn to spell reesy you dim mit
haha… wats a “dim mit”???
Take ur own advice buddy…
Stick- What is your price limit for trading bizzel?
guys im coming 685th overall n i have 132k in the bank. im going to trade franklin for nathan g brown n davey for chapman or ablett, who would u reccomend? my forward line is:
16. JOHNSON, Brad (WBD)
17. PAVLICH, Matthew (FRE)
18. CORNES, Chad (PTA)
19. O’KEEFE, Ryan (SYD)
20. FRANKLIN, Lance (HAW)for nathan g brown
21. DAVEY, Alwyn (ESS) for chapman or ablett
22. EMBLEY, Andrew (WCE)
need i say anything else tweeds you MANKER… as i said, Quinten Lynch school of intelligence.
DT TALK EPISODE #4…
Online now.. check it out!!
(hit us up monty!! haha.. you know you wanna! love u mate…)
listening to DT TALK now. Still need some captain help don’t know who to choose. Scroll up to see my options.
todd - go with Scotty West for captain this week. He has an average of over 99 against Port. I am going K Cornes this week (even if he ends up tagging Westy he’ll pick up heaps)…
Straya- His captain is westy and in order for me to win i need to better his score with my cap. Im thinking Brad Johnson.
sorry got same problem todd
hey guys does anyone know if Kieran Jack looks like getting another game this year? Same with Armitage? Ive gotta offload one to get Marty Clarke. Which one should go?
Johnny - get rid of kieran Jack - Armitage will play more. He was a top 10 pick, and showed some good form when played, but made a few mistakes, hence why he was dropped. Id say he should be back. Especially if saints dont make the finals.
Is 140 posts the most of all time???
Ranked 174th overall, and scoring 2000 in the last 4 weeks. The season is looking strong . Just hope Jimmy Bartel gets up this week, too risky to put captain although im tempted cos he was certainly up for another 100 against Sydney if he didn’t get hurt
Bartel should do well, but like you said it’s a risk. Even if he does play you have the chance of him getting another bump and giving him a bit of time on the bench, or if he’s not 100% having a quieter game. That’s probably unlikely though. But hey, the Cats are playing on Friday so you’ll be able to see if he’s still in the team just before the game starts and make a quick change if he is/isn’t.
As a seasond professional with a lil luck id be ranked much higher. Amatures put K cornes captain last week when you know he plays a heavy tag against brisbane. I opted for D COX who is an absolute fantasy star. As for this week tho not so sure perhaps Chadley
who should i get in my forward line?
chappy or ablett?
dave mate you couldnt go wrong with either! i personally would have the nude nut as hes been a regular in my team since eva. also i think teams will start 2 pay xtra attention 2 gablett as hes been carving
hey, any ideas on a cap for this week?
Bartel?
K.Cornes?
C.Cornes?
Judd?
Kerr?
Bruce?
B.Johnson?
Pavlich?
Will Judd play? and do you think bartel will be playing at 100% if he plays on friday night?
Hey Macca, you peanut
Why don’t you stray over to the rankings section and have a look at a league called Rambooked, currently listed 8th. If you call the organisers of the website, they will inform you that Rambooked as a league has finished 1, 1, 3 (and is now
over the previous 4 years. This is my league, overall the best league in the history of the competition. We take it seriously. You, on the other hand, are small fry and no one cares about you; why don’t you do us all a favour and remove yourself from tis website and the genepool. There’s a good boy. Run along now, biatch. You are unwelcome and unloved.
reesy,
anybody who thinks freo will finish either 4th or in the top 4 is a complete imbecile, and as for farmer, he won’t play well for another 5 weeks if he’s lucky. As for your clubs consistency with players getting into fights at nightclubs it is fair to say that they have no idea (eg. Hedland and Tarrant vs Farmer). Also whilst ive got your attention, any player who parades around (or looks to the sky, runs to the crowd, gives fist pumps and showss off to the crowd) after they have kicked a goal like your players do, instead of congratulating the player who passed the ball to them i think is a complete dickhead. This is why i dislike any player and supporter of the fremantle football club, as they have no idea about football, and it is fair to say that with your comment regarding your team finishing 4th this year, that you are a prime example
All of your constant bickering with each other in the effort to take that one moment of self-aggrandizing DT internet-glory is pathetic.
shut up.
I agree…keep your eye on the footy you guys!
Ha ha, good call Dean. Whilst I agree with most of your comments I cannot dislike freo players and supporters as it is hard to dislike people I feel so sorry for … except for this reesy block, he is an obvious knob.
As for Maxie and Liam, what i find “pathetic” is you guys taking the time to post a comment complaining about a bit of good old fashioned ribbing. Get a sense of humour and get a life.
haha i also agree. ive never seen this before.
while entertaining, it is petty
d’oh, i agree with maxie and liam not tweeds
Well said tweeds
Good to see you came out from under your rock Peter G.
For your information, your pathetic league is ranked 9th not 8th.
More importantly, I am a part of the league currently ranked 3rd. Yes thats right, 3rd. You will notice that our league has also found itself in the top 10 the last few years
Before you try to play “look whose better” know who your dealing with you twit.
Macca
Dean,
The problem with people such as yourself is that you are so jealous that farmer isn’t on your team that when he starts playing it up to the crowd to get them involved, you take it as a personal insult and the fact you react like a winging little girl, makes it all the more funny for us dockers supporters - how many other players kick the two best goals of the year in their first game back - every other player would have reacted the same, it is just that no-one else can do what he does. No doubt you are a sore losing Carlton Supporter - I’d be pretty happy with Fev in my side. Your point about him not celebrating with his teamates is again pathetic - he only set up about 5 gimme scoring assists as well as his intense forward line pressure and tackling. You sound like one of those knobs who need to be spoon fed and praised for everything you do! As for your idiotic call about the Dockers chances for top 4 - RECALL LAST SEASON YOU TOSSER! 9 straight on the way to a prelim - they have a better team this year and are a monty to do the same with a full-strength side.
Why don’t you find out who that Tweeds prick is, get together and hold a little women’s convention where you can pour out your grieviences about how upsetting it is and how it makes you feel when farmer points his arms in the sky…
this is pathetic, stop bitching
I’m amazed there is enough room in this blog page for all the egos of you “great” dreateamers. Top 100 ranking is definitely an achievement, but unless you’ve done it more than once (and no I haven’t), it was more than likely you had a fair bit of luck.
Looks like a fair few missing players have been named for round 14. Koschitzke, Judd, Hall, Kannelly…
err… Kennelly… should help out a fair few teams if they actually play.
Y dont we have a VOTE to see who likes all this 12 year old girl bitching and who’d rather talk footy. I know i’d defiantly rather talk footy, WHO’S WITH ME?
^^^^^^^your an idiot - please find a chat room to vent such vituperation and leave it off this site.
Back to footy and it looks like Luenbuger will play Bris for saturday. I will certainly keep an eye on him, although not expecting much
who should i trade fevola for
im looking at nathan g brown
or dale thomas
or westhoff cos hes doing alright
I am Screwed. Nablett out, lloyd out and he has judd hall and Kochitzke flukely in. I thout Kozzi was at least 2 weeks away.
edo: trade brown in hes in hot form and tigers are playing well.
hirdy: kosi probably wont play… Ross Lyon just messing us dt’ers and punters around.
Edo…
Id suggest taking a look at Brett “birdman” Burton from Adelaide. He is a star, and hugely cheap cos of an injured start to the season. But adelaide swore they wouldnt use him til he was fully fit. And as his name now appears on the team-sheet, he would def be a good addition to ur side.
NGB looks good and fit playing, and looks especially good on the dream team stats sheet… however, he also did in the NAB cup, until he suddenly got the hot spot injury. Not to say it WILL happen again, or he’s not a star (cos he is), but in picking him up, u r also picking up a lot more risk than u would with Burton, who only injured his ankle.
Kynan- Whats the chances of Judd playing? I hope he is a last minute ommision. Bartell is in but is he a risky captain choice?
Do you think Bartel will really play or is it a ploy????
hirdy: i wouldn’t touch bartel as captain in case he doesn’t play ive gone for Mcdonald against the carlton midfield. Not sure about Judd but i rekon he’ll play.
Kynan: Do I go West? There is a chance he will be tagged by k.cornes. Or Brad Johnson who may be tagged by c.Cornes. I don’t know who to put captain.
Well they said he (Bartel) has been buoyant around the club, so was strongly predicted to play as of yesterday. and he has passed a fitness test… so all signs say he really should… but… we’ve been tricked before…
Personally, im thinkin Bruce might be a good pick for Captain… or maybe even C Cornes…
Other big question is - Kosi is named - if he doesnt play, no biggie, as i have a good reserve.. tho im wondering whether i should even put him on the field at all… i dont want a half fit player barely playing a game, when i got JW Smith sitting on my bench… Any suggestions??? Should i keep him on the field or put Smith in??
And, i too, hope Judd is a late withdrawal…
What about going ablett against shithouse essendon midfield. wat other options? if thats it go west hes usually pretty good. At worst u might get 80
good news with bartel
Kynan- dont have ablett. What about Pavlich? maybe a bit risky at the scg against sydney. Westy will be tagged by K.corns and we all saw what happened to Black last week.
Maybe Chad Cornes. What do we all think Chad will get?
chad may have his hands full with brad johno?? west and k.cornes may cancel each other out just like k.cornes and black last week? will judd b fresh after a week off? will cam bruce be a good choice?
so a vote. Chad cornes, Matthew Pavlich, Brad Johnson or Scott West for Captain.
i wouldnt use pav (SCG and the typical sydney nightmare), westy is a bit down but his numbers against port are phenomonal. apparently johnno is carrying something (according to the AFL website preview - from memory) but nothing ever seems to stop johnno. the chad could be a good option but if choco assigns him to stop johnno he may be required to play tight sacrificing his numbers. im gonna make dean cox my captain this week. hes in touch, and at subi - bruce will be an awesome choice as well i reckon.
heard any news on NGB? i missed both games hes played and a little bit wary but was gonna pick him up this week. Burton is good but i dont think his numbers are good enough to secure a permanent spot in my team
Haha, looks like Reesy can go and eat humble pie… guess who got dropped this week buddy, Hadley!
Hope you traded Petterd out instead of Hadley.
Clown.
Also I think the dockers trophy cabinet needs a clean, the empty shelf has collected a lot of dust in the last 12 years.
Just quietly how the Fu(k did lloyd cop 1 week suspension that was as week an incident i seen adam goodes done much worse and he got off this weakens my team significantly with koshitzke in doubt although he has been named, my replacement is the young HARBROW how good will he do this week
Back onto Footy, I’m torn between Scotty Thompson and Coxy as captain this week. Thomspon could possibly be tagged by Sewell?
Set as Cox for now.
Also considering McDonald…
just watching afl teams. Apparantly they will give another weeks rest to judd of cousins play. Anybody holding on to cousins. What will his b/e be?
Just quickly, is Carlton much of a good tagging team?? Am looking at Bruce for captain (instead of Bartel), but as Melbourne’s only real descent midfielder, he’ll be one of carlton’s main targets…
So, good idea or bad idea??
Only real choice for me is Chad cornes as captain. Tomorrow morning Bartel has a meeting with the physics. He will be given the green or red light tomorrow morning.
Trade advise:
Gibbs or Hadley for Clarke? Hadley has been dropped. Both emergencies
Bryce Gibbs will play every week as a certainty. Hadley will probably get a higher score when he does play so it depends if you want someone who plays every week or who plays most weeks but get a higher score
hirdy, cuz wont have a b/e this week being his first game for the season and prices change after 3 games - at 370k odd he’d need to smash up an avg of around 95 (from the 3 games) to keep it id think.
bruce faces taggers every week and still carves up, carlton dont tag hard - they play one on one generally i think. = captain bruce
Timba, mcdonald is also a more than decent midfielder. great DT numbers proven this year and last.
My theio Toe, great to see you join in. I know about Lloyd, terrible. But u have to know if if what C .Judd who murdered someone on the field he would get his balls licked by the afl. Im sick of this shit decisions
I can pretty much trade to get any player i want with 250k in the bank plus the following value of players. I have around 8 trades left and was thinking of considering upgrading gibbs in my centre to adam simpson because not many players have him and given his past performances he’s a solid dter. Also wonding who to get rid of in my fwd line. i have pavlich, Okeefe, cornes, corey jones, alwyn davey, chapman with westhoff and gray on bench. I’m thinking about getting rid of franklin because i think he’s plateauing in price. Who should i trade him for, or who should i trade in my fwd line instead ?
dicleo,
what a ridiculous statement, i think if you were to go back over the years you would see that lloyd is one of the afls most protected species when it comes to the tribunal … he gets away with blue murder.
Whilst i dont necessarily agree with these head high rulings they afl has to show some consistency. The persons I feel sorry for is Michael Johnson from Freo who got rubbed out for 4 weeks for the same incident in the preseason. Since then everyone else has got off or only got 1-2 weeks. Classic example of a lower profile player being used as a guniea pig so the afl can make a point.
Of course im gonna be bias cos i follow essendon, but u try and deny this, Judd should have been rubbed out for at least 2 weeks for poking him in the eye, what bull shit. They used the excuse that he was trying to get him off, when the video clearly showed his intentions, im so happy he got injured to punish all those Dreamteamers who have him. U can obviously see how much i love Judd
Mate, ur just jealous u dont have him in ur dreamteam…
Im gonna have to agree with Dicleo here. Judd should have easily gotten 2 weeks but there is no touching him. Lloyd did the same thing as goodes if not even smaller and goodes got off scott free. Bit of inconsistancy?
Goodes got a reprimand, but it was pretty similar. Sydney got the charging downgraded in the tribunal or something though, something that Lloyd failed to do.
Al, please dont be silly i dont need him in my team , my centres are . Bartel, Corey, Hayes, Lappin, Power, Cornes. Now from where im standing all of these players score way better than he does. There are so many players id rather than him. My team is travelling perfect without him.I had Bartel from the start of the year. I wonder how many people jumped on him later on in the year. Mate you’d be jealous of my team. well done Todd at least you got brains
dicleo. I must admit your best player in your midfield is lappin. The most underated player in the Afl. What a star and a massive average. He id the player that will get under your skin.
Since al is jealous why doesnt he have a look at my team, ranked 174 called Kaiserslautern. I Know lappins a star but dont u think jimmy is having the best year, apart from last week he is destroying teams,Joel corey also never gets tagged like cornes which allows them to rack it up. These sort of players are prime in dreamteam
Dicleo- since you ’seem’ to know a lot I am still stuck for captain choice. I have Chad cornes, Brad Jono, Scotty West and Nick Dal Santo fighting for Bartels captaincy spot. Out of those, knowing who they are playing, who do i choose as my captain?
Definitely Johno, he was quite last week and is due for a HUGE score.
Chad Cornes has got the tagging job on him though. Thats a bit risky.
I’m going West for captain. He has his highest average against Port.
isnt westy getting tagged by Kane Cornes?
Cornes tagging Johnno is definitely no certainty. Plus they will probably both score well as Johnno loves to come up into the play when he can’t get a kick (therefore, so will Chad). It’s probably because he has himself as captain of his dreamteam every week.
He could. The problem with that though is the Doggies don’t rely on West like Brisbane does with Black, and also Port will want to be using Cornes themselves with Pearce and Salopek out. That doesn’t mean Cornes won’t tag West, but I’m taking the risk.
simon- so who will score higher. Jono or chad cornes?
Hirdy- says Johno is not 100% fit on the afl website and that he might to a break to get fit. Unlikely that he will miss but just to be safe i think Chad cornes is your man
cousins = hamstring = no chance for this weekend
Port normally restricts their opposition forwards a lot of DT points as well. But like Simon says, when Johnson doesn’t get much of the ball in the forward line he normally comes up the ground to get some touch. I remember against the Pies he was looking to score about 70 but in the last quarter he was marking and kicking the ball around in the defensive 50 and ended up with 90 odd.
I still have no idea who to chose out of west, cornes and johnson.
Theia Rich, your comments are those of brilliance. I love that you have Bartel and I hope he gets 188 this week. Happy fisting!!
my friend Hirdy. Easily go B Johnson or Chad Cornes they both love getting it. good luck
hirdy mate, dont u have anything beter to do than sit on here and ask endless captaincy questions when u seem to know a fair bit yourself.
is that an insult or compliment?
oi Macca Sticks and stick are different ppl. even u wuld realise that bizzell wuld be a stupid player to have in the first place. u get awfully fired up over this. bottom line of it is that NG Brown has proven that he is back to his superstar form and after that 2nd week i will now take a far less risk and pick him up for the same price
well dun rich, hirdy y not put urself captain after all it is ur milestone game. You should easily rack it up. Rich mate u know who the best players in our league are lol such a dominant season we have 2 many not pulling their weight. if u and i and arch and soc had 4 teams each we would easily be ranked 1st lol
No Cornes this week done a knee at training
Crows were did you hear that from? Which Cornes is it?
text message from a mate I think he is pulling my leg can’t find any info about it anywhere
Todd, do you really think “crows” would be serious about a supposed “Port” injury
crows which cornes did it say it was not that i believe its true
Any news on big sandilands… currently am choosing my emergencies… bloody hell there’s so many uncertainties… And i dont know whether worth putting Warnock as Emergency or not… cos also feel i need one for Fwd, Back and Cntr…
Mcleod, Goodwin, Bartel, Johnson, Sandilands, Kosi… AUGHHH!!
200 posts! Thats AMAZING guys! Top effort. Aim 300 this week? Shit yeah!
